Thanks @Anydreamwilldo12 for thread title

please read the thread is moving so fast atm and it’s pretty hard to keep up! I was just wondering on people’s thoughts on this so did a super quick questionnaire here . I’m not sure we’ll find a perfect answer to suit everyone but would love your feedback on if it’s an issue or not.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

UggyPow · 01/10/2020 20:18

Thanks for the Emma Bridgewater offer (Can’t find the posts now) - Children’s GD gave Sweet Peas to GM when LH was born - ordered the Sweet Pea mugs as a Christmas gift & the Amazon Teabags & will make a nice hamper from the DC with them as the special item

MrsBhappyface · 01/10/2020 20:18

They have those lindt chocolates in home bargains aswell but for £2.49. X

woodwaj · 01/10/2020 20:29

I went to Aldi today to pick up the mini chocolates (thanks to the poster who mentioned those!) And they had gro clocks for 19.99 and they were mentioned a lot a few threads back. Ive never bought one so dont know if that's a decent price!

FrolickingLemon · 01/10/2020 20:34

If they have the 500g Lindt Neapolitan chocs in home bargains for £2.49 then I'm off down there tomorrow and I'll be selling them on Ebay!

workingfortheclampdown · 01/10/2020 20:36

@thelegohooverer These are Brio connectors - IKEA's are solid so a saw rather than just brute force would be needed to dislodge anything.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/10/2020 20:36

www.littlegoatgruff.co.uk have a great sale on kids and adult organic clothes and they also sell lanka kade animals other eco toys and household bits. Postage is free over £30 which I spent easily!

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 01/10/2020 20:55

@CoffeeAndEnnui thank you for the Fantastic ribbons tip! I bought the slightly larger Christmas bundle with over 200 m of ribbon, and with the discount october20 it was £22 with free delivery - really chuffed!**

TheSeedsOfADream · 01/10/2020 20:58

@CoffeeAndEnnui

Another lovely ribbon site with a handy discount at the moment is Fantastic Ribbons. You can apply their "october20" to bundles too, making some of the 74 metre Christmas sets jolly good value!
Oh my word those ribbons (which I do not need) are leaping into my basket!
dementedma · 01/10/2020 21:01

Aldi have their Florentines in. Just saying

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 01/10/2020 21:02

Thank you everyone who recommended the realistic baby boy dolls in the previous thread. Annoyingly, dd is now saying she wants a 'princess doll' instead as a gift from her soon to be born sibling.

And so the cascade of pink and sparkly stuff begins… I guess 😭

(I thought I'd bring my children up to be children of nature who would only play with twigs or wooden toys handcrafted by indigenous tribes. Not princess and unicorn crap!)

CoffeeAndEnnui · 01/10/2020 21:05

I feel SO much better that our home won't be the only one drowning in ribbons this season. I've already done 3 Ribbon Room shops this autumn too (for their really sweet gift bags, to put crystals in) and Christmas ribbons snuck in with all three baskets. OopsBlush

BadgerFace · 01/10/2020 21:11

Thanks for the QVC tip! I tried to use a referral code but it wouldn’t work but there was £5 off on the website and 4% cash back from Quidco.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 01/10/2020 21:15

Not Christmassy but I do need some cheap and cheerful ideas for poor DD who, in her second week of uni has to self isolate with her flatmates!
Luckily they get on (so far) but I’m trying to think of a few cheap bits to send over next week or so via amazon probably as I have Prime. I’ve just ordered a choc hamper that she can share. They have cards and a couple of board games. Any ideas? Don’t go looking especially, I just can’t think if there is something obvious.

mrsdavegrohl · 01/10/2020 21:17

I ordered Molten Brown too. It appears each code can only be used once. I went through them all until I got one to work! I've popped mine on the referral thread.

I also ordered those light up flying things from amazon, one on each account as I need 2!

What about some exfoliating foot masks? You can buy Footner on Amazon or get cheap £1 versions in Home Bargains. Hours of fun for all involved.
Gustavo1 · 01/10/2020 21:25

I have matalan codes if anyone would like to Pm

CoffeeAndEnnui · 01/10/2020 21:27

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight, we bought a pack of little chafing tins like these at the start of lockdown, some sticks and a tonne of marshmallows/crackers/chocolate buttons etc. to toast (WAY cheaper than buying a 'proper' kit!)

It's been a really fun and novel cheer up activity (despite the fact that we have an actual fireplace) on gloomy evenings and something exciting for DD and her friends to do at a distance from each other when it's been dry enough to be outside.

If you shop around or pop a few options in your Amazon basket you can get a dozen tins for not much more than a tenner.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 01/10/2020 21:32

@AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings, the plush princesses from The Disney Store are gorgeous toys and not too horrifically sparkly. If you could persuade your DD that something cuddly would be good they could be the way forward...

And I'm sure some thrifty soul here will have a codeSmile

Natural blonde - most student I know would appreciate some booze!

TakeMeToYourLiar · 01/10/2020 21:38

@PinkDaydreams

Wow thank you for all of the suggestions, I'm really grateful for them Smile Yes I'm finding that alot of the sets have pointless signs/lamp posts/trees etc that won't get played with. That train shed is perfect as my son likes opening and closing doors (awaiting an autism diagnosis). I've had a look on eBay and it seems to hold its value well too. Thank you for the caution against brio, it's good to know that non branded is just as good. Now to decide on what to get!
Off topic but if he likes opening doors to you have the Melissa and Doug latches board?
