Anyone not put up their tree yet?

Has anyone not put up their tree and decorations yet? We always put up the first weekend in December. I planned to do a big clean of the lounge (which I've been putting off) and we need to get everything down from the loft - the children really wanted o put it up though and now I feel a bit bah humbug seeing all the pictures on facebook of fully decorated trees.

Mine is still in the cupboard. Can't get excited about decorating this year. I was going to it this weekend but couldn't muster up the enthusiasm for it.

Lurchermom · 29/11/2020 22:46

This year has been crazy for it. Everyone seems to have put their tree up! We will do so next weekend, always do it first weekend in December.
My parents used to do it on the 23rd or 24th and are always appalled by my early decorating Grin
I could not bring myself to decorate in November.

islockdownoveryet · 29/11/2020 22:49

No not yet , I will next weekend . I'm looking forward to it .
Im planning some Christmas treats and films next weekend too .

Trickyboy · 29/11/2020 22:49

We like Christmas to be when it's actually really Christmassy so it used to go up at the end of term.. now all left school it's the weekend of the carol service because that heralds Christmas for us.. and stays up for the 12 days.

I had always been told taking it down before the 6th was bad luck..

I've never understood why people put them up in Nov /beginning of Dec when it's not very Christmas-like .. and then have it all packed away when it's still Boxing Day..

drigon · 29/11/2020 23:04

Agree, don't see the point of it until we get much nearer Christmas. I like to put mine up about the 20th (my son has other ideas though!)

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 29/11/2020 23:05

Not only December!

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 29/11/2020 23:05

Oops - Not until December!

RaininSummer · 29/11/2020 23:07

Nope. Either weekend coming or one after.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 29/11/2020 23:11

No.

mrsbyers · 29/11/2020 23:16

Mine goes up after husbands birthday on the 17th

Duanphen · 29/11/2020 23:17

First weekend of December and see no reason to change it.

It's easier to 'cope' with lockdown if you just keep everything the way it's always been and don't make a big fuss about how 'different' things are.

Onedropbeat · 29/11/2020 23:18

I’ve not because we get a real tree and if I put it up now it will be a bare twig by Christmas Day

No idea what so many people are doing putting real ones op inside already. It’s not even December

MrsDoctorDear · 29/11/2020 23:18

Getting delivered on the 12th, that's soon enough for me. After two weeks I want it down and the house back to normal. Don't know how people cope having it up for a month.

MrsAvocet · 29/11/2020 23:20

No. We never put ours up til the weekend before Christmas.

ouchmyfeet · 29/11/2020 23:21

@Lotsachocolateplease

Not me! It’s still November!

@MrsAvocet

No. We never put ours up til the weekend before Christmas.
Same. It then comes down on Boxing Day.
arggghhhhh · 29/11/2020 23:22

Not yet. Will be doing it in a weeks time.

FAQs · 29/11/2020 23:26

Nah can't be arsed, been a pants year not sure we can be bothered, will see how it goes.

Toilenstripes · 29/11/2020 23:26

@elQuintoConyo

Something like this....
That’s so clever! I bet your DS will love it.
WeatherwaxOn · 29/11/2020 23:28

Not yet. Need to have a proper tidy up before I can think about the tree. Have put some outside lights up though.

DrEllie · 29/11/2020 23:29

Not yet. When DD1 comes back from Uni next week she'll want them up!

CoconutGrove · 29/11/2020 23:32

I usually wait til Dec 1st so am getting the house clean and tidy before i get it down

YesILikeItToo · 29/11/2020 23:32

I’ve had the opposite thinking to everyone who’s gone early for more fun times with the tree this year. I’m thinking we can’t do the normal festive things like Christmas market, mince pies with friends etc, so putting the tree up will be a Christmas entertainment at Christmastime. We’ll do it after school breaks up.

Pansypath · 29/11/2020 23:35

Me. Always dec 1

movingonup20 · 29/11/2020 23:37

Nope, moving house soon!
