As the title really, when is your tree going up this year and is it different to any other year due to Covid, or are you keeping it roughly the same time as normal?

Real tree, so not before mid December. It has to look nice until official coming-down day on 6th Jan.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/10/2020 15:19

I always put a small real one with lights outside the front door on 1st December though.

CraftyGin · 31/10/2020 15:21

Around 22nd December, when DD is due back from Uni.

Ninkanink · 31/10/2020 15:24

I’m going to have a smaller potted tree with lights outside this year. That will go up on the first, along with the outdoor lights. 🎄

@Deelish75 oooh wow that’s a fab idea, thanks, yes very impressive, that will definitely be happening now Grin

KitKatastrophe · 31/10/2020 16:01

My husbands birthday is the first weekend of December so we will probably put it up on the second weekend, which is more or less the same as usual.

PumpkinsPatch · 31/10/2020 16:03

Normally do first weekend of December.

Meant to be in Center Parcs (hahah thats not going to happen)

So if we are away then we'll do it the weekend after I imagine.

maxineputyourredshoeson · 31/10/2020 18:25

Ours is going up tomorrow Grin I absolutely adore Christmas and would always put our tree up in November, DH is not so crazy about Christmas and December 1st is the earliest he will consider, no matter how much I try and change his mind! But he suggested putting them up tomorrow to cheer the DC up - both have been isolated from school as their bubbles had confirmed C19 cases and we’ve now heard that their school has had to close. We’ve had a bit of a Halloween fun day and tomorrow will be Christmas, they can’t wait.

Squirrelblanket · 31/10/2020 19:56

We have a real tree and always put it up the last weekend in November. It's always lasted fine. 🤷‍♀️

Ninkanink · 31/10/2020 20:09

It depends on the type of tree - some last better than others - and on how much water it gets.

I might get ours at the end of the first week of December (that is if we’re allowed out for ‘non-essentials’ at that stage...🙄).

Scanner20 · 31/10/2020 22:05

Usually around 9th dec mine has gone up but this year up by the 1st, may do it the last weekend of November. Even more now with lockdown we won't be doing much else that weekend.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 31/10/2020 22:14

Same as usual, weekend before Christmas so around the 20th and down by new year. I hate seeing it up in January as just feels wrong.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 01/11/2020 03:16

Friday (ie 6th November)
Since we are going back into lockdown we have 4 weekends full of watching all the Christmas films so might as well have a twinkling tree in the corner too.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 01/11/2020 03:23

@CoronalsWatching if I had the energy by Christmas day evening I'd take them down then too but that is more due to ds's birthday being boxing day and wanting to keep the 2 event's very separate.

Lysianthus · 01/11/2020 08:50

Ours went up last weekend. I’ve worked non stop this year, and DD graduated and has only just found a job (now in doubt!) so we wanted something to make us feel joyful. And it is, truly, joyful. It’s a balsam hill bought in the sale a few years ago so won’t be dropping needles. 🌲 We will turn on the lights on 1December.

Sammilouwho · 01/11/2020 09:08

Today! I need some joy haha

lovelemoncurd · 01/11/2020 09:13

Maybe 2nd week Dec. Not spending loads on a big tree this year though.

cliffdiver · 01/11/2020 09:16

First weekend in December for the lounge / dining room trees.

DDs will probably put their bedroom trees up on the last weekend in November.

All trees are artificial, but I may buy a mini potted real tree.

Do you mean the lights on the tree? If so might I suggest you go ahead and turn them on now? It is November, after all, and the tree needs lights!
AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2020 09:29

Same as usual - around 8th December otherwise the needles go everywhere and it doesn't look so good by CD. Other stuff starts creeping in at the start of the month - fairy lights and various other things.

SouterSally · 01/11/2020 09:34

Second week of December, takes an age as we have more than one tree, and I faff on for ages getting the house all done.

Saw the first Christmas tree on 29th October!! Must admit when I drove past on the evening after work it looked lovely all lit up in the drizzle and dark, but way to early for me, but if it makes them happy......

Hormonecrazyhell · 01/11/2020 09:34

I can see us having no tree at all if this lockdown last longer than 4 weeks. We need a new one

TheSandman · 01/11/2020 09:36

Christmas Eve (as normal) and down on the 6th Jan (as normal).

Scbchl · 01/11/2020 09:37

Will still be the first weekend in December for us.

Bikingbear · 01/11/2020 09:54

My plan is mid November for the outside lights and I'll probably put Christmas bedding on around the same time.

The tree can wait until December.
