Evening!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

Morning.

Hope you got a big fry up this morning biddy. Someone was cutting onions near me during the toy show last night.

Lachy you've got your priorities right.

Dm is going to look after dc this afternoon so I can get the tree up in peace.

lachy · 28/11/2020 13:46

It is exciting, but its also really nerve jangling. M put up a little tree last week which will take 5 minutes to take down when it comes to it.

Ideally we wanted to move yesterday or on the 4th at a push, we're all set to exchange on Tuesday next week.

We're just going to get in, shove up the decs and start decorating in the new year. House is liveable for now.

I'm in crazy packing mode, but thankfully I am 90% done Christmas shopping 🛍

pussycatinboots · 28/11/2020 13:56

lachy, I numbered every box with a big marker pen and kept a list of what (roughly) was in each box and where it was to go you don't want pans in the bedroom or pillows in the kitchen Don't overload, however tempting. Keep an emergency box of basic tools, scissors, tape, light bulbs, torch etc. Don't lose the kettle.😉 get the phone nos of a local plumber, spark and locksmith - just in case.

Afternoon. I'm knackered! Almost-5 hours at the allotment finishing the raspberry cage. So much bindweed! I'm going to be doing a lot of digging this winter to remove as much as possible. Fortuitously, the new canes were delivered today, so DH dropped them off for me and they've gone straight into the ground and been given a good soak.

The soil is delightful there. So many worms!

Boots I've definitely got to be organised. So little time the other side that as you say, I don't want to be hunting through boxes Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 28/11/2020 16:10

Chuck out everything you're Hmm about why you've still got it when you're packing! Do you book tip slots round your way? Get one booked for a week's time to shift it all out!

YY lachy good time to declutter !

I cannot give any house-moving tips , DH and I moved from a one-room-in-a-house-share to our house n 1990 using our Vauxhall Nova . Took 3 trips but it was less than a mile .

And now , with 2 DC it is a constant recycle and putting into storage cycle

Cake is now in process of making . Fruit is soaked , ingredienys weighed out and the tin is lined .
So once we've had dinner I'll start cooking it.

It feels a bit calm before the storm , I know work is going to get busier (within Covid restrictions)

Trip to Bluewater with DD next week
Got a couple of orders to await delivery and an M&S pick up.

Then hopefully no need to brave the shops except food .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/11/2020 21:30

Cake(s) now baked , I did two 6" square (got one of those divider tins ) so one to decorate and one plain.

The kitchen smells delicious now .
DD and DS tried some of the Raw Cake before I put the fruit in, they approved .

ConstantlyCooking · 28/11/2020 21:40

Well done on the cakes 70. I only make Christmas cakes for the smell of them (and the cake mix).
Lachy when I last moved, I numbered all boxes and then stuck numbers on the door of each room rather than labelling rooms as main bedroom etc. This made it easier to make sure they were put in the correct room for unpacking.

WreckTangled · 29/11/2020 06:47

2*6!!
*
I've been awake since six but everyone else is asleep so I don't want to get up and wake them.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/11/2020 07:28

Morning!

My cold had felt better the last two days, but it's back with a vengeance today with a bunged / snotty nose. Clearly being outside for so long yesterday wasn't good for me! 😂

It's tree day today. Whoop!

WreckTangled · 29/11/2020 07:33

Turns out dd was downstairs all along. She's had a bit of an upset stomach, says it happens every time she eats minced beef?! She has a cold though and her period is due so I'm guessing it's more likely that.

I'm hoping to get to the garden centre today for a look around but depends if I can rally the troops in time. They're not keen to get dressed at the weekend.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/11/2020 07:54

You've just reminded me that I wanted to get a book for DD about periods etc. So I've just bought one on eBay. She can read it then ask me any questions she has.

Good morning all. I have just woken up after being wide awake for three hours in the night - lucky it is Sunday! Fluffy I find the Boots First Defence nasal spray is v good for stopping colds if you use it early enough and for helping them go faster if you don't.
My usually 'not-too-bothered-about-Christmas DH suggested that we buy the tree and decorate today !

CrazyBaubles · 29/11/2020 10:39

Morning. I had such a nice lie in this morning. Going to have a Christmas focused day - I’m going to my parents to help them decorate the tree (tradition) and my mum is doing a ‘Christmas’ dinner - she’s got a Turkey crown, sausage-meat stuffing, pigs in blankets and sprouts. Can’t wait.

Be ready for random questions Fluffy. My mum gave me a book and I had so many random questions (I remember asking why boys didn’t get periods, will having a period make me smell, will other people know when it’s happening - and if they don’t, am I allowed to tell them among many other more ‘technical’ questions) 😂

WreckTangled · 29/11/2020 11:02

Enjoy your day crazy!

We're not doing anything today now dd wasn't up for it in the end.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/11/2020 11:50

Nice quiet day here .
Just had a Sainsbury delivery .
Everyone just mooching about .
I'm off to update Lists !

Enjoy your Pre-Christmas Christmas Dinner Crazy Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 29/11/2020 13:08

We've done trees. I need a drink / lie down now. Xmas Grin

I don't remember much about 'the chat', Crazy. Other than mum used a medical book to show me. I think letting DD read the book and then ask questions is best. 😂

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 29/11/2020 13:21

My mum left when I was a toddler and I lived with my dad. I don't remember asking my step mum any questions I was 12 so suppose I knew a bit from school, maybe I did ask questions beforehand but have forgotten. Dd hasn't asked many questions apart from how long will it last.

Filming a piano exam is stressful! Dd is so hard on herself.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 29/11/2020 18:35

You had a far more advanced 'chat' than I did Fluffy. Mum did not use a medical book for me. 🤣

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/11/2020 19:48

My DD (18) didn't ask me anything , I reckon they discuss it all with their classmates and she just asked me to buy her xyz when I was out .

She does get a bit quiet'n'crampy at her time of the month though .
We pity the blokes in the house when she's menstrual and I'm menopausal. That's a lot of female hormone there Xmas Wink

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/11/2020 19:51

Very nice trees there BTW fluffy

I noticed loads of early decoartions this year , our local town centre has the lights up on lamposts .

I need to push DH up into the attic to get the boxes down , then on Tuesday we'll start

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/11/2020 21:09

My mum handed me a leaflet and said if I had any questions I should ask my older sisters Grin

Outside lights and 3 trees put up this weekend by my DDs. No doubt they will be nowhere to be seen when it's time to take everything down again.

Wreck thank you for your PM. I'll dig out all the yarn I have and post photos tomorrow.

CrazyBaubles · 29/11/2020 23:26

Had a lovely day. DNephew and niece were in awe of the lights and decorations, it was so cute to watch.
Turkey dinner was so tasty 😋 - and my parents are one of the last houses on their street to put decs up this year!

I think I asked my mum a lot of period questions beside I started very young and none of my friends could help (I was 10).
No such help was given to my sister either though why - she was just directed at me.

70 I used to feel sorry for my dad too. At one point he had my mum (who suffered badly from PMT), my auntie (mid 20s then), hormonal 16 year old me and hormonal 14 year old DSis all kicking off / crying etc - he was very very outnumbered!

Just climbing into bed - I haven't completed any of the crochet projects I wanted done this weekend. Despite having time I've been a bit useless
