Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Yes my airpods from Aldi arrived last Sunday @chocoholicmumma

FireflyGirl · 04/12/2020 14:25

@WeAreTheWeirdosMister I agree with SpamIAm.

Let her 'buy' one of the presents you already have, then either give them the money, or put it in savings for them (my DS is only 5 and wouldn't know what to do with cash if he was given it).

Squ1ggle · 04/12/2020 14:35

I got the star wars lego from Aldi, despatch email on the 2nd but Hermes haven't updated the tracking yet - still just says 'expected'. I'm getting nervous even though I know there's delays with deliveries everywhere

Waterlemon · 04/12/2020 14:42

@Elpheba

Not strictly Christmas but I need some bargainous greetings card- realised with so few shop trips this year I’ve heavily run down my at home stock of birthday cards/new home cards etc. I used to stock up in paper chase but they’ve closed permanently in my nearest city 😭 where do people get bargainous but still nice cards??
Dunelm have a really lovely selection. I’ve bought enough for a couple of years worth of birthdays/occasions as they were so nice.
EvilHerbivore · 04/12/2020 14:47

@keeganface have you opened the snack surprise box? Would you mind saying what's in it?

keeganface · 04/12/2020 15:06

I've hidden it upstairs at the moment but will try take a picture tomorrow if I get a chance. It contains Danish snacks. A old drink, chocolate, sweets and savoury snacks.

This popped up in my inbox, it’s one of those subscriptions where you have to remember to cancel after you get the introductory offer.

@sunnyday1976 off topic but was York busy? We are hoping to visit probably the Monday before Christmas.

ZIGGY911 · 04/12/2020 15:15

My Aldi order was despatched on 1st and it arrived today. I got the airpods. They come via Hermes and they are at least 3 days delivery atm.

sunnyday1976 · 04/12/2020 15:18

@IggyAce it wasn't today, but it was absolutely chucking it down!! Not heard from anyone what's it's like in a 'normal' day, sorry. Apparently it's really busy on weekend evenings with people going to see the Christmas lights. Hope you have a good day if you visit!

Jedstre · 04/12/2020 15:21

I have had so many deliveries the past few days. I’ve also recently moved house so it’s been ordered for the house, on top of the presents. I’ve accidentally ordered two pc monitors Shock. I didn’t even realise! That’ll be another return I’m doing Hmm.

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 04/12/2020 15:28

I got home to find a courier had left a parcel in our wheelie bin. The bin was empty and I couldn’t reach the parcel without actually getting into the bin or tipping it up, I ended up using a spatula and a wooden spoon from the kitchen to grab it.

The package was some bits from Toys for £1 which was recommended on here. I was extremely impressed with the actual toys, they look much more expensive than £1.

bookish83 · 04/12/2020 15:43
@WillSantaBeComingToTown MIL has asked us to buy them presents! And I have so many toys and sweets already for them.

I am thinking maybe a subscription or something to 'do', (what I dont know) unless this thread comes up with an idea I haven't thought of 🤞
Could you give the presents you have bought for your MIL and give cash yourself?

IggyAce · 04/12/2020 16:00

@sunnyday1976 thank you. The plan all been well is to arrive late afternoon grab a hot chocolate and wander round looking at the lights. I’ll also pop into Betty’s for treats & Yorkshire soap company.

EverybodyKeepCool · 04/12/2020 16:04

The Entertainer has the Elf board game in stock for £8
Home Bargains has Jane Asher cinnamon bun kits for around £1.50

cataline · 04/12/2020 16:06

Thanks for the Beer52 offer @OrigamiPenguinArmy
Just ordered for my stepdad as a little extra gift.

msssm · 04/12/2020 16:18

Ah too late it was already redeemed. Thank you anyway

noodledoodler · 04/12/2020 16:30

I know some of you have made the cinnamon buns from the baked in kit, has anyone used a dairy free milk with it?

Riverhouse · 04/12/2020 16:51

@WeAreTheWeirdosMister how about putting some of the money together and buying a projector they'll all get use out of. We got one from Amazon for around £80, don't know what came over me as I normally wouldn't buy something like that, but we've loved it over lockdown watching movies on it all together. We just project it on to the wall, so no fancy screens or anything.

Or buy subscription to things like Spotify/Netflix/Disney+

buckeejit · 04/12/2020 16:54

@Chocolateteabag thanks for that - there seems to be quite a few problems with charging so I'm a bit concerned.

Everything I've done has gone wrong-stuff delivered here instead of recipient in another country. Delays of ds much anticipated knife & today instead of the fragrance oils from the white company they've sent me pyjamas 🙄

I wish they'd all keep us updated with estimated delivery dates. Off to chase eufy now....

TimeToCloseTheDoor · 04/12/2020 17:01

@BeaLola

Thank you. I picked up a Harry Potter wand half price for DD and a free cow for my dog Grin

22Giraffes · 04/12/2020 17:34

@wheretheresahill thanks for the Cadbury info, have joined but the queue is full at the moment, about right! I'll try later Smile

STARE2016 · 04/12/2020 17:40

Can someone please remind me which of the tape dispensers got rave reviews on here last year? Mine has just had a slight accident so I'm in the market for a new one!
