Anyone not put up their tree yet?

Has anyone not put up their tree and decorations yet? We always put up the first weekend in December. I planned to do a big clean of the lounge (which I've been putting off) and we need to get everything down from the loft - the children really wanted o put it up though and now I feel a bit bah humbug seeing all the pictures on facebook of fully decorated trees.

Not yet! It was my twins birthday today so we wait till after their birthday. Normally put it up second weekend of December but will probably do it next weekend.

@LindaEllen

We're not even putting one up, much to the dismay of my mum. DSS is at his mum's for the Christmas holidays this year, the house was supposed to be decorated (so we got rid of the tree that fits in this living room, we will be having a different tree due to the different layout when it's done, but due to covid it didn't get done so we're between trees, and we've decided given our current financial situation it'd be stupid to buy one just for the sake of things this year.

Perhaps that makes me miserable but to be honest I think sitting in a decorated house away from my family would make me feel worse than no decs at all, so there we go.

How about getting a real one this year?

I can't as I'm still mid renovation and currently don't have the space for two, so Chris (the fake tree) is going up again. I couldn't leave him in the loft & betray him by getting a 'real' one. I just don't have it in me to hurt him like that...

I think the vast majority of people haven't put their tree up yet given that it's still November!

MajesticWhine · 29/11/2020 22:20

Would never do it before start of December - might do it next weekend.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 29/11/2020 22:20

No, it’s November. It will go up the weekend before. Does feel special if it’s up for weeks imo.

ParkheadParadise · 29/11/2020 22:23

Our tree doesn't go up until after dd's birthday, the second week in December.

soddingkitten · 29/11/2020 22:23

Not yet. We have a bonkers 8 mo kitten who will spend the next month swinging from it and, in all likelihood, toppling it daily. The kids keep asking and I keep putting them off, but next weekend is the furthest I can reasonably push it. I’m not looking forwards to it this year. Kitten has only just stopped climbing the blinds and curtains. 🙄

APurpleSquirrel · 29/11/2020 22:24

Put ours up today - had planned to do either this weekend or next, but we've got plans next weekend so today it was. Several houses round us have got theirs up too.

EwwSprouts · 29/11/2020 22:24

It's November so no tree.

Horehound · 29/11/2020 22:25

Nope! We usually get a real tree but think we will switch to fake for the next ten yrs or so need to find a nice one

elQuintoConyo · 29/11/2020 22:30

Not yet, next weekend, Saturday tree, Sunday other paraphernalia (more twinkly lights, mistletoe, wreath, the Welcome Moose).

I'm planning on making a cardboard fireplace for ds' felt camp fire Smile

elQuintoConyo · 29/11/2020 22:31

Something like this....

Anyone not put up their tree yet?
haircutsRus · 29/11/2020 22:33

Nothing up yet. We have earmarked next weekend, and I've already rearranged the living room a bit to make room for the tree.

21833efb · 29/11/2020 22:33

Probably won't bother at all this year :(

supadupapupascupa · 29/11/2020 22:33

I just can't put mine up until it's December! Hopefully my house will have a big clean tomorrow so the decs can come out if the loft tomorrow night.

Toilenstripes · 29/11/2020 22:34

Did it today. I’m absolute rubbish at putting the lights on the tree. The top part is bare. 🙄

Attictroll · 29/11/2020 22:34

Maybe next weekend but that’s feels a bit early. Personally I think all the decorations around are making me more depressed thinking about how different things will be - I prefer the fairs and build up to the actual day 😟

Hardbackwriter · 29/11/2020 22:36

Definitely not! I do understand why a lot of people want to do it early to bring some much needed cheer into this shit year, but my concern is that the risk of getting sick of the decorations before Christmas is higher not lower this year given how much time we're in the house for! We're going to decorate on the weekend of the 12th, which is about when we'd normally do it.

VestaTilley · 29/11/2020 22:38

Of course! I’m actually appalled at the people putting them up so early.

I love Christmas - but we are in Advent- a time of preparation and waiting. Christmas starts on 25th December.

We decorate here on the 18th or thereabouts.

Tearsfortiers · 29/11/2020 22:39

We haven't - it's November! Ours will go up on December 19th after the children and I have finished school. We might put our outside lights up the weekend before though.

Biglumpycustard · 29/11/2020 22:39

It has to be in December for us, it’s going up on Wednesday.

VinylDetective · 29/11/2020 22:41

Ours will go up on the 19th.

timeforanewstart · 29/11/2020 22:43

Nope and contemplating wether to bother digging through loft and just buying a little fibre optic one or something instead

ILoveAnOwl · 29/11/2020 22:44

Daughter's birthday is the 21st of December so our decorations never go up until the 22nd.

SlopesOff · 29/11/2020 22:46

I put the Christmas tree up at Christmas. Not in November. Not even in early December.
I drag it out on Christmas Eve and put it away the day after Boxing Day. I do not remove the baubles or lights, just the batteries.
