Nero have you really? 😳
Wow! Well done! 💐🤗

Mrsmadevans · 24/09/2020 08:17

Wreck l am scaling back too my dining room present room is quite stark in comparison to normal years 🤗

CrazyBaubles · 24/09/2020 08:19

I very rarely use Twitter Woolly. I don't really understand how it works and don't often see anything that interest me. I think I'm using it wrong!

MrsMad no teachers don't get any PPE. DH has none in a class with 27 kids all day, but the visiting wellbeing specialist who came to talk to the kids about the new way the school runs / the changes etc worse a visor, apron & gloves 🙄

That's awful about the car - what on Earth are they covering up??

Short sightedness and astigmatism here MM

Well done Neros 🥳🥳 Wrapping is one of favourite parts!

Cold, cloudy and drizzly here. Might have to break out the heated airer later, I don't see it getting warm enough to dry clothes on the line.

I'm waiting for my October bonus before starting shopping. Have a fair bit in online shopping baskets and some craft present plans in motion too.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 08:42

I'm due about a week's holiday pay when I leave this job. Plus I have our saved £160 on a Sainsbury’s gift card. I'm going to take a trip to one of the big Liverpool Sainsbury's to do some shopping, during the toy sale if it's on.

I am almost-done though.

It's sunny here now, but set to rain again, apparently. I've set the washer on delay so will put it out either at lunch time or later, depending on what happens! I've not got time unless I skive to hang it out before then anyway!

I made a fruit loaf with DS before he went to school, so that will finish at about 12, plus I always whisk the cordless Dyson round after the kids have gone and I stripped their beds. I think I've already achieved loads! 💪

Hello.
(Lurker here...)
I'm almost done for the 2 dc and dh.
Am struggling for ds1 (17) though. He loves parcels to open at Xmas but isn't what you'd call the typical 17 year old boy:)
No sweets as doesnt eat them, toiletries are a no no due to excema, no hobbies really, working hard on his a levels...argh.
He has a pretty new phone, ipad and laptop.
Sigh

NerosFiddle · 24/09/2020 09:05

I've been spending far too much by going on the bargain threads.
I bought dds first present in June. It was a cocomelon (crap children's tv show) doll.I preordered it on Amazon for about £25 and it came on Saturday. You now can't buy it there and there's ones going for over £50 on eBay.

I know that I will get the twitch though. Especially with birthdays coming up too.

I do have Christmas pjs left to buy too.

NerosFiddle · 24/09/2020 09:07

@yoikes if you ask on the bargain thread they might have some ideas. They're usually helpful with that kind of stuff.

pussycatinboots · 24/09/2020 09:13

Nero Mine wasn't too bad, but my armpit felt a bit tender 48hrs later just the one where the jab had been so I think it's working 😉🤣 my stonking bruise from walking into the door handle twice has taken my mind off it.
Wreck a chilled 19 in here. Rain stopped at half 6, beautifully sunny now.

🚨 Anyone who shops in Morrisons, the barriers are back, you have to queue to be directed to a till and you'll be limited to 3 of pasta, tinned stuff, bleach, loo rolls and cleaning stuff. The tills won't let the staff scan more than 3 of each category even if they're different brands. Just been there and the staff were being told off by the supervisor.

yoikes · 24/09/2020 09:20

nero I lurk there too :)

I've ordeted him an oodie off the back of that thread:)

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/09/2020 09:37

@yoikes my teen DS is a bit younger and guitar obsessed but does your son like music? Would he appreciate a band T-shirt or hoodie? DS was particularly happy with a yard long box of Oreos last year - it was a bugger to wrap, though. I got it from B&M and I haven't been in yet this year to see if they are doing them again. Would he like a lava lamp - they can be quite hypnotic and might be calming for his room if he's studying hard. Does he do Lego? If all else fails you could wrap a selection of gift cards for Costa/Starbucks/Greggs in little boxes so he can treat himself.

I'm almost all done for my DC too. I've got one gift each to get plus sweets and magazines for their stockings (and a yard of Oreos if they come out this year). I've got an idea for DH's present that I'll get unless he comes up with something. I'm knitting socks for my DDs that I haven't started yet but that's my winter project and it will only take a couple of weeks - I just need to clear a few other projects and commitments before I start. I can channel my own late mother who was always sewing up her Christmas knitting on Christmas Eve. We normally buy cinema passes for our nieces and nephews so I'll need to see if their parents want that to happen or would prefer different presents this year but I'll wait until after half term before bringing it up as they already think I'm too organised

That has just given me another idea @yoikes Would your DS like a cinema card? Different chains have deals that give you unlimited access to movies. I'm not sure how many films are coming out over the next few months but it's something to think about.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/09/2020 09:38

No idea what was going on there with the bolding 🤦🏻‍♀️

yoikes · 24/09/2020 09:47

Cinema card a good idea thank you

NerosFiddle · 24/09/2020 10:17

Woolly you've reminded me that I'll get the dc a yard of Jaffa cakes. So I'm not done yet Grin

NerosFiddle · 24/09/2020 10:21

Fluffy I reached my fruit and veg challenge. Woo boo!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 10:51

Yay! I'll reach mine on Tuesday next week!

Most of what we buy is fruit and veg.

Plus what you grow! Wow. My shop is mainly orange juice and biscuits I think 😂

Forgive me Countdowners for I have sinned. Is it classed as twitching if it's 3 months until Christmas? I bought DS a t-shirt that could not have been more 'him' if he had designed it himself. He does have a birthday in early January so I'm getting stuff for that too. 😬

BiddyPop · 24/09/2020 10:59

Neros well done on getting mostly finished, I don't think the yard of Jaffa cakes are out yet.

MrsMad that car does look MAD! Lucky you had checked on it.

Well done on getting out, and nice to get back before the rain Fluffy.

Welcome yoikes - the more the merrier here, as long as you are willing to go with the spirit of the season!! Xmas Grin

I didn;'t finish my last meeting until just before 10 last night (a Scouts Leaders thing - and there are admin problems in the Group rather than my Cubs that we needed to sort), so was a bit wired going to bed (and still awake when DH's train (snoring once asleep) rolled into the station that is our bed....[grr] ). Only woke at 9.15, and had a divisional meeting at 9.45!! But because it's remote, we are getting away with having a group chat in our section on WhatsApp on phones, and I am back working while listening. (And just catching up here now).

Today, other than work, I intend baking my Christmas cake (I threw an extra dollop of the German fruit liqueur into it 2 nights ago - it wasn't worth keeping the rest of the bottle) so I'll probably be on here freaking out later (in 21 years in my own house, this will be my 1st ever Christmas cake!!). EEK!

pussycatinboots · 24/09/2020 11:04

Biddy remember, the scrapings in the bowl are the best bit 😉😁 and don't forget to make a wish while you stir it.

FireflyGirl · 24/09/2020 14:56

I love cake mix! Am pretty ambivalent about cake, but if there's a bowl to be licked I'm there Grin

I've had a relatively productive day today. By my current standards, anyway. Deposited DS at school, went swimming, got my swanky new car, made lunch, and started sorting and inventorying the cupboards.

I started making a spreadsheet but it's a new (well, second hand, but new to us) laptop and we haven't got Office installed yet so I can't save it. Need DH to sort that after work, so I'll defer inventory until tomorrow.

Have been sorting the cupboards, though. Thanks to DM guilt-buying sweets and biscuits for DS during lockdown (not that she had anything to feel guilty for!!) we have quite a collection, especially as DS tends to ask for fruit, and I don't often think to offer him sweets or biscuits. Anyway, for now there's going to be a specific 'treat' section in the cupboard so we can see what there is and that way it should get eaten (most likely by DH or me!).

At the back, I also found a tin with some Stollen in from last Christmas Blush and despite being open it looked fine - no mould or anything. I was impressed!

Crazy weather here today - it was chilly and dull this morning, then absolutely heaved it down for a couple of hours, hailstones about an hour ago, and is currently glorious sunshine.

MarshmallowManiac · 24/09/2020 17:38

Evening all.
Not a great day, lashing from the Heavens all day. Just got home and picked up DS, back is killing me, looking forward to a hot bubbly bath. Smile

Wow well done Neros, so jealous, hoping to buy all my Christmas cards this weekend. [santa]

Yoikes my DS is 16 and into hoodies, anything to do with phones and technology and running stuff. Also he has loved cards from Greggs, Starbucks, Kaspa and Subway.

Always walking into the door handle Boots, there seems to be a permanent bruise on my arm.

What is the fruit & veg challenge Fluffy please?

Sometimes Simple toiletries are good for eczema I have it

Shortsighted here too Crazy, feel I'm falling apart, another bit seems to hurt every day. Grin

Need to sort my cupboards out too Firefly in readiness for onslaught of CV and of course the B word. Sad I love cake mix too, good luck with your new car.

Wish I had a present room Mrs only have a hide the present room Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/09/2020 17:58

As you all likr this sort of thing (and it IS Rudolph Day tomorrow Xmas Grin ) QVC are having a Christmas Shopping Day
Scented candles (not Yankee) is the Today Special Value

I read an news article that University students might be forced to stay in their Halls and not go home for Christmas . Some might be WayHey about it but I'd imagine Social Distancing will still be in order . So might be a sad time for many Xmas Sad

I have told my DC how Lucky they are that they still live at home for us to nag/spoil/look after/demand their company , verticle and dressed for dinner .

We had no internet or TV for an evening and played the Who Am I yes/no Game . I don't think they'd go for it if there was t'internet as an option .

MarshmallowManiac · 24/09/2020 18:02

Nooooo 70 my daughter is 4 1/2 hours away, where did you read that?

MarshmallowManiac · 24/09/2020 18:05

My DH is stuck on motorway on way home and there is loads of traffic. He said he saw a sign about Operation Stack, OMG it's just beginning Sad

WreckTangled · 24/09/2020 18:08

M20 is closed for miles Marshmallow. All the way to Leeds castle I think, from what I heard on the radio.

Food shopping tomorrow so need to meal plan. 😴
