As the title really, when is your tree going up this year and is it different to any other year due to Covid, or are you keeping it roughly the same time as normal?

Same as usual, around the first weekend in December. With a strong caveat that I’m due a baby on 12 December, so normal scheduling may he interrupted if they make an early appearance Grin

Week or two before Christmas Day. I enjoy Christmas but it's not the big high point that it seems to be for many people.

Only when we have painted the sitting room. Worked throughout this, taken on extra shifts had holidays cancelled due to colleague's isolating and DH has been scraping up the last of the work in his industry while he can. Our walls are covered in sample pots of paints that are sold out everywhere. I have a week of end of november so I'm hoping to get it done then, and put the tree up on my last day off (1st) that's if my holidays aren't cancelled again.

Around two weeks before Xmas. I tend to do it the weekend we go to a grotto so it can vary depending on when we can get tickets

PinkJam · 31/10/2020 10:13

Last weekend in November to cheer everyone up and make the most of it Smile

ellentree · 31/10/2020 10:15

First weekend in December. Though if we are able to buy a real one the week before and are in lockdown again I think we might be early this year to cheer us up!

CherryPavlova · 31/10/2020 10:15

Weekend prior to Christmas, as ever.

Ours is going up after remembrance Sunday this year. I'm so fed up with this year and at least it will be something pretty and twinkly to look at. I've been on the mince pies since beginning October so why not!

Children break up on 16th
We will put up on 17th

niki26 · 31/10/2020 11:17

Pre children I used to put mine up mid December but DD1's birthday is on 1st December and we usually have a mini party of sorts and has become a bit of a tradition to have at least the tree up and decorated for that party.

This year will be different - I imagine no family over at all - but I think it would be nice to keep to putting the tree up and getting dressed up etc.

Of course it will be!!!

I’m a single parent of two young children with no family over for Christmas ever.

We have a wonderful Christmassy time!

22nd November (Stir Up): make cakes and pudding
1st December (Advent): advent calendars, lights, candles, mistletoe and wreaths:
24th December (Eve): calendars down, tree and decorations up
5th-6th January (Twelfth Night to Epiphany): tree down
2nd February (Candlemas): lights, candles and wreaths down

Normally it's the 1st weekend in dec but I'm considering putting it up on the last weekend of nov this year if I can convince dh.

IggyAce · 31/10/2020 11:41

Usually goes up last weekend of November. I might get the lights out and dress the fireplace a week earlier to help lift spirits especially if we end up in lockdown.

bakereld · 31/10/2020 11:44

Kind of wanted to put it up tomorrow...

Only me & DP. Nothing else to look forward to, so might aswell :D. Already cracked open the mince pies.

WitchesSpelleas · 31/10/2020 11:45

19 December.

gretagreengrapes · 31/10/2020 11:45

A real tree. The 2nd weekend in December, no different to usual. Last year the trees were selling out really early though! So maybe we need to do it the 1st weekend.

LindaEllen · 31/10/2020 11:49

It's not.

We threw away all of our decs after last Christmas, because we planned to get the whole of downstairs decorated, plus the garden. Then covid came and it slowed things down, so the living room has ended up not getting done - just the garden and kitchen.

I'm not buying new stuff until the living room is done, and to be honest, I'm not in the mood for Christmas anyway. So there we go.

Waves to @jojomolo

Just us then 😀

Just get a 2 foot letterbox tree from Bloom and Wild, comes with decs, lights and everything in the box.

Sometime in November when I can face the thought of getting everything out of the loft.

Love them being up. Hate the 'doing it'
