I put mine up on Monday. Nothing to look forward to this year so why the hell not Confused mother thinks I've gone mad because im usually the grinch who puts the tree up 12 days before the big day.

It's made me happy this week with its twinkle and sparkles Smile

My baby is due on 2nd December- I want to have decs up by then but might do last week in November

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 07/11/2020 09:21

I will probably put outside lights up earlier (just plain white on a tree) because it cheers up everyone!

Imsayingnothing · 07/11/2020 10:40

Not me, not yet, but I have seen two up in other people's houses when I've passed in the street.

Bellyfat · 07/11/2020 10:56

Mine usually go up around 8th December, but this year will be a bit earlier.

Every winter I go Christmas shopping with my daughter, she has a school inset day at the end of November and so we had been planning on going then. Instead I think we might put the tree up, watch films and have a Christmas day at home.

pinkksugarmouse · 07/11/2020 13:43

No. It will go up on the 29th of November as is traditional in our family. It's DD's birthday and it's what she has as for for years.

pinkksugarmouse · 07/11/2020 13:49

That should have read asked for. She always wanted the tree up for her birthday. As it's the end of November that's OK. If she was a Summer baby I would have had to say no. 😂 She is 18 this year so a very special family switch on.

Allthedoggos · 07/11/2020 13:51

Not yet, but I am sorely tempted. The only reason I'm holding off is because I'm a bit worried about peaking too soon and it not feeling special by the time we actually get to Christmas! I will be doing it closer to the start of Dec than I usually do tho, usually it's about mid month but it'll be up as close to the 1st as I can get this year.

Badabingbadabum · 07/11/2020 13:54

I saw one yesterday! There was a sold sign outside so I figured they had just moved in and didn't see the point packing it all away to get it out again. I do have a lovely star light in my window and it definitely feels cosy and cheerful. We have a real tree though so it would not look good by the time christmas came if we bought one now!

SilverOtter · 07/11/2020 13:55

Not yet, but we will definitely be putting ours up early (as in late November rather than the second weekend in December).
This year has been so grindingly awful on so many levels, I just feel like some twinkly festiveness would be therapeutic!

earthyfire · 07/11/2020 16:27

No, not until December, I dontdon't like rushing through my life. I also don't see the point of putting it up in Nov to take it down on Boxing Day which is what some people I know do. I like it up in Dec until the New Year as we are still celebrating with family up until that point usually (not this year of course).

WanderlustWitch · 07/11/2020 16:44

We put ours up last night and adding finishing touches today. Mine doesn't come down til 6th January but then I love how it looks. I have twig trees with lights dotted around the house all year round anyway.

I'm all for doing what makes you happy. We've got to get through a tough winter - whatever it takes! ❤️

Mine is going up end of the month 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Squirrelblanket · 07/11/2020 16:52

I'll be putting mine up at the end of November, but I have been listening to Christmas music pretty much constantly. It cheers me right up!

ChrisChambersNeverMisses · 07/11/2020 16:54

Can we have pictures of decs up please? I can't face doing mine so early but want the Christmas cheer!

Jroseforever · 07/11/2020 16:58

Those putting up your secs so early

Doesn’t it take the edge off the children and they just get used to it being around as by Christmas it will have been around for best part of two months!

We do it day after they break up from school. They’re so so excited and remain loving the tree for the week or so it’s up.

Burnthurst187 · 07/11/2020 17:01

At least op knows she's weird

DanaScully53 · 07/11/2020 17:11

Usually put mine up xmas eve but dont think I'm bothering this year as there will just be the 2 of us. My sisters putting hers up in a couple of days so everybody enjoy your trees and the run up. Smile

tsmainsqueeze · 07/11/2020 17:13

My 12 year old has put her tree up today it's in her room .
It has tiny warm rice lights and looks beautiful , she is very happy and i don't mind at all.
I will be putting big tree up early december which is before our usual time , we all need cheering up !

throwaway10000 · 07/11/2020 17:18

I’m resisting the urge until December!! It is difficult as I feel the same way as you. I might start decorating in late November? It doesn’t feel as premature thenGrin

I have also been resisting the urge to buy Christmas snacks! Have bought a few decorations though

throwaway10000 · 07/11/2020 17:19

I have put up some hanging vine leaves to create a “leaf wall”. Loving it! It would fit in nicely with Christmas decorations too.

anxiiousone · 07/11/2020 17:23

My reasoning is the celebrations for me are to get through the bleakest of winter I.e. the progressively shorter days. Christmas decs keep me going until the shortest day of all passes by around 21st Dec and by 26th I feel the decs have done their work as the days have started to lighten. O am far North and the days can be very short Grin

crimsonlake · 07/11/2020 17:30

It's going to be a long Christmas for some of you, hey ho enjoy.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 07/11/2020 17:40

Getting ready to, they are out of the shed.
My kids first one with it just bring us after a hideous year. Not even including the virus in that.
Nobody should get raised eyebrows for having a bit of fun that harms nobody.

lilfoxfur · 07/11/2020 18:43

Mines up! Did it with ds10 and dss7 yesterday. We danced to Christmas songs whilst doing it. It's been a shit year and we had a happy evening, no regrets

SecondTimeCharm · 07/11/2020 18:47

I’m right there with you OP! Ours went up today and it’s far more naff than usual too but I can’t say we haven’t all had big smiles on our faces all day Grin

Although I love Christmas I normally hold out until Dec 1st as DD birthday is Nov 30th, but we all decided to go Lockdown Xmas this year! Love it
