Thanks to @friskybivalves for the title

I think we might actually make it to 25 threads!!

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

I am looking for a gift set of small flavoured gins, that I can have posted directly to the recipient as we won't see them this year. A bargain would be great as we don't usually spend a lot on adults and this is the sort of thing I would grab in the gift bit of a supermarket normally.
Thanks

CoffeeAndEnnui · 24/11/2020 23:39

£10 off a £50 spend at Matalan with the code SOCIAL1050 Smile

Anyone seen any pyjama vest tops (just the tops) anywhere? Preferably white. I usually get these but they're out of stock. Looking to pay about the same price

PositiveLife · 24/11/2020 23:43

Might have been mentioned but lands end have a big sale on. Managed to get swimming costumes at 90%+ off

Iggi999 · 24/11/2020 23:44

Thanks, I8toys.
I've temporarily moved over to the other dc to think about ordering a bike - not quite as hard to come by as the Xbox, but still really, really hard!

@Yourmomgoestocollege if you search 'live chat' in the search bar on Amazon, it brings it up as the first result
Just go on there and explain that you didn't get the promotional credit offered and they tend to credit your account with it there and then – I had to do the same when they didn't automatically apply the £5 for using an Amazon locker for the first time but the guy on live chat put it on straight away for me

Clementine8 · 25/11/2020 02:55

I keep thinking i’m nearly done then think of another load of presents i need to get so keep the bargains flowing.

Graphista · 25/11/2020 03:25

@thisisexhausting anywhere that does homewares or China will normally do teapots.

I have a maxim from M&S that was a gift a few years ago. A simple but elegant design that pours well (this was my bugbear and the giver had done their homework!)

Depends on your criteria

China/glass/metal?

Decorative or practical?

Size? For “normal” tea or particular flavours or blends? (I’m an earl grey person and the teapot I received also meant to be good for aromatic brews and I would agree it works well)

@LutherRalph1 - I’ve not bought girls/women’s t-shirts for years they’re always more expensive than boys/men’s, niece can alter necklines if she wishes to if you go that way

Re waffles - dried fruits (as well as raisins, sultanas and apricots there’s banana chips, papaya, mango, pear... Holland & Barrett do a dried superberry mix which is yum!) are easy to get in small packages and are fairly robust for gift giving, also uht squirty cream doesn’t need to be refrigerated until opened

I’m supposedly done, but feel I’ve not got parents enough as it’s just usual basics (pjs, robes and slippers and a few “stocking fillers”) reason being they are incredibly hard to buy for! Not because they’re awkward but a combination of medical issues (which rule out food, alcohol, anything perfumed, jewellery, books, puzzles, crafts...) and that they’re now “comfortably off” after decades of struggling so when they want/need something they just get it! Bro was asking me as I can usually think of something but I’m stumped this year!

I’m also STILL on the lookout please for deals/discounts/offers on

iPad
Airpods

I’ve been burned before on refurbished so prefer new on tech.

On a side note, am I the only one who doesn’t “get” the way Lego is now? At the risk of sounding like a granny when I was a kid the point was you could be creative and make anything you wanted with it! You didn’t get “sets” that were for making particular things, you got boxes that contained bricks of all different sizes, wee people, shutters for windows (I LOVED these) windows, doors, wheels etc and you could make anything you wanted! I mainly made boats (still an obsession any “lottery win dream purchase” threads I’m there with the luxury yacht ideas 😂) and motorhomes/caravans...

I’ll get my coat

@coffeeandennui I suspect we’re a similar age with your “here’s what you could have won!” Comment 😂

@GoblinDaughter “how about a tin of very sticky toffee to keep his gob firmly shut ?” Good idea, except get him those tray toffee sets that come with a wee hammer to redirect his ire?

@tabbycat985 congratulations! I had a long slim baby too but she’s almost 20 now so no recommendations sorry, though ASDA were good back then dunno about now, except to say avoid clothes with “feet” included or at least be prepared to cut them off! She still struggles to get clothes!

Givealittlebit · 25/11/2020 04:19

@InDreamland the Christmas collection I got was a different one I think, included 2 mix boxes, 2 chocolate buttons, white chocolate reindeer and some other bits! It was the one linked on here a week or so ago. I'm excited for it to arrive though!

Inspired by another thread I'd like to start a charm bracelet for DD7. Looking on Etsy and eBay there seem to be a lot of cheap charms where you get a pack of 5 for a few pounds. I'd like them to be better quality than those!!! I've never been too keen on Pandora jewellery, however I could be tempted as they're good quality and there's so much choice. Any other recommendations?

I started a pandora for my daughter when she was 7. I got it with just 2 charms. She's now 15 and we've kept adding to it and now she wears it all the time. She loves it and can remember what all the charms are for.
Scbchl · 25/11/2020 06:14

@kulaexchange Buckley do charms there have been some in their black friday sale most days and when it's not black Friday they do tennar Tuesdays with a selection of stuff and fiver fridays and there has been charms both days for a couple of weeks. I got my 16 year old stuff from there and quality seems great for the price.

Bit of feedback on some suggestions I was given for books. I ordered books from Lowplex on Monday night (9ish) and I've had an email to say they are being delivered today! Excellent service so far!

NoWordForFluffy · 25/11/2020 06:44

@Graphista, our kids love Lego sets but we also buy boxes of bricks too. In fact, DD has an enormous box with - I think - 1,500 pieces for Christmas which I got half price in Sainsbury's. We have all sorts of creations around the house!

Jfw82 · 25/11/2020 06:54

@jingleballing thanks for the free delivery code for sea salt - I had put jutes in my basket when they went available but couldn't justify postage when that was all I was going to buy (and was trying hard not to spend up to £25 so as not to pay it!)

RaggieDolls · 25/11/2020 07:18

@woodwaj, I see! You awakened a memory of an ex of mine who spent all our nectar points when we split. He knew how much I loved them.

I know...I have the big Winter candle in my basket and keep hovering on the checkout button Grin it’s going to happen, isn’t it, I should just give in now!
SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 25/11/2020 07:48

Graphista I am with you on the Lego sets. They now usually contain tiny bespoke pieces which really means you can make that set once and then only again if you keep all those pieces carefully together, which kind of flies in the face of creativity. I also worry about the fact that Lego will never decompose.

Allhallowseve · 25/11/2020 07:53

Thanks for sea salt idea just ordered two lovely little jutes on for dmum that doesn't want anything !

Rockhopper81 · 25/11/2020 08:04

To be fair, Lego is aiming for more sustainability and aims to be making their bricks from sustainable sources by 2030. Plus, it works with any Lego ever built - so bricks from today would work with bricks from decades ago - it's definitely a toy for longevity. And you can still get boxes of just bricks for creative building, a lot of people who love Lego have a box of bricks for creative play alongside models with specific bricks (or in the case of my nephews, the kit pieces all go in a giant box together anyway after they're built and broken again!).
