Thread 10 - the one where everyone starts writing the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 03/10/2020 12:04

NEW INFO PLZ READ
**please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Just realised that IWOOT have a referral scheme, 20% off your first order which should stack with the 2 for £15 Christmas jumpers? I'll pop a link on the referral thread.

I’ve just ordered a couple of art out of the box games from Amazon - £6 instead of £15 (which is what they’re currently selling for on present indicative).

Look like they could be useful to keep kids occupied during lockdowns - had good reviews. If the price difference isn’t much I’d usually try to support PI but at less than half price and needing two, I went for Amazon.

Another tip for rembering/refunding codes and great deals/ideas if you aren’t organised enough to write them down - take a screenshot on your phone and it’s much easier to find them again. You can even edit the screen shot to add a colour code (blue for parents, red for kids, etc) or write on it in bright colour to find it even more easily.

Can anyone suggest decent art supplies?

Thank you @wibdib; my daughter will love that art game. Never heard of it before.

Another vote here for he Aldi ballycastle baileys, I think its actually nicer than the official one. Also I read somewhere that they are doing the strawberry and cream version this year too for anyone who likes that!
I spotted the strawberry and cream one in store today, about £5.99 I think

catkate10 · 06/10/2020 19:44

Just got an email saying my Penhaligon's miniature set order has been cancelled Sad, no reason given.

Puffalicious · 06/10/2020 19:45

Sorry, that was for Ugly Pow!

Seedsofadream glad you ordered the coffee pot ot really is amazing. My DH is a coffee obsessive and he recommends it to everyone.

Ordered the coffee, so thanks to PP, great to support an independent.

xTinkerhellx · 06/10/2020 19:48

@catkate10 was that the male or female one?? I ordered the female one last night and will be gutted if its cancelled Sad

myhobbyisouting · 06/10/2020 19:48

My rocket and rose tees turned up. Really nice quality!

catkate10 · 06/10/2020 19:53

@xTinkerhellx it was the female one unfortunately.

TheHalloweenFairy · 06/10/2020 20:08

I’m actually in love with those fat face badger slippers! But they are only available in the men’s department! As a women’s 5 how many pairs of floofy socks would I need to wear so that the size small would fit?! Grin

IveBeenGood · 06/10/2020 20:09

I am currently still reading p14 out of 33, so what I’m asking may come up by the time I navigate to the end, whilst being distracted by the bargains 🤣

Recommendations for coding games for children had been mentioned on an earlier thread. I’ve tried searching but it brings up loads of stuff from years gone by and not what I had read previously. So, if anyone can recommend a coding gift for my 11 year old nephew, that would be fab.

Not a bargain, but may get cheaper - I’ve just bought my partner Bigtrak for his birthday. Something he wanted as a kid and never got - he is a 70’s child. It is a coding thing but costs £35 and that’s a touch too much for what we usually spend on our nephews.

Thank you!

Twilightstarbright · 06/10/2020 20:09

I got the last bottle of Christmas gin in my local M&S Grin

lolarabbit · 06/10/2020 20:11

Typo 25% off everything (not sale items) until midnight Wednesday I think.

peasando · 06/10/2020 20:15

Lights4fun have some good discounts in their outlet section, including lots of lovely fairy lights and also light up Christmas Eve boxes! I've used them loads before and always been happy with quality (although always end up spending too much, so am limiting myself to looking at the outlet page this year)

Sunshineskies · 06/10/2020 20:22

My penhaligons order got cancelled without an explanation too catkate. No idea why. Didn’t use any promo codes and ordered them literally a second after I saw the post about them so it’s not like they might have run out.
I actually needed them for my aunt’s birthday which is this Friday! I’d ordered them to go direct to her address. No idea what I’m going to order now that’s going to get there in time 😭 She’s having a really crap year too and I think those perfumes would’ve really cheered her up.
Any ideas what I can get her instead? She loves make up and perfume but really into her posh and expensive brands. Budget £20 so not a lot of options. She likes fashion too. Not sure what food or drink she likes unfortunately. She’s in her eighties.

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 06/10/2020 20:23

My penhaligons order came within a day - bizarre! I used a code for a free sample set, but that didn’t come (although the four free samples did). Nice free box.

Notlongnow1 · 06/10/2020 20:24

@IveBeenGood
I bought this for my son which I thought was great for the price. Says 5+ but my son is 5 and needed a lot of support. I think a 10 year old would get a lot out of it independently but may depend on how much interest and experience they already have.

I bought some pastels from Home Sense yesterday for about £1.40. They had lots of branded art stuff in the clearance section (coloured pencils, water colours, sets of tubes of acrylic paint , sketch pads, brush sets etc.)

If you've got one near you it might be worth popping in.

Merriwicks · 06/10/2020 20:27

Recommendations for a coffee machine.

My dh has found a new love for lattes. I dont drink coffee and have no idea about anything coffee related. Canyou buy machines that make lattes or are these only kinda shop drinks. Clueless! If the are coffee machine type drinks, any recommendations. Thanks

IndieTara · 06/10/2020 20:29

@Merriwicks yes you need one with a milk frothed for proper lattes though.

Tassimo do Latte capsules but because it's long life milk they don't taste the same.

Both Nespresso and Tassimo have just introduced a subscription service with a free machine too
