I think good for you. If you can afford it why not.

@Ywosdwos

Again not being insenstivie.. I've seen people with bigger lists and I've never felt sad.. if u are sensitive to it then maybe u are the one with the issue not me.. I was putting up my list like a million people have before me... do u go on and moan at everyone that puts their list on here that is bigger than yours... grow up
I couldn't give a shit, I'm not sensitive at all but posting an excessive list like you have is inconsiderate to say the least. My DCs are getting what they will value and appreciate this xmas, as I hope yours are, but sharing lists is not on and especially when you are asking asinine questions like 'Is it enough' when you know damn well it's excessive.

I don't have a list to share, nor would I if I did. My children are much older than yours and I've never shared an Xmas list on social media and never well because I don't feel the need to brag.

pinkksugarmouse · 08/11/2020 13:42

Could you put some away for birthdays? 🤔

OptimisticSix · 08/11/2020 13:45

Wow! It would be masses for my kids but each to their own. My mum and dad always bought me heaps and I was an ungrateful brat at times. My kids get much much less and are generally appreciative - although they have their monents 😁

RunFromMyScytheAndMyMerkin · 08/11/2020 13:46

Not much of a mix of things. A lot of bricks which is a bit dull.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:46

Again if you are no this forum u would see thousands of mums doing it all the time, what makes u cuss at my list and not theirs... like I said grow up.

@rocketspin I don't think it's fair to say that. Every has different opinions but as OP isn't getting into debt or selling herself to fund it then it is her choice.

OP - not a good idea to post things like this. It is seen as bragging.

Glitterbubbles · 08/11/2020 13:47

We don't have kids yet but we do have nieces/nephews who get not dissimilar amounts for Christmas and birthdays and honestly some presents remain unopened until the following year as there's just too much. They play with a fraction of what they receive. Agree with PP who said the less they get the more they appreciate it.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:47

I may do. My 9 year old is 10 in December so may half the load and same for 11 year old who is 12 in Feb

OP posts:
wallyb · 08/11/2020 13:47

Well most people have said it's excessive OP, you said you weren't sure. What do you think now?

Lazypuppy · 08/11/2020 13:48

£3k on christmas presents 😯 each to theiemr own but i would say yes you ate spoiling them.

I think it is way too much, but then why don't you buy a few things throughout the year? Why does it all have to be christmas and birthday?

At least what you've bought is stuff they'll play with, i just find it sad when kids then expect such a big pile every year.

My daughter is 3 but we are sticking with 1 main present and a handful of smaller presents.

This year its a wooden train set (£60), a doll from Disney store (£16) and 2 boardgames (£10). Santa is giving her a minnie mouse toy (£10). Family are getting extra buts to go with train set, some puzzles and another doll, and some clothes

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:48

@Ohdoleavemealone clearly it is. I've just seen so many do it so thought whats the harm... lesson learnt

OP posts:
Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 13:49

@wallyb yes excessive. Have decided to split between bday and Xmas

OP posts:
kitschplease · 08/11/2020 13:50

More than enough, and I think you know that Grin.

kowari · 08/11/2020 13:51

3K on presents? It's not about saving all year, most people wouldn't have a spare £250 a month or £60 a week to save, whichever way you look at it! Oh, and people on NMW work hard for their money too.

nimbuscloud · 08/11/2020 13:51

So in less than an hour you’ve changed your mind ??🙄

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 08/11/2020 13:53

Have decided to split between bday and Xmas

There’s no way I’d be splitting between Xmas and birthday based on what others decided was too much. But I suppose I’d never have felt the need to ask others opinions. Just do what you want to do and stop caring what others think....I seem to say that a lot lately !

whoareyouIwonder · 08/11/2020 13:53

Yes it excessive.
Yes it spoiling.

Do you seem like the sort of parent who cares about that? No.

rocketspin · 08/11/2020 13:55

@Ywosdwos

Again if you are no this forum u would see thousands of mums doing it all the time, what makes u cuss at my list and not theirs... like I said grow up.
Because I've seen your list and I haven't seen any others. I also haven't cussed and I also don't need to grow up. Now who is being sensitive? Clearly you are disappointed at my views because you know for yourself that it is excessive and regret having bragged.

Have a nice day.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 08/11/2020 13:56

I don't think it's too much, but I'm Irish... kids tend to get a tonne of stuff from santa over here. Not just stockings. We normally spend about £300-£400 each. Probably more this year as they are getting a ps5.

What I will say though, is my friend spent hundreds on lego one year for her ds and he spent the day in tears because there were no big surprises. I think her daughters had more variety from santa basically. He got upset.

RatherBeReading · 08/11/2020 14:19

A grand per child and you haven’t managed even one decent book each. Confused

Barton10 · 08/11/2020 14:21

Your Mum is right that is excessive and the more you buy the more they will expect each year. I went overboard with DS one year and held half of it back for his birthday.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 08/11/2020 14:26

Your Mum is right that is excessive

Confused You can’t state that like it’s a fact. It’s opinion and everyone’s different. Weird thread though.

Namechanger0800 · 08/11/2020 14:31

Ludicrous .....I always think how overwhelmed the kids will be when I see these silly lists of ott present buying. Plus there's no surprise or special treat element when a kids gets everything available
