Why do they need so much stuff? Each to their own but that to me is way OTT.

gypsywater · 08/11/2020 13:11

Please adopt me

Ignoringequally · 08/11/2020 13:12

My 7 year old is getting a Lego Friends set, some binoculars, a set of books (Daisy and the Trouble with books), an LED drawing pad and a knitting set, which I thought was quite a lot.

PickleWithEverything · 08/11/2020 13:13

Hmm, I think you might be a bit light on the Lego... maybe a few more sets, so they have enough to play with one a month?

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 08/11/2020 13:15

If you can afford it, then crack on!

They enjoy them & don't get overwhelmed so I can't see any problem.

Spied · 08/11/2020 13:16

I think the boys are Lego heavy. I'd probably put a set each away for their Birthdays and add a few bits of non-lego to the pile.
Dd's pile sounds perfect.

InTheLongGrass · 08/11/2020 13:17

Are they getting a stocking too? Or is that literally everything?

We are in a similar situation - presents only come from us or my parents. Typically they get 3-4 things from us (so, say a Lego kit, skates, teddy and ideas book from DS1's list), one other thing, plus a stocking with little bits, chocolate, books, a jigsaw, a game.

It sounds like a lot to me, but my Facebook will be filled with pictures of kids unwrapping a lot more than that on the 25th - purely because of the size of their family network. So in the scheeme of things, it's probably not masses more than some. Disclaimer- I dont know the prices of the Lego sets. I'm guessing 30-40 a set, but if they are tye really big ones, the total value could be much more.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:18

Close to £3k for everything I think
But again I save all year for this one day

You must have spend a couple of K

wallyb · 08/11/2020 13:20

😆

Fouroclockonamarblemorning · 08/11/2020 13:20

That is a ridiculous amount of presents.

Betty94 · 08/11/2020 13:20

Obviously each to their own and if your kids love it then your kids love it but personally I'd be getting little bits for the kids at Christmas, maybe a main present and a few bits and bats and saving that much for an amazing holiday as I always think experience is better than material things but obviously it's enough not sure why you posted asking if it's enough, unless you have any 3k to spend?
gypsywater · 08/11/2020 13:21

3k for Xmas presents! Again, please adopt me. I earn a good whack but my budget would be more like 500 for 3 kids (TTC at mo so this is hypothetical!). 3k! Shock

doodlejump1980 · 08/11/2020 13:21

That piano Lego alone is nearly £400!!! For a 9 year old???
That’s more than my entire Christmas budget full stop.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 08/11/2020 13:22

Sounds good to me as long as they’re things the kids want. I never really understand why people ask if the amount is ok though. Just give them what you want. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ignoringequally · 08/11/2020 13:22

If you’re happy with it then it’s no one else’s business. I set a £1000 limit for everyone’s presents (3DC, my parents, PIL’s, SIL and BIL, 6 other family members and 2 children of friends), we could allocate more if we chose but that’s what I’m happy to spend. We’re all different.

gypsywater · 08/11/2020 13:23

I do think if you are very wealthy (which you must be to have 3k disposable for presents!) then crack on. Lucky kids!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/11/2020 13:23

Wow! With a budget like that I’m guessing that 2020 hasn’t been a financial challenge for you.

For us that would be far too much - too much stuff and too much money. There’s very little variety for the boys - think outside of the literal Lego box!

Each to their own I say.

CodenameVillanelle · 08/11/2020 13:23

£3k!!! Shock

sunshineandshowers21 · 08/11/2020 13:23

you obviously know it’s enough... i spend a lot on my kids but i don’t feel the need to come on mumsnet to humblebrag by pretending i don’t think i’ve got my kids enough 🙄 there’s nothing wrong with spoiling your kids if you can afford it, but don’t come on mumsnet all wide eyed making people feel bad that can’t throw three grand at their kids.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:23

Every year before that I have got non lego its never played with and I end up giving it to charity shop.. annoying. That is why its lego heavy

wallyb · 08/11/2020 13:24

My dc would like to be adopted too. I think i'm really tight! Admittedly I booked lapland uk which was £400 ish but who knows if that will happen.

10brokengreenbottles · 08/11/2020 13:24

How do you have the Roman Colosseum set already? It hasn't been released yet.

DS1 is hankering after it, but it may be beyond our budget - which has already increased above normal this year to accommodate Diagon Alley for DS3.

MintyMabel · 08/11/2020 13:24

Is this a joke?

gypsywater · 08/11/2020 13:24

Please tell us your job to be affording 3k gifts?!?! I want tips haha
