Evening!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

I was just looking at the which? cheapest supermarkets from September and Morrison's was more expensive than Tesco which surprised me, I thought it would be between Tesco and asda.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 14:35

It seems to vary month on month. And we don't buy brands, which they're comparing. Or 70 items!

WreckTangled · 19/11/2020 15:10

We buy more than 70 items. Mine is at 64 currently and I'm not finished, have got a couple of bits for Christmas though plus washing powder and fabric softener which bumps it up. At least doing it online you can go back and get rid of the things you don't really need etc.

WreckTangled · 19/11/2020 15:11

They do a selection of brands and non brands. I don't buy brands either my grandparents and mum always buy brands I think it's a generational thing Grin

pussycatinboots · 19/11/2020 16:17

Feeling old now Xmas Grin I buy brands - not all, but some. Sometimes you do get what you pay for, and I tend to get 2 or 3 of something when it's on offer for the same price as an own brand version.

Good luck later Nero.

CrazyBaubles · 19/11/2020 16:37

I hope things are / do go well Neros

For food shopping, we did the challenge of buying 'one step down' a few years ago (so going from Branded to supermarket own / best then from that to the cheaper version). Found some things I couldnt tell the difference, some cheaper I preferred and some we've gone back to branded - for example, own brand washing powder / cleaning stuff was fine (but not Aldi because I'm allergic), but for beans I always get Branston.
We also buy free range / British high welfare meat so can't really down grade that at all.

My mum buys all brands - I think she worried people will think she's poor if she doesn't 😂

My day is going well although my arm is starting to hurt. Flu jabs were like a well organised conveyor belt though - in, temp, security question, jab and out in 5 mins flat (they're at the leisure centre rather than the dr surgery).

Working for another 50mins, then picking DH up and making paella for tea 😋

MarshmallowManiac · 19/11/2020 17:40

Hope all goes well this evening Neros

Do you think they may have gone a little, erm, overboard ?

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 22:16

It doesn't look real! The camera lens and filters are bizarre!

But have you seen the size of their Nutcrackers?

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 22:23

They were impressive! And would scare the shit out of you in the middle of the night!

Boots, the pink bathroom suite is weird and the place is so cluttered. Looks like a grenade went off in a Christmas factory.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/11/2020 23:15

The mice are cute Fluffy.

FIVE WEEKS PEOPLE!!!!! 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄

Thank god it's Friday!

I've been given a load more files, so I'm a bit busier now with reviews, which is good! Though I always seem to inherit files where the previous handlers haven't worked on them for a while so my task list explodes!

Friday is housework day here. I do the kitchen etc before work and the bathroom at lunchtime. I normally Dyson when the kids have gone to school, but DH does a proper vacuum on a Friday so I don't need to!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 20/11/2020 07:08

Weeks?! Grin

I vacuum every day, I can't leave the house in the morning without it. I have a small house though so doesn't take long. It's not because of the cat either (well upstairs is but his fur doesn't get downsides for some reason).

Click and collect this morning will pop into Tesco to see if I can look at their clothes, I'm desperately looking for a decent quality animal onesie for ds. His tiger one from M&S is way too small, they had a leopard one but it's sold out and disappeared now. I found one in fat face (orangutan) but it's £30 although I do get 20% discount. And I want to pop into Waitrose for some low carb bread, hopefully they have some.

My back hurts this morning I must have slept funny.

CrazyBaubles · 20/11/2020 07:23

Morning.
Mice are coming on well Fluffy

You both make me feel like a lazy bugger - I sweep downstairs once or twice in the week and our whole house gets hoovered on the weekend. We have a little hand held hoover for anything that crops up in between but that's it - we don't generally make a mess though so it's fine.
Same with bathroom and kitchen - I do a mini clean once or twice in the week then it gets fully scrubbed on a weekend. Is that bad?

WreckTangled · 20/11/2020 07:33

No crazy, I have messy children! They're always spilling crumbs in the kitchen. As is dh actually Hmm I have a cordless shark so it only takes two minutes

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2020 07:37

Sounds fine to me, Crazy. If it was just us two I wouldn't need to Dyson (the cordless) daily, but the kids generate crumbs. Lots of them! As does DH in the kitchen. No clue how!

The house is way cleaner now I'm here all of the time and have a routine. DH didn't Dyson as much when I had my commute and it drove me insane. So now the whole downstairs gets done daily and I steam mop the hard surfaces on a Monday.

Ha, Wreck! Almost identical cross post! 🙄😂

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 20/11/2020 07:41

Fluffy it's so much easier to keep on top of it wfh isn't it? The crumbs drive me mad dh often just leaves them on the side in the morning after making his lunch Angry

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2020 07:44

My 'D'H does the same. I sometimes come down after he's gone to work (so I'll have vacuumed while he was doing the school run earlier) and there are more crumbs everywhere. Drives me loopy, I tell you.

And yes, WFH makes it way easier. I do spend most lunch breaks doing something domestic, but what else is there to do?!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 20/11/2020 07:54

Phew, glad it's not just me being lazy. I figured it's a waste of time to clean when the house doesn't need it. I do pull all the furniture out once a month and hoover under / behind it which Makes me feel less lazy!

Seems to be a general thing with men and crumbs then? DH will happily cook a meal, take out any rubbish and load the dishwasher - but never ever cleans the worktops or sink 🙄 Drives me bonkers but I try not to moan too much if he's done everything in else.
This is a theme in our house - he does majority of something but not quite all (cleans bathroom but doesn't empty the bin / puts all shopping away except cleaning stuff and squash). He's also apparently incapable of changing bedding and I don't think has ever even thought about cleaning skirting boards / doors / light switches etc. Frustrating BUT I balance it that he does the garden (which I hate), anything you need to be tall for and lots of the cooking.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/11/2020 08:05

I woke up this morning thinking "It's 5 weeks Xmas Grin but I still have loads to do "

I've done lists of what I need , I reckon most of it can be bought online .

Presents are pretty well sorted (except DD)

We usually go to Lakeside/Bluewater on a Friday night ( I try to avoid on weekends in December !) but I don't think I'll be doing that this year .

I need to do a load of tidying , sort out the cupboards and pantry .
Then make the cake , at least get the fruit soaking .

Sitting her drinking coffee at the moment , thinking about doing things is just putting them off !

pussycatinboots · 20/11/2020 09:20

Come on 70 get that fruit soaking!! Grin

My DH seems to leave a mound of toast crumbs in the kitchen every morning. He does the hoovering though, so I can't complain too much even if he doesn't really do edges or move things. He'll go around something instead of lifting it up. He hoovers downstairs pretty much every day because of the cats. I do the kitchen, bathroom and ensuites once a week and steam mop the kitchen floor twice a week - it's white Shock
He leaves empty packets and wrappers on the draining board as he doesn't know what goes where Hmm hint, the bin in directly under the draining board in the cupboard with a basket below it for recycling.🤷🏻‍♀️
fluffy those mice are adorable.
why not sure about the pink loo myself.😱
