Thanks @Anydreamwilldo12 for thread title

please read the thread is moving so fast atm and it’s pretty hard to keep up! I was just wondering on people’s thoughts on this so did a super quick questionnaire here . I’m not sure we’ll find a perfect answer to suit everyone but would love your feedback on if it’s an issue or not.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@Lockdownhairdontcare sorry! I'll try again... for the amazon £10 purchase to get ~£10 back for prime day - I thought this chord crib sheet was great for any guitar fans. For £2.97 they look really comprehensive. I got a couple of them and a little wooden Jaques of London puzzle for £6 to top up chord and scale crib sheet

Thanks so much for the Liberty colouring book bargain, @Bumbleumbo, we visit every year to buy a new ornament and this will be a smashing cheer up pressie if we can't get there this Christmas season.

As a bonus, there's also 5% cashback at TCB for Liberty purchases right now.

I keep missing out on the buns, literally as soon as I go to sleep the price drops. So just letting y'all know I'm turning in now....

in the meantime I got this rainbow cake and buns duo for £9. It's not the gift set kit with the tins, but I think the boxes still look good and the rainbow cake I think usually goes for about £8-9 on its own. Will be fun to try it out!

Like it just how it is. Just posting deals will be sterile. Like the chat and requests for help.

Oh wow, I’ve had 415 responses but it’ll only let me view the first 40 without paying £25 a month to upgrade, how frustrating! But amazing how many people have responded since last night, that’s amazing!

So from the responses I’ve had and managed to read the majority are happy as they are so we will keep things as they are. I just found it moving so quickly things got lost and it’s difficult to keep up and didn’t want to put people off, but if most of you are happy then I’m super happy too. I just want the threads to work for as many people as possible to help everyone out but I guess this year is a bit of an odd year and lots of people need a bit of festive detraction from the real world and are on an extra budgeted Christmas and are starting earlier than usual because of how things might be nearer Christmas. Usually we’d be on about thread 2 this time of year! Every year I wonder if we will make 25 threads (because 25th December is Christmas Day, 25 threads a year I somewhat of a mental aim I wonder if we’ll make it to), every year we make it to maybe 20 or so but never 25. This year I think will be the thread of 25 Grin .

So a couple of tweaks going forwards based on the questionnaire -

  • I know we’ve encouraged this before and I know it’s on the op but if you could ‘watch’ the thread rather than placemark when you join that saves people scrolling through posts. You’re very kind thanking me at the start of threads to placemark but truly it’s not necessary.

  • the thread title will be varying around the usual typos or mentions of the current popular buys we are looking at to help people know what the current thread trends are without always having to scroll through every message or to allow them to search the previous thread for the initial links

  • polite ask that if you see people speaking of something you’re interested in, where possible please search the thread (you can do this on safari by writing the word in the webpage box and then scrolling down to one this page’ on the options to find every incidence of that word on the webpage. I don’t know how to do it on the app or windows, sorry) rather than asking straight away for it to be repeated. Obviously if you can’t find it or can’t do it (I’m not sure you can load the whole thread on a phone) that’s different to taking a couple of minutes to search first.

@Bearbehind I could, but then I’d have to add up all the responses for each option manually —and I’m lazy— 😬

@HanPanPeg originally I’d compile all the popular things in the op but it kind of got out of hand and so much work and would change so quickly and links would soon become out of date.

I hope that all sounds ok and people are happy going forward. I’m not looking to change things, I just want to make sure things run as well as they can and as many as possible can access what they need 🧚‍♀️ 🎄.

To use it on the app, press the T icon and select B before you start typing.

Also I use bookmark rather than watch.

Think its because you had a space after first *

Looks like you have to do an asterisk immediately before and after...

not a bargain just a test

Blush For some reason when I try to do bold it has never worked, so please excuse me if I don't.

In case it is helpful, to seach the full thread using google, select view all messages from dropdown menu at the top of the MN page, then do to the three dots at the top right of the browser and use 'find in page.'

I suggested on the questionnaire that if a product becomes particularly popular for example the Oodie.
Then maybe it would be worth someone setting up a chat specially for that as there has been so many recommendations, offers, sellers etc then that way keeps it all together and doesn’t clog up the normal chat.
I don’t mind either way as I just scroll past bit might be helpful for the super popular stuff.

Went to Costco for wrapping paper. Majorly disappointing it’s the same designs as last year.

Still, we only bought 2 of the 4 last year, so got the other two.
