Evening!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

Crazy dh is the same. I cook so he clears away but all he does is load the dishwasher, he doesn't clean the sides down and often leaves cups on the table Hmm he cleans the bathroom but never cleans the toothbrush pot out.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2020 09:28

My DH takes twice as long to do half the job with most things! Xmas Confused Half-arsed and blind to crumbs appears endemic amongst the countdown menfolk. How odd. (Other than Why's H, who is an exception!)

70, hopefully the coffee will give you the required oomph. 😂

Morning all.

Dh abandons his breakfast dishes in the morning. I seem to spend half my life in the kitchen. I clean up after breakfast, then start lunch, clean that up then start dinner and finally clean that up.

Last night's appointment cost me a small fortune but I finally have an answer.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2020 10:22

Answers are good, Neros. Do you need treatment?

Domestic drudgery is never ending! I wouldn't want a cleaner though as I know how well I clean and I'm not sure they'd match it! 😂

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/11/2020 10:54

My H does indeed clean Fluffy but cannot shut drawers to save his life. I am mystified by this to be honest.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/11/2020 10:54

Glad you have an answer Neros.

NerosFiddle · 20/11/2020 10:54

The consultant is putting me on medication until end of Jan/ Feb and if that works then great, but if not we have to look at surgery. So fingers crossed it's just medication. I have so many tablets to take of you shook me I'd rattle.

If I could afford a cleaner I'd get one. But that's just because I'm lazy 😂

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/11/2020 10:55

My H does take a long long time to do things though.

NerosFiddle · 20/11/2020 10:56

Forgot to say they announced another lockdown for us last night. Some places can open for 1 week then have to close again. Also talk of closing the schools early so that if people need to travel they can isolate for 2 weeks. It's an absolute shit show over here.

MarshmallowManiac · 20/11/2020 11:56

Morning everyone. OMG 5 weeks and still so much to do. Bought most of the stocking stuff, but nearly all mains to do as bloody kids won't let me know what they want! Not too many more cards to write but lots to wrap. Nice day here, but a little icy this morning, DD had to de ice her car. Had rubbish night last night up and down like a yoyo. Had Teams meeting scheduled for this morning, but has been cancelled. Usually sweep, mop and clean every second day, massive blast at weekend. Also clean worktops, tables etc every day and DH seems to have a major problem with dropping sugar on the worktop when he's making tea, so every day have sugar blasting too. Don't mind as DH helps around the house and sometimes cooks.

Glad to hear it is being sorted Neros

Great onesies on Amazon Wreck

Usually go to LS too 70 but not this year. Sad Sad as we make a day of it and buy lots of presents, have lunch and have a browse around.

Crazy my DH would never think of cleaning skirting boards/switches/ or behind radiators yuk.

WreckTangled · 20/11/2020 12:04

Neros I hope the medication works.

Thanks marshmallow I'll take a look, I did just get a nerf one in Tesco though. 25% off.

Home from shopping and getting my prescription. The pharmacy at my surgery is the slowest in the world it's ridiculous. The bread I have was 20% off in Waitrose so I got four loaves Grin got fuel too. Planning on sitting and now doing much else for the next few hours.

BiddyPop · 20/11/2020 12:34

Afternoon all, busy morning at work and trying to catch up on other things. I took a day off yesterday and got almost nothing done (we had a long PT meeting and then a separate mtg with year head later when DD got home). I did get out for a walk, but as there was glass all over the road (after bin trucks earlier), I stopped to pick that up and chatted to NDN for a while, so had to get back for a lecture, and no time later. But I was outdoors in daylight (I am starting to feel like a vampire rarely seeing the daylight outdoors).

Today, I need to clear a bunch of work stuff (I'm listening to another lecture at the moment) and my boss is off today. Cubs are going to the beach tomorrow (looking at evidence of glaciers in the rocks) so I've sent that to parents. But I need to organise some appointments for DD on foot of the meeting yesterday, and get my own script renewed. And do more moving (physio happy parts of me are moving again, but my sideways movement and my neck/shoulders are both less than satisfactory).

I need to get my Christmas prep hat back on again. I was doing ok but have fallen away a lot recently. I think I have hit a wall with the reality of this year, so need to find my "smiles and sings" head again....

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/11/2020 12:53

I've emptied a bag that was under the stairs and two kitchen cupboards tidied and put away .

I've got cake decoration cutters ( the ones that you cut out then there's a spring thingie that presses them out and makes a pattern) - holly leaves , ivy leaves and stars .

So thinking about the decorations for the cake now . Xmas Grin

Nero glad you got an answer , that's half the battle sometimes !

pussycatinboots · 20/11/2020 13:49

Nero I hope the tablets work.
why Do you want to swap? My DH is slow too, but crumb and cobweb-blind. 😂
I've realised that most men are mainly for ornamental use.🤔😉
Wreck we are I am swapping DH pharmacy next time I order his meds for the same reason.
70 have you baked it then? I miss licking the bowl Blush but there's no point baking one for just us 2 when I won't eat it once it's been baked Xmas Grin
Biddy More yoga to loosen you up?
Still watching the West Wing - up to season 5 now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/11/2020 13:58

No , not even near boots I've set aside next weekend to bake The Cake .
I need to get out the cake tin that has the dividers and decide what size to do and all the lining with paper .

I'll do a few smaller cakes , decorate one (for us) and one to have with Wendsleydale .
Then keep a couple to take to DParents ( theirs can go in the freezer , they don't like the alcohol feeding )

So I'll soak them on Friday and line then get all the ingredients ready for Saturday

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/11/2020 15:07

Wreck I use Pharmacy2u they post the medication out to you once ordered with your surgery. Tis like magic.

Boots we could trial a swap see how it goes would be an interesting experiment.

WreckTangled · 20/11/2020 17:02

I passed the maths exam! Phew!

pussycatinboots · 20/11/2020 17:08

Wreck well done! 🍾

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2020 17:12

Well done, Wreck. We never doubted you! (That result took ages!)

Neros, I saw about your lockdown last night. The news says figures are going down in NI though. Confused Good luck with the tablets. 🤞

Boots, imagine the increased amount of dusting of a DH-sized ornament! Dusting is something else DH finds a foreign concept.

I read about a Nigel Slater cake that's meant to be nice. I'll look in my book. I don't like heavy, standard cake. The kids want me to make Nigella's chocolate cake though. Or the 'fractured' cake with sprinkles which is in one of the Christmas mags. I forget which!

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/11/2020 17:27

Congratulations Wreck

Not going to grumble about the domestic failings in this house but it appears crumb blindness is a BIG problem across the thread.

Neros fingers crossed that the medication option works.

WreckTangled · 20/11/2020 17:53

Thanks everyone! Fluffy it's almost seven weeks Hmm

Looks like we will be starting our twice weekly Covid tests from next week at work.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/11/2020 00:10

WreckTangled · 21/11/2020 06:57

Morning! Up early because my sugar levels low. Annoying.

It's our wedding anniversary today and I've come down to a massive bunch of flowers. I forgot Grin well I kept remembering then kept forgetting again. Ah well.

ConstantlyCooking · 21/11/2020 09:25

Congratulations on the exam and the anniversary wreck.
I need to finish making bunting for DD's calendar and send it off this weekend plus I want to meal plan for Christmas but don't know who will be here!
