I put mine up on Monday. Nothing to look forward to this year so why the hell not Confused mother thinks I've gone mad because im usually the grinch who puts the tree up 12 days before the big day.

It's made me happy this week with its twinkle and sparkles Smile

No. Not until mid December in this house- you know, when it’s actually Advent Hmm - left up to me it’d go up about the 20th, but DH prefers it around the 14th.

timothytoeseatenbyaghoul · 04/11/2020 19:27

I used to be the same (as in last year and previous) but what the hell 🤷🏻‍♀️

I will be soon! We’ve just bought a new tree and I’m thinking the same as you why not! It will be nice to look at some twinkles and sparkles. ✨

Saladfingersscaresme · 04/11/2020 19:32

I’ve brought 2 new trees, decorations and lights today, they will be going up tomorrow, old tree is going up in the conservatory. Normally I do tasteful, this year I’m doing naff Christmas overload, fairy lights round mirrors, windows and the mantelpiece. I’ve also brought 3 Elf’s to sit in various places. Enjoy your 🍷 op. My mother also thinks I’m mad.

HomerRoberts · 04/11/2020 19:36

God no. Things are weird enough without having Christmas decs in November.

Surely not putting your tree up too early would actually give you something to look forward to though?

timothytoeseatenbyaghoul · 04/11/2020 19:37

Yayy more nutters Grin welcome Wine

This is so out of character for me, my teens came home Monday and was like Shock
Little ones are loving it though.

2020 has seriously been a wtf year though so why not!

But please don’t be on here telling us how you’re sick of the sight of it on Boxing Day!

timothytoeseatenbyaghoul · 04/11/2020 19:40

Homereoberts you see any other year I'd have the same attitude (believe me I've been the first person to slag off the November decorators) but I'm think why not add some more craziness to this already crazy year?
Btw I've only put the tree and tree decs up. The full on naff stuff will come on dec 1st.

SpnBaby1967 · 04/11/2020 19:43

No, usually strictly the first weekend in Dec as my birthday is 30th November. But this year my big birthday plans have been wrecked so I will put the tree up early, with twinkly lights and sit under it drinking champagne

popcorndiva · 04/11/2020 19:43

No even though I love Christmas, it doesn't feel right until December. When it hits midnight on December 1st on go the Christmas tunes, up go the decs and I crack open the mulled wine

73kittycat73 · 04/11/2020 23:36

I've had a few decorations up for weeks. Xmas Grin The tree is up and will be decorated any day now.
I'm with you OP! Why not enjoy the lights and sights a bit longer this year.

Bouledeneige · 04/11/2020 23:40

No really not. I love the build up to Christmas and getting the tree with my kids. That happens in December.

myhobbyisouting · 05/11/2020 00:10

I'm about as "Christmas" as you could possibly get...and it's a no from me for my house.

But as it's your house, you enjoy 😊

GuyFawkesHadTheRightIdea · 05/11/2020 00:17

Friday for us, just get bonfire night done with and we're good to go.

DioneTheDiabolist · 05/11/2020 00:26

Mine won't go up until mid December, but I'm delighted that others are doing it so early.Halloween Grin When 3yo DS had to be isolated, I would take him on night walks to look at the Halloween decorations people had put up.

So knock yourself out OP.🎄🎄🎄

Jedimastermama · 05/11/2020 00:42

Tree and decorations going up this weekend.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy Grin

VerbenaGirl · 05/11/2020 00:51

So tried to buy tree at weekend, but just couldn’t carry it. Ours usually goes up beginning of December. Think I’m rebelling against my Mother, who only puts a (very small) tree up on Christmas Eve!

fastandthecurious · 05/11/2020 00:57

I was holding out till first weekend of December but DH has told me he's working that weekend and we like to put the tree up as a family so will be last weekend in nov this year for us. I've bought new decorations this year and I'm struggling to hold out😂 but I know I'll be sick of the sight of it come Boxing Day if it goes up any earlier

Inkpaperstars · 05/11/2020 01:07

It's pretty out there tbh Grin but if you enjoy it so what? More time to get some pleasure from the tree and the decorations I guess.

Mustbethewine · 05/11/2020 02:06

Usually the 25th of November but might do a little earlier this year, won't be this week or next though.

Jroseforever · 05/11/2020 08:34

Surely there always lovely stuff to look forward to?

Time with family, lovely food, long walks, good films, children loving their present etc

I’m a single parent of two young children. And I’m in poor health Atm

But wow... I’m so positive and looking forward to Christmas!

june2007 · 05/11/2020 08:41

No because its, NOVEMBER .

Lovemusic33 · 05/11/2020 08:51

Not yet but if schools close then I probably will. At the moment lockdown won’t really effect me, I’m working and kids are at school.

I bought some tree decorations yesterday though 😁

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2020 08:52

Gosh no, it was October last week, it’s far too early. Xmas needs to be special. Which means it’s for a limited period.

I think if it makes you happy though, it’s fine, I’d feel a bit silly.

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/11/2020 08:55

I'll be putting mine up soon, I've just had a mega week at work preparing for lockdown or else I might have put it up already 🎄
Hopefully today I'll be able to tie up all my loose ends and I'll be able to get a good clean done tomorrow and the Saturday is The Day 🎄🎄🎄
