Evening!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

Neros when my mum used to do it she's pour out a mug of lemonade and then pour that into a milk pan to heat up on the hob. I put a mug of lemonade into the microwave and heat up 30 seconds at a time until it's hot. Then I add the whiskey. It's very nice with a good glug of DH's Jamesons. At this point you can also add a slice of lemon, some honey or a bit of brown sugar and a Beecham's Powder

I wrapped a few more presents yesterday. Most of DD1's are done now and I made a start on DD2's - if you can class putting a hoody into a gift bag "wrapping" 😂. DS's last stocking filler was dispatched yesterday so I'll do the stockings once I've got that. DH's potting bench arrived at my friend's house yesterday too - her husband is going to build it for me and I've bought one of those giant gift bags designed to wrap bikes to put it in before I bring it home. I'm waiting on one present for DD1 and then all I need to do is get e-vouchers for nephews/nieces and a magazine for each DC to finish their stockings. I'll pop into Tesco to check what's there tomorrow. I've nearly finished DD2's socks and they've taken me just over a week so far, so I'm confident that I'll also have a pair made for DD1 before Christmas.

We are putting our outdoor lights up at the weekend and DH and I are constructing the trees on Monday ready to decorate on Tuesday. So I think we are there in terms of preparation.

Consultant later today for the results of my tests.

CrazyBaubles · 27/11/2020 08:58

Morning. Big fan of hot toddy's here when I feel ill but I've never considered heating up lemonade and adding the ingredients to that.

I ordered more presents yesterday - spent £55 in WH Smith's (and I then got £10 off). Present for MILs DH, eldest nephew, my friend and DH and a pen for me to get me over the £50 I needed to spend to get the money off so it was free

Ideally I'd like to get MIL something in addition to what she's got already and I need to think of something else for nephew (he's 10).
I'm going to a Christmas market type thing on Sat where I'll hopefully pick up a few foodie bits for df's hamper (and some treats for me I hope) - then aside from making a thing or 2, I'll be done 🤞🏼

CrazyBaubles · 27/11/2020 08:59

Good luck for the consultant later Woolly

NoWordForFluffy · 27/11/2020 09:05

Good luck, Woolly! 🤞

Good luck today Woolly

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 27/11/2020 09:35

Good luck with the consultant today Woolly.

Putting the tree up this weekend, probably on Sunday. All the lights are up outside ready just need switching on.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/11/2020 10:59

Everything came back clear so I'm discharged. He also said I'm through the menopause so that's good as I appear to have got away with just a short spell of insomnia as the worst of my symptoms.

NerosFiddle · 27/11/2020 11:02

That's great news Woolly. Will you have a wee glass of something to celebrate?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 27/11/2020 11:02

That is good news Woolly. I wish I had only had gone through the insomnia part but we are all different I suppose.

WreckTangled · 27/11/2020 11:05

That's great woolly! What a relief

BiddyPop · 27/11/2020 11:08

Crap evening due to email and then phone call from school, burnt dinner as a result, dd foul form when we talked to her, and then after tossing most of night I finally slept and overslept so missed 90 minutes of a high level meeting in Brussels (virtual attendance). This year can do one...

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/11/2020 11:22

Oh Biddy that sounds stressful. I hope your day improves and you have a lovely relaxing weekend ready to start next week refreshed.

MarshmallowManiac · 27/11/2020 11:58

Morning everyone. Warmish here not too bad for November anyways, probably why there was an ice cream van outside our house last night! OMG only 4 weeks and so much to do, need to get my head down and power through.More corridors off in my school and the kitchens are closed due to positive result. Finally orders DSs presents last night, hope to order DDs presents today.

Biddy that sounds horrible, hope you have a lovely day and a great restful weekend.

Wreck I sleep with my mouth open too and suffer constantly from sore throats, hope she feels better soon.

We are going to try and wrap some pressies later Woolly, glad to hear you are signed off with the consultant. My DH loves an occasional tipple of Jamesons to warm the cockles.

Glad to hear your DDs test cam back negative Neros

70 you should go to the top of the wifey charts for that, Greggs are lovely. Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 27/11/2020 12:25

Great news all round, Woolly! Get a celebratory drink in you (assuming you aren't collecting DS later)!

I can confirm that it's chilly outside. Probably because it's 'dry', but 98% humidity. Chilled to the bone, I was, after spending a couple of hours digging the old raspberry roots out. I know I missed some, but I'll dig it over before planting anyway. The buddleia also had its autumn prune finished. I started a while ago but filled the green bin, so had to wait until it was emptied before finishing it!

My new raspberries have been dispatched from T&M, so I'll finish my cage digging at the allotment tomorrow so it's all ready for them to go straight in. I'll be burning the huge pile of bindweed roots too. I'm never going to be free of it, but I've got loads out, so it'll be better, hopefully.

Biddy, that sounds shitty all round. CakeGinWineFlowers

Biddy the good news is that the toy show is tonight

WreckTangled · 27/11/2020 14:21

Biddy sorry you had a horrible evening and your day didn't start well, hope things have improved.

I have officially finished my Christmas shopping. There's some children on dh's side but he can sort that as I've done everything else.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/11/2020 14:40

Why look at this photo. This is the December weather forecast for my postcode. Let's hope they aren't lying to me 🤔

Interesting weather Woolly. I am not convinced of that mind but I could be feeling ungenerous as I am working Christmas night 🤣

NerosFiddle · 27/11/2020 15:19

Lucky you Woolly. This is ours

Used to love the Toy Show Neros

BiddyPop · 27/11/2020 15:51

Thanks all, will catch up properly later but productive day hitting deadlines (just way too many, but boss forgave me being late when I had concentrated on the bits she had lost track of!!) and went for a walk instead of eating for lunch so brain feels better...

And yes, Goy show tonight (after announcements on levels changing next week...not holding out much hope TBH)

BiddyPop · 27/11/2020 15:52

Goy?! Toy!!! 🧸 gah 😖 obviously not enough fresh air!

BiddyPop · 27/11/2020 15:53

Who’s getting ❄️ for Christmas?! I’m betting I’ll be the same as Nero’s (but dry is good enough for me!)

NoWordForFluffy · 27/11/2020 16:17

My Raynauds kicked in nicely today. In the fridge section of Sainsbury's. Took ages to get back to normal. My feet went stone cold in the garden too. Not a good day for my extremities!

We are forecast snow on CE, which would be perfect.

Our 'feels like' is 0° tonight. 🥶🥶🥶🥶
