I put mine up on Monday. Nothing to look forward to this year so why the hell not Confused mother thinks I've gone mad because im usually the grinch who puts the tree up 12 days before the big day.

It's made me happy this week with its twinkle and sparkles Smile

We don't have a tree, but last year I filled a huge glass vase with non-Christmas coloured but glitzy decorative stuff, & it's still there.Grin

The really seasonal Christmassy stuff will go out in December.

I'm living with lots of sequins at the moment. We all need a bit of sparkle in our lives in the winter months.

WanderlustWitch · 07/11/2020 19:11

Really nice to hear some Christmas smiles have been raised already. We had Christmas songs on while we put ours up last night, lots of laughing, then watched Arthur Christmas. Tonight it's The Grinch Smile

ThistleWitch · 07/11/2020 19:12

God no! mid december, early december at a push!

SlipperTripper · 07/11/2020 19:35

I'm itching to put the tree up, mainly so I can wrap the presents that are scattered round my room and getting in the bloody way and put them underneath it! Not sure that's an entirely fair temptation for the younger members of the household though...

MushMonster · 07/11/2020 19:38

That is early! But if it makes you happy, well why not?
We have 4 cats, and actually my husband asked when is the tree going up this year today? We will wait till the beginning of Christmas, because my furry ones will climb it and play with the baubles when we are at work/ school.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 07/11/2020 21:43

No but I dont need my Christmas tree up for festive sparkle. I have fairy lights and truglow candles (so like real ones it makes no difference) on all year round.

I did get my "Christmas " candles out though and found some Christmas angels while I was at it, so they're out too.
Also dug my fur throws and cushions out today.

I also have seasonal paintings in my arches by the chimney breast and just finished one of the winter ones. So overall, pretty cosy and bright in here.
Christmas will go up in December as usual. Am looking forward to it

timothytoeseatenbyaghoul · 07/11/2020 21:44

Ahhh so glad to see some of you doing the same. I've only put the tree up and some tree decs. The rest of the naff stuff will go up in December, including hanging ceiling decorations 🥳 I'm going all out this year 🤦🏻‍♀️

Too early for me.

29 November - advent candle wreath on table

1 December - advent calendar and lights and decorations in children's room. That is the day we start reading Christmas stories so... and Christmas Wreath on the door

5 December - decorating the rest of the house

12 December - decorating the tree

I won't do it until December as I'm not feeling Christmassy yet. But I am feeling it creeping in so have started The Big Clean in readiness. I think, psychologically, room by room, I'm purging this year before ushering in the festivities. Everything has to be immaculate before the decs go up as we go all out and I don't like the idea of it not being pristine. I've deep cleaned the snug and the dining room and sorted a lot of stuff to give to charity. Today I'm doing the kitchen and conservatory. I did pick up a new tomte decoration yesterday whilst buying groceries and DS has hung it up. It makes me smile every time I walk past it.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 08/11/2020 10:34

@anxiousone.
Well aren't you nice. Thank you, and you're welcome. I hope you like them Xmas Smile

HintOfVintagePink · 08/11/2020 12:24

I have started the big declutter prior to the big clean prior to the tree being put up!!

Set of NINE ffs!!!!!!GrinGrin

LadyCatStark · 08/11/2020 19:44

We went to a Christmassy garden centre today (for ideas, it’s eye wateringly expensive there) then we went to B&Q and bought new decorations as we’ve moved this year and want a new theme. They’re surprisingly beautiful, I thought B&Q would only have basic ones but they had the exact theme I was after. We didn’t buy the tree as we were unsure if the 7’6 one would fit (it won’t once it has a star on top!) so we’re going back this week for the 6’ one. It works with Alexa so it’ll be mildly amusing to say “Alexa turn on the Christmas tree” for a while 😂.

We won’t actually put it up til 29th November though as, even though I love Christmas, I think we’d get bored of it if we put it up now!

timeforawine · 08/11/2020 19:48

Going up in a couple of weeks for me, need new lights, getting compact lights so even more twinkle!

fairydustandpixies · 08/11/2020 19:53

This will be the first year that I'm not putting up a tree or decorations. I just can't be bothered.
