Sorry to hear that Crazy hope it's not hurting too much.

NerosFiddle · 18/11/2020 20:16

Crazy hope you feel better soon.

It's not a colonoscopy but involves the same thing. What's more I'm paying for the pleasure 🤢.

ConstantlyCooking · 18/11/2020 23:34

Woolly I have bought the Costco tin but am planning to buy biscuit tins in ikea and then stencil names on for DS and DDiL and fill them with treats. I thought about the personalised Quality Street because they were cheaper than buying personalised (empty) tins on NOTHS but DDIL is dairy free.
The big QS tin is for me is a family tin to nibble at whilst watching Christmas films from mid December

ConstantlyCooking · 19/11/2020 06:42

36 Good morning all! the time is whizzing by. November is always the month when i go from being ahead in my planning to having to play catch up. You would think i lockdown would help - but it hasn't!

Morning!

@ConstantlyCooking, I can recommend this company's dairy free chocolate. I buy for the kids from there quite often.

It's meant to be sunny today. Still windy, however! It's been seriously windy the last few days.

Good luck today, Neros. Flowers

I won another £30 on the lottery. My dreams of becoming a millionaire are getting closer 😂

Last day of work today need to finish the online food shop, I just can't be bothered to go this week it's so stressful going to Aldi, I need a break Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 07:36

Aldi sends both of us wappy. We never get everything we want as something about it is 🤯🤯🤯

You'll have used your luck up, Wreck! Hopefully we will then get it! 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 07:37

Do Sainsbury's deliver to you? There's normally a £15 off £60 code for new customers somewhere!

OP posts:
ConstantlyCooking · 19/11/2020 08:07

Thank you @NoWordForFluffy
I making up a stocking for DDIL and these usually include a fair amount of treats. We don't have an Aldi nearby but I need a trip to Lidl for Lebkuchen and Florentines .. and maybe fudge

WreckTangled · 19/11/2020 08:07

I can't afford Sainsbury's. I've definitely used the new customer discounts on every email address we have though Grin Morrison's deliver here now and I get nhs discount but I hate their website and as I've never shopped there I don't know what I want/need.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 08:10

Sainsbury's isn't expensive! It has bigger pack sizes than Tesco on most veg, so the pack is dearer because you get more in it; the kg price is the same or less.

I get our main weekly shop for £40 or so from there.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 19/11/2020 08:26

Morning.
Sainsbury's is only more expensive here because we don't like online shopping and both DH and I get distracted and buy random stuff when we're in there 😂
DH does the food shopping now and he's very strict - Aldi then Morrison's (they do a discount for teachers too).

Feeling better this morning - I slept like the dead and my mouth is only a little bit sore today. Down side is - it's flu jab day 💉

WreckTangled · 19/11/2020 08:31

It is expensive! I've put all of our shopping into Sainsbury's online before and it was about £30 more expensive. We really can't afford it. We wouldn't survive on £40 a week food either, I spent £100 last week and the kids lunch boxes are half empty today because we just don't have anything left.

NerosFiddle · 19/11/2020 08:49

Morning.

Thank you. Appointment isn't until 6 tonight so have a whole day really to prepare myself.

Sainsbury's is dearer but I've found the points better. We have a choice of Sainsbury's, Tesco or Asda. Asda would be the cheapest but bad quality, Tesco middle of the road and Sainsbury's the dearest but best quality. We have M&S too but unlike wreck I haven't had a big lotto win 😂.

WreckTangled · 19/11/2020 09:00

Grin I would definitely shop at M&S if I could. I don't like asda either, I like their boys clothes though.

CrazyBaubles · 19/11/2020 09:01

I forgot to say thank you for all the comments yesterday too. Bit worried that it appeared as a flounce but it wasn't I promise if I ever flounce it will be in full on MN dramatic style 😂

Also, I didn't answer your question Fluffy - the tooth is on the bottom right, the one that looks a bit like a fang (no idea what it's actually called).
What tooth did your DH have out and had he left a gap or had some sort of denture / bridge etc? I'm so keen to have any advice as I have no idea what to do.

Neros Thanks for today!

Fluffy do you do other top up shops? We spend £50-£60 per week and there are only 2 of us (although admittedly we plan but don't scrimp on things anymore).

pussycatinboots · 19/11/2020 09:10

We're spoilt for choice as we've got pretty much every supermarket except booths within about 5 or 6 miles.
I don't go to Asda because they charge me to park so I end up rushing around so I don't get a fine and forget half the stuff I went for; I won't go to Aldi as I don't like being target practice for the cashier; Morrisons is good for fresh veg/meat; M&S are expensive; Tesco sell massive boxes of Whiskas; Waitrose -see comments on Asda; Sainsburys ❤ and I've got £120 nectar points saved up again!
Oh, and about Sainsburys, has anyone had any Christmas vouchers this year? They normally post 6x£10 off vouchers in November for the run up to Christmas - another casualty of Covid?

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/11/2020 09:12

Hope your appointment goes well Neros

I shop at Tesco and looking back over my orders I seem to spend about £120 or thereabouts each week. I don't think that's too bad for 4 adults and a teenager although we do have milk delivered that adds about £30 a month. DS and DD1 eat their lunch at school during the week. I might buy £5 or so more fruit mid week - mainly pandering to DS's watermelon habit.

pussycatinboots · 19/11/2020 09:14

Crazy I had an upper canine out and have left it with a gap - I didn't fancy a bridge, it seemed a bit pointless having a denture with 1 tooth and having an implant isn't possible due to all the faffing/previous surgery in that area in the past. You can't see it if I smile nicely Smile only when I grin like this Grin but it's handy for wedging a straw Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 09:14

@WreckTangled

It is expensive! I've put all of our shopping into Sainsbury's online before and it was about £30 more expensive. We really can't afford it. We wouldn't survive on £40 a week food either, I spent £100 last week and the kids lunch boxes are half empty today because we just don't have anything left.
It depends what you buy, doesn't it? Our shop isn't really much cheaper - if at all - elsewhere. Somebody linked a chart the other week somewhere on here and Sainsbury's actually came out third cheapest with the items they priced.

Plus, with all the Nectar points we get, we are quids in at the end of year.

Crazy, it was a molar for DH, so an easier decision. If it was that tooth it would've been harder. Ask your dentist which has the best chance of success / longevity. I think that would be my deciding factor.

We top up about £10-£15 per week, so not much. I also spend about £30 in Farmfoods around payday. Sometimes, where there are offers at Sainsbury's, I struggle to get to the minimum shop level online!

We don't have pets or anything to feed though!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2020 09:16

Boots, no, no money off vouchers yet. Bastards. I've had them (and loads of bonus Nectar points in with) for a few years now.

puss we're similar to you - we only live in a small town but within 15 mins we have Tesco, farm foods, Asda, Morrison's, Sainsbury's, Lidl and Aldi. Only things we don't have are M&S (they closed ours and now we have a teeny tiny 'express' one and Waitrose (that's In Abergavenny which is only 20 mins away but in the opposite direction).
We're also lucky in that we pick up a few giant bags of dog food when we go to MILs. She gets top quality stuff at wholesale price because of her business so it costs us almost nothing and while we buy meat to top it up, our dog is tiny so goes through 1 tin every other day so not too bad.

What I need is a good butcher. When we lived up north we used to go to a town and shop at the butcher and greengrocers each week, doing a tiny supermarket shop every 2 weeks and I preferred that.

Fluffy dentist said it's 50/50 about the crown but I really don't think I could live with a gap somewhere so prominent so I'm tempted to try the root canal and crown option (even though she said it can take up to 2 hours and I hate the dentist)!

I now need to stop procrastinating and work. I have LoD on in the background (I've been rewatching them over the last few weeks). Currently watching end of season 3 where Kate is chasing 'The Caddy.' Shes currently hitching a ride by standing on the outside of a lorry - I forgot how good this series was - maybe I'll just watch the end (10 mins) then jump back in to work...

NerosFiddle · 19/11/2020 10:14

Crazy we have an amazing butchers and they've just announced that they're now doing deliveries.

WreckTangled · 19/11/2020 10:20

The princess switched again is on nertflix now!

MarshmallowManiac · 19/11/2020 11:04

Morning everyone. Quite a calm day today, trees not even moving. Trying to get the bloody cards finished and some stuff put in the loft. We are quite lucky we live within a few miles of Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, M&S, Waitrose and fairly near a Tesco. We have a good butchers not too far from us with a fruit & veg next door, they have good deals and lovely local meat. They also do deliveries. If we can go to MILs this year she lives near a lovely Italian deli that always has types of pasta that you never see in the shops.

Good luck for today Neros

I have had vouchers Boots but not Christmas ones, they only go up to the week of the 5th December. Think I'm going to buy stuff for the stash this year and maybe my meat for Christmas.

Wreck many congrats, hope you'll speak to us all after your big win. Grin Grin
