Evening!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

Morning!

I've swerved my run as I'm still coldy and the times I've done some heavy exertion since having it, it's felt worse. It's dragging on a bit though. Bloody thing. It also sounds wet out there!

We're swapping to Christmas bath and kitchen towels today. Exciting! I do like getting everything into the Christmas mood. 🎅🏻🎄

Good morning all. The Christmas mugs and towels start tomorrow for us. The Christmas bath mat and other crockery will appear once I put the decorations up.
IAM planning to pick up Christmas soap at M&S after school today.
Hope you had a lovely day crazy.
Your mothers all sound very upfront about 'the talk'- Mine delivered it in whispers and kept it v brief!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2020 06:59

Mine was brief, Constantly. And medically-based. Nothing about hormones or feelings or cramps etc. It was 'Here's a pregnant woman. In order to get pregnant you need to have periods.' And that was that.

She seemed quite annoyed with me when I did start my periods. Like I was an inconvenience. 🤷‍♀️

Morning. I have a blood test this morning then wfh.

I also need to pull out the Christmas lights and room decs as I'll have it all put out as a surprise for the dc in the morning.

WreckTangled · 30/11/2020 07:09

It's really foggy here can't see a thing

CrazyBaubles · 30/11/2020 08:41

Morning.

We don't do Christmas bath towels here, and the tea towels I have don't get out put until a week before and I have to constantly remind DH that they're for show after he ruined a set a few years ago

My friend sent me pics of her decs this weekend. She goes all out - all glasses, cups and plates are swapped, she has several Christmas table cloths that she swaps throughout the month, tree up, lights inside and out (including the play house in the back garden), room decs everywhere, she has a little tree in her bedroom, Christmas throws and cushions, bedding for her and her dc, dc have decs and trees in their rooms too, snowman toilet roll, bath mats, shower curtain and towels all changed to Christmas ones, all candles, toiletries inc handwash are Christmas ones. Even her coasters get swapped. I'm going to miss going there this year, it's so over the top it's lovely.

I'm struggling to switch on my work head today 😔 I slept terribly which isn't helping.

How unfair to treat you as an inconvenience Fluffy! I think my mum went the opposite way with explaining too - she gave lots of info about hormones effecting your feelings, cramps etc but not much in the way of technical advice, so I had to ask how to use a pad etc.

Hope the blood test goes ok Wreck

pussycatinboots · 30/11/2020 08:46

Morning.
I got told nothing, and started early (10) so for my first one I thought I was dying. I stuffed loo roll in my knickers. Mum found out by my 2nd (I think I leaked a bit) then I got a pack of Dr Whites (the big oblong house bricks) and was left to get on with it. No birds and bees chat, I had to fathom it out for myself fortunately some of my friends had older sisters
Been shopping already - Sainsburys have told all their staff they have to wear masks at all times from now on as they're letting more shoppers in at a time. I'll stick to going early while it's fairly empty.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2020 08:53

We learned about sex from More magazine! Absolutely nothing from parents.

And as we were at a religious school, the only sex ed we had was strictly biological in Biology lessons. No practical contraception lessons. Weirdly, put school had barely any teen pregnancies. One in Why's year and one in mine, I think, in the whole time I was there (7 years).

I'd hope to be a bit more use to my kids!

pussycatinboots · 30/11/2020 09:00

Just 17 was v tame in comparison and Smash Hits was useless 😂

One of my friends had a baby at 15. They lived with his mum and got married at 18.
I do think part of the "chat" should include info about when you hit the menopause.

CrazyBaubles · 30/11/2020 09:28

I learned the basic biology of sex from my book. My mum pushed the whole 'you don't owe anyone anything so say no until you're ready' side of things. The rest came from friends.
I was left with the distinct impression that if I had unprotected sex once it was guaranteed to result in a pregnancy

BiddyPop · 30/11/2020 09:36

Morning, not long awake as DH has decided I don’t need to be woken. So fast coffee but no meetings today to worry about.

First overseas parcel finished last night (my sewing machine did NOT want to cooperate to finish things - grr 😖). And sending my Goddaughter a book of Christmas 5 minute voluble stories that dd used to live. And DMIL a kit to turn her white fridge into a snowman.

Still have another overseas parcel to finish (once the sewing machine behaves again, and I organise something for 1 more person). Trying to decide whether to post, courier or is it likely we could hand deliver the other (between 3 and 5) parcels (number depends on who else travels where).

And then I need to write my cards - overseas posting deadline is this day week and I have a good few to send far flung, (quite apart from the LOADS relatively local - UK and Ireland).

I did get a lovely surprise this morning - my Christmas pudding (and a few extra goodies!) arrived in a parcel from DM!!! So I don’t need to try and make that! (Maybe next year...depending on how the cake turned out!!)

But first, work beckons and coffee seems to be working to get the brain alert...

Have a lovely day everyone!!

BiddyPop · 30/11/2020 09:37

And I’ll catch up on the chat soon too

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/11/2020 18:34

Had a Staff Meeting/Staff Training today so now my brain is full up and has to be excused Xmas Grin

DH has got the cushions, throws, Dd old PJs , my old Christmas tops (which I will be wearing ) and the Christmas shower curtain out of the attic.
Couldn't find any Christmas handtowels so I must've pensioned them off and thought "Oh I'll buy new ones" (they were getting a bit scabby)

I have to put the DC Christmas Dec 1st Hampers ready to go in their rooms tomorrow

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2020 18:44

Crazy, we only have a Christmas hand towel and bath mat (for standing on when you get out of the bath), no actual bath sheets etc. In the kitchen it's hand towel and tea towels, plus the tea cosy Woolly knitted for me. The tea pot I have is too small, as is the butter dish, so they don't really come out!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2020 18:47

J17's problem page was amusing! But it was more for teens who hadn't quite got to having sex, I think. Very chaste!

There definitely needs to be more menopause education.

I used to read 'Mizz' when I was a teenager ( far far more gritty than Just 17, Jackie, Blue Jeans etc)

Nearly December , DH is getting into the festive spirit by watching Gangs of London.
The Matriach of the family is trying to persuade a young woman to give her information by means of some brutal nail and tooth treatment

CrazyBaubles · 30/11/2020 22:33

70 we watched that series. I'm not particularly weak stomached and actually enjoy a gritty murder programme but even I was a bit 🤢 with those scenes.

Not sure if anyone remembers the magazine Shout? That was one of my favourites - then moved on to More which was very full of random sex info (most of which was wrong / rubbish)

DH and I went out for tea today as restaurants etc are going to have to close at 6pm every day from Friday. Then we came home and I crocheted an ice cream for my niece for Christmas 😂
Now off to bed, I'm not sure why but I'm exhausted.

ConstantlyCooking · 30/11/2020 22:37

I used to read Jackie and a similar magazine called Diana.
I only have Christmas hand and tea towels but bath towels sound interesting. And a bath mat, plus mugs, bowls, a few plates and table mats but I usually buy them in the sales after Christmas. Xmas Grin
They will start coming out tomorrow.
Happy December everyone

BiddyPop · 30/11/2020 22:58

I haven’t been in to catch up yet. Busy day at work, and updating spreDsheets. Posted far flung overseas parcel (post office was chaos!!). Spent the evening writing all
My cards except for a couple of very local friends and office colleagues - all piled ready for distant overseas post tomorrow, and then UK; Ireland; and my own county bundles to follow every few days (well, UK one probably around 12th as not too early then, Irish a few days later).

Off to bed. Sleep well all!

BiddyPop · 30/11/2020 22:58

Nearly forgot to hang DDs advent calendar!!

ConstantlyCooking · 01/12/2020 06:42

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/12/2020 08:18

🎄24🎄

Pinch punch everyone.

I've got my Christmas mug out and I'm going to be tackling a bit more of the wrapping later.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/12/2020 08:33

Morning All

Happy December 1st Xmas Grin

I put the DC Dec 1st Baskets ( bags) in their rooms .
DD is awake she has an online lecture , DS is still Zzzzzzzz

NoWordForFluffy · 01/12/2020 08:43

Morning!

Whoop whoop for December!

Our Christmas creep is complete now...kids' bedding last Thursday, ours on Sunday, trees on Sunday, towels yesterday and the final touch: loo roll today! ☃️

It's bloody cold today. The Sainsbury's bloke was saying that his van was frozen when he got to work!
