Anyone not put up their tree yet?

Has anyone not put up their tree and decorations yet? We always put up the first weekend in December. I planned to do a big clean of the lounge (which I've been putting off) and we need to get everything down from the loft - the children really wanted o put it up though and now I feel a bit bah humbug seeing all the pictures on facebook of fully decorated trees.

It’s insane, far too early! November - tsk!

Anyway. What happened to the 12 days of Christmas?

Nordman · 29/11/2020 23:39

Too early for this house, ours will go up middle of December.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 29/11/2020 23:54

Nope. Not planning to at all this year either.

SophieGiroux · 30/11/2020 00:12

You can bet all these people putting them up early are the ones posting they are taking them down on Boxing Day as they're fed up of them and want a clean and tidy house! It happens every year

DramaAlpaca · 30/11/2020 00:15

It's still November, it's much too early.

Our tree will go up the weekend before Christmas as usual.

CountFosco · 30/11/2020 00:21

No, it would be dead by Christmas. We're breaking with tradition this year though and getting it a whole week early, our slot to pick it up is booked for 2 weeks time.

Lovely1a2b3c · 30/11/2020 01:29

We have a real potted tree so it won't go up until about 12th Dec.

janetmendoza · 30/11/2020 01:33

Yup weekend before Christmas for us.

Rockbird · 30/11/2020 01:48

Tuesday evening probably. I'd usually do it a week later but dd2 is desperate, she wanted to do it today. Loads of trees and lights up around here.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 30/11/2020 05:13

Nope, 20th Dec in our house

blackteaplease · 30/11/2020 05:17

No tree here yet. We get a real tree the first weekend in December so we will stick with tradition. I need to clear a space for it first and have ran out of time to do that this weekend.

Parker231 · 30/11/2020 05:20

Our tradition is Christmas tree and decorations go up the weekend before Christmas and down on NYE.

Intothesheepfold · 30/11/2020 05:21

Nope. Ours goes up on the 19th.

Tavannach · 30/11/2020 05:22

No, ours will go up sometime in the week before Christmas and stay up until the 6th. Can't imagine New Year's dinner without the cards and decorations up.

Misopasta · 30/11/2020 06:05

Mine went up this weekend, normally put it up on the first but was easier to just do it this weekend.

lurch3r · 30/11/2020 06:10

Nope, it goes up the weekend the schools break up. DS has a birthday mid December so it would never go up before that.

HerbErtlinger · 30/11/2020 06:14

No, it's DP's birthday on Friday so we wait until after that. My 3yr old is DESPERATE to have the house decorated so will get out the Xmas duvet covers and a couple of little bits in the hope that will tide him over!

BefuddledPerson · 30/11/2020 06:24

We decorate gradually but don't start until December. Our 'tree' such as it is usually goes up just around the end of term.

It has been harder to wait this year, but we make decorations as gifts every year (usually knitted, sewn, felted) and that often starts after half term anyway so have tried to content myself with that.

HelenaJustina · 30/11/2020 06:27

Ours isn’t up, 3rd Sunday of Advent at the earliest!

CarryOnWalking · 30/11/2020 06:34

Never until after the schools break up here. We are definitely in the minority this year. Almost all my neighbours have theirs up already.

Sittinbythesea · 30/11/2020 06:38

Mid December here, depending when the weekend falls, probably next Saturday.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 30/11/2020 06:46

I usually put mine up mid December however with the shit year we've had, I just wanted a little but of christmas cheer early. Therefore it was put up yesterday. I've seen quite a few trees and decorations up already.

always2ndbest · 30/11/2020 06:48

Nope! I got a nasty electric shock last week and ended up in hospital. House needs rewiring and it's been done on 7th so no point putting lots of Christmas stuff up that will get in the way. Aiming for the weekend of the 12th.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 30/11/2020 07:01

always2ndbest poor you, how scary! Hope you are feeling better.

No tree here yet because it’s not even December but people round here had trees and lights up last weekend.
In fact my local Facebook group had people asking where they could get trees as everywhere was sold out!

AlwaysLatte · 30/11/2020 07:11

Never usually do but the children wanted their trees up on their bedrooms so we did those yesterday and thought since the decorations were all out of the loft... so we've got the external tree and lights up, plus things like Garland above the fireplace and the dining room twig tree etc. But we won't buy the main real tree for another week or so.
I'm putting their Christmas bedding on while they're at school today.
