Just that really, inspired by posters on the bargain thread talking about craft paper and ribbon.
Has anyone started wrapping yet? If so, please can we have some pics!

I did the brown paper and ribbons thing last year. Tbh i wouldn’t bother again. This year I’m using wrapping paper from the dogs trust as I like supporting them, it’s not glittery so it can be recycled.

2Rebecca · 24/10/2020 14:52

It's not Christmas eve yet! I really don't think about this stuff until December

Thatwentbadly · 24/10/2020 15:42

@2Rebecca if you don’t want to think about Christmas yet them maybe don’t post on the Christmas board.

I don’t think the Christmas board is the right place for you then. 😀

For everyone looking for ribbon this is a great site - ribbons, garlands, twine, decorations, gift bags etc at wholesale prices and no minimum order.

theribbonroom.co.uk/about-us.html

I think I'm going to go for newspaper with wide red gingham ribbon and some red gingham gift bags for smaller gifts.

Why wouldn’t you bother again with this?

Brown paper here with large tags made from last years xmas cards- I cut the fronts off suitable ones & save

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 25/10/2020 00:31

Brown paper here the same as it is every year!! Some years i use red and white ribbons and edible candy canes, totally depends how much time i have to get things wrapped. The younger members of the family i buy for know father christmas wraps in brown paper you see Wink

Spacerader · 25/10/2020 06:15

I've wrapped everything. I've also completed about 75% of my Christmas shopping.

Come Christmas it will be a surprise for myself and dp what the kids have because I more than likely would have forgotten by then.

Some of dps presents are arriving today, they will be wrapped immediately and hidden.

@Londonmummy66 thank you, great site!

lazylinguist · 25/10/2020 07:10

Grin I haven't even thought about beginning to plan what I'm buying people yet, never mind actually buying or wrapping anything. Wrapping happens a couple of weeks into December for me. I love the idea of wrapping in fabric. But last year I bought a mahoosive roll of lovely Christmas-printed brown paper from Amazon and there's tons left. I will get some paper ribbon to match it.

MrsPworkingmummy · 25/10/2020 08:24

Great thread. Could someone please point me in the direction of the best place to buy recyclable Kraft paper? Ideally in a mix of colours so the children have something different to other family members.

@Londonmummy66

Thank you for the intro to The Ribbon Room.
It's a brilliant and possibly unique website. Star

@Risingsuntheearth

Wilko does really good wrapping paper. Although I’m quite disappointed this year. There’s no foil/sparkly detailing Blush.

I’ve always wanted to use brown paper with red and white twine and then seal with wax stamps.

I find WHSmith do the best wrapping paper. Although it’s quite expensive

I'm very happy to see shops cut down on things which can't be recycled. Sparkly and shiny paper is destined for landfill after Boxing Day. 😔
Ownerofmultiplechimps · 25/10/2020 13:17

I always use recyclable paper here but beyond that not much point in being creative with my wrapping as no one bar me & my mum appreciate it. I use a different patten/design for dc so no need for labels. Usually get Dh to take boys for a sleepover with my Mil & do my wrapping with a few drinks & nice food bits but that likely won’t happen this year so will need to figure out when I can do it without prying eyes around

eenymeenymineymo · 27/10/2020 00:09

Loving this thread, so many good ideas.

If I wrap too soon I forget what I have got/sorted for the various family & then I see more Christmas goodies in the stores & buy another gift.

So the easy to buy for end up with lots of stuff (here at home in several secret hiding places) for me to sort through - usually to keep for another occasion ... & the always difficult to buy for are still on the shopping list as Christmas Eve looms.

So I need to physically "see" what I have before I can start (finish Grin) the gift wrapping

Those gift tags look fabulous MyHouse2011

TheSeedsOfADream · 08/11/2020 13:56

I am late this year as I can't find any paper I like. I like traditional wrapping paper, the reds and greens etc. I'm also in Italy so not all online stores will ship to me. If any wrapping enthusiasts see anything let me know! At the moment I'm probably going to end up with the John Lewis but I'm not overly thrilled. I did find some lovely traditional Hallmark but on Amazon US and though they'll ship it would cost as much as the paper!
I love wrapping, and like to do it in the afternoon with either Radio 2 or Christmas Spotify playlist and a candle to keep me company.

yellowsun · 08/11/2020 14:07

I’ve got some copper, brown, red and green Kraft paper with lovely ribbons and brown card tags.

Trumpton · 08/11/2020 14:32

I was playing around with origami wrapping and wrapped an empty box .
I do like it but might be a step too far even for me !

Can we have a Christmas wrapping thread?!
MyHouse2011 · 11/11/2020 22:15

@Trumpton that’s fantastic!

Fromthebirdsnest · 11/11/2020 22:20

I haven't stated wrapping get however I had a white and silver theme last year that was beautiful when under the tree il make sure I take a few pictures when I start to wrap ... I also need to find some candy stripe wrApping paper if anyone has seen any ? I've been doing the same for the stocking and Santa present for the last few years and it's become the official North pole wrap 😂 x

meow1989 · 11/11/2020 22:34

Ooh, joining for inspiration. I tend to do brown paper with string and wooden tags/trinkets such as bells, different for each person.

Wrapping whilst drinking mulled wine in the living room is my tradition just for me!
