Actually have books thanks didn't add that on this list

GameSetMatch · 08/11/2020 14:36

3k 😳

I think it’s too much Lego, what about something to wear? Or something they might enjoy but haven’t thought about... such as a table football table or an air hockey table? If you’re spending 3k I’d half that amount and buy Merlin passes or similar it’s a lot to spend on toys.

SendHelp30 · 08/11/2020 14:38

I don’t think it’s excessive. The only niggle I would have is that they don’t all have the same amount of gifts but I’m aware that might just be me. I always get mine the same number of gifts regardless of cost as they’re too young to understand prices but wouldn’t want one upset because they got less than their sibling.

EatTheHamTina · 08/11/2020 14:39

No doesn't look spoilt to me. We go over board at Christmas in this house. Grin

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:40

Mine is cost related rather than amount if that makes sense. If I started down the path of amount of presents the list would be bigger.. they are used to having an unequal amount of gifts. My daughters pile is the biggest but least spent on her so far but as she's younger I won't match for price there andnits plenty for her.

@EatTheHamTina thanks.. I love overboard Xmasses but as they get older well my boys anyway they want set things but the girl its still fun as she gets lots of little cheaper cool things and much for varied.

Ptemium · 08/11/2020 14:42

As long as, like you say, you work hard for your money. Hmm

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:43

@GameSetMatch they get clothes all year round as and when they need them.. they had a football table last year, ended up not being used so the kids decided to donate it to the local homeless shelter...

DryRoastPeanut · 08/11/2020 14:44

Oh this years stealth boasts of “I’ve only spent eleventy brazzilion quid on each of my kids has come early!

Sorry op, I’m sure the unemployed single mum, furloughed since March and trying to explain to her 4 year old that Santa could only afford a colouring book and a new pair of shoes and pyjamas will feel better.

Thedogshow · 08/11/2020 14:44

I think it’s way too much! Our kids feel very loved & are always so excited about Christmas but will get one thing they really want, eg Lego/a toy, a couple of nice books or books that they want, a new water bottle, a new jumper/sweatshirt/coat type thing and a couple of other small fun things eg some marbles, telescope, a purse, some socks.

We could afford to buy a lot more but I think it’s teaching them that excessive amounts of material things equal love, is not good for the environment and I want them to focus on other things too at Christmas like giving things to charity, helping other people- they seem like better things to teach the kids.

I know that probably sounds really smug, I just think it’s so wrong to spend so much and teach kids that it’s just about getting loads of stuff.

But in answer to your question, certainly it is enough.

SistemaAddict · 08/11/2020 14:45

How can you possibly think that's enough? They need a pony each too. If they don't already have one of course. If they do, then you should probably get them some property in Monte Carlo for when they are old enough to go themselves. You could rent it out in the meantime.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:45

@Ptemium I do work hard but I'm sure everyone on here does.. I guess u do what u got to do.. we have a holiday each year but due to covid we didn't so the holiday money went on Xmas as well as the Xmas fund its self so got more then we would normally..

somelemons · 08/11/2020 14:45

Where's the pyjamas, the slippers, the socks, the stickers, the chocolate selection boxes, the felt-tip pens, the new pencil cases, the annuals, the Aldi Lindt reindeer, the grow-your-own Christmas tree kit?

It's all a bit lego-heavy to be honest.

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/11/2020 14:45

No OP that’s definitely not enough. I spend nearly 10k per child for Christmas. Tsk very stingy.

itsovernowthen · 08/11/2020 14:45

To answer the original question you asked, yes it is enough, in fact it's way more than enough.

I think your mum is also right that you are spoiling your DC; would they miss 3 sets of Lego each? Probably not. Your update that you will now be splitting this like between Christmas and Birthday is a very good one.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:46

@SistemaAddict bitter much... ? If they want a pony they would have a pony but they don't and I personally don't agree with getting pets for Xmas Smile

Yes as they get older it's very specific items!

EatTheHamTina · 08/11/2020 14:47

The only thing that scares me about your list is how much Lego there will be to stand on.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:47

@itsovernowthen I was on the fence with splitting before this post and wasn't sure and this post made me tip over to splitting them up.. my kids however aren't spoilt, this is coming from my mum who over bought for us as kids every year but somehow has a problem with me doing the same

It is a lot of stuff but at least it's not screens.
@SistemaAddict bitter much... ? If they want a pony they would have a pony but they don't and I personally don't agree with getting pets for Xmas Smile
No, that's not bitter - that's sarcasm.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:49

@EatTheHamTina they don't open boxes and leave the lego lying around anymore. They did when they were younger. Now they open one set complete the set, display the set and move to the next.

OP posts:
Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:50

@blacksax sarcasm as they are bitter.. if they made this post I wouldn't make sarcastic comments unless I had issues with the post. Again if u have issues with the post don't comment, move on

OP posts:
AnnaMagnani · 08/11/2020 14:51

Without even opening the post I knew the answer would be:

Yes, too much
Where are the books

And it was.

Ywosdwos · 08/11/2020 14:51

@user1493494961 I don't like screens. They have tablets and I limit that stuff as its not good for them, the middle child is in the middle of 11 plus tuition and I dont want his brain melted by a screen constantly
