Just that really, inspired by posters on the bargain thread talking about craft paper and ribbon.
Has anyone started wrapping yet? If so, please can we have some pics!

@Fromthebirdsnest Matalan have red/white candy striped wrapping paper in a two pack with a bauble print as the other roll.

ColdNovemberNights · 11/11/2020 23:10

Will start wrapping soon.

I have about 60 things to wrap and I'm sending them all, as my family have decided, thats its just to risky to all be together

So will start wrapping this week !

I’ve finished wrapping, other than one big one. I’ve gone for three types of paper; gold glittered, silvered glittered and gold marbled effect. The same wire edged cream and gold tartan ribbon on each gift, with white handmade gift tags with gold writing. The overall effect is quite pleasing (if I do say so myself!). It looks like a pile of polished stones Grin

i need to start wrapping soon, really soon in fact, i have a lot to wrap Blush as stated above, its always brown paper and i have a really really huge roll of it to wrap with so i shouldnt run out . will try for ribbons this year for older peoples gifts as they appreciate the fanciness more than the younger lot do

For those with a lot of wrapping to do may I suggest a “ wrapping station”?
Also known as an ironing board .( It is good to put it to some use )
It is the right height and I use the iron rest for sellotape etc .
I hang the scissors from it and make sure my glass of wine is handy .
I have tried wrapping on the floor but generally end up with cramp !

I did the kids last week's. Here's a mid wrap picture. I am never usually this organised but the top shelf in the wardrobe I keep them on collapsed, and I wanted to wrap them before I hid them in the attic incase they go up and discover them. I get Paperchase wrap because most of it is recyclable, I buy it in the January sales every year and add to the collection. I like a mish mash if nice paper, hate all one paper or each person with one paper. My favourite is one with a really gaudy print of 70's baubles all over, sadly you can't see any in this picture. I use ribbon on a few randomly.

This is my absolute favourite gaudy one Grin. I really want retro baubles like this too if anyone sees any. I've seen some in glass and ceramic, but glass ones always get broken in our house.

@user68634 your present wrapping has taken me back to being a child! Presents that my gran wrapped were always in mismatched crazy wrapping! I really like the black with spots paper you've got.

So glad we are now getting some pictures on this thread! Sadly I won't have much to wrap as father Christmas leaves toddlers presents set up ready to play with.

@HintOfVintagePink could we see a photo? They sound beautiful.

AlwaysLatte · 12/11/2020 08:11

I've decided to wrap as I go this year. I've bought metallic silver and metallic gold paper with tags, ribbons and decorations of the contrasting colour on each. The idea being that it looks good and the leftover paper can be used for any other occasion during the year.

PinkJam · 12/11/2020 15:28

@user68634 Love your photos! They look fab!

Of course! They are balanced rather precariously to stop the bows getting squashed!

@HintOfVintagePink that looks so beautiful. I love the ribbon too.

abouttogoon · 12/11/2020 18:21

I just came across this lovely thread. I've used a roll of wallpaoer lining before and sponged it with the kids or used potato stamps etc, worked well when they were small ! Looking forward to seeing all the fantastic photos!.

HintOfVintagePink · 12/11/2020 18:59

Thank you very much Blush.
The offcuts are too lovely to throw away. I think I might try and make paper chains out of those.

polkadotpjs · 12/11/2020 19:17

Can anyone tell me where to get stamps and ink for my bargain brown paper. Google sent me crazy so a recommendation would be great thanks!!

polkadotpjs · 13/11/2020 15:59

Is this such a stupid question I killed the thread? Confused

Mistletroll · 13/11/2020 16:05

This may be a bit humbug like but during lockdown1 I had a massive clear out and I've been less wasteful. I not buying any wrapping paper and instead using up all ends from previous years on extended family and others and my DH and DC are getting theirs wrapped in Spider-Man and Marvel leftover birthday wrapping.

unebaguettepastropcuite · 13/11/2020 16:10

All of our are brown paper, but some of the paper has Christmas trees, or Santas stamped on. Brown card labels and red and white string. I actually things it gives quite a harmonious look when everything is under the tree (although we do it for ecological reasons)

Nodancingshoes · 14/11/2020 14:36

I used brown paper and ribbon one year to be more environmentally friendly..I ended up using so much tape to stick it down that I think it defeated the object 😂😂😂 back to normal wrapping paper this year I think

SpamIAm · 14/11/2020 15:09

@Nodancingshoes I've bought brown paper but had the same thought re the amount of tape I've used on the first few presents I've wrapped 😂 I've just ordered some recyclable Kraft tape which someone recommended on another thread so fingers crossed that'll do the job.

TheCrow · 14/11/2020 15:11

@user68634 love your wrapping! Charity shops usually have big baskets of retro baubles like that for pennies, love having a rummage through to look for treasures 🙂

Nannyamc · 14/11/2020 15:17

Use the brown paper and red and white twine. Managed to find pine tree shaped wooden gift tags. Wrote all names and year on tag with a sharpie. I used the twine to attach to box. They are beening used on the christmas tree as ornaments.
