New thread again. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the last one! 😂

Thanks Wreck that's where my DH had to come off, roll on 31st Dec I don't think

NerosFiddle · 24/09/2020 19:02

It's looking like our Santa visit is going to be cancelled. We've booked to go somewhere in Donegal and they've gone into a lockdown.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 19:26

Oh no, Neros. We're not doing very well with Christmas plans, are we? Xmas Sad

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 24/09/2020 19:27

I wonder if kew will be cancelled. Sad

pussycatinboots · 24/09/2020 19:44

Erm...just a thought, but if one of you knew someone with a santa outfit you could do a zoom/face time with santa Xmas Wink seeing as the real santa is self isolating with rudolf

CrazyBaubles · 24/09/2020 19:46

Sounds like you've been very productive Firefly

That sounds awful 70. If this had happened when I was at uni I think I would have risked the trouble and gone home anyway - I don't imagine 18/19 yo me would have taken Covid seriously.

Sorry about your Santa visit Neros

I've walked the dog, cleaned the kitchen and paired up some socks since finishing work. It was cold out and I'm debating popping the heating on for an hour as I'm so cold 🥶

pussycatinboots · 24/09/2020 19:48

Crazy I've got the heating on Xmas Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 19:49

I had it on earlier, Boots, as it was below 18° in the lounge!

NerosFiddle · 24/09/2020 19:57

Que sera sera. Let's hope they find a vaccine ASAP.

Heating was on here today too. It was bitter this morning. But I normally run cold anyway too.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/09/2020 20:15

We are still in summer mode. It's a new house so it's designed to hold heat. DH is nesh so I suspect he'll be attempting to close the bedroom window soon and there are vents above all the windows that are currently still open. We try to aim for 1st October at the earliest if possible for the big switch on and it looks like we should make it.

MarshmallowManiac · 24/09/2020 21:09

Heating on here too Crazy

WreckTangled · 24/09/2020 22:11

We haven't even had a frost yet so definitely no heating on here. Although with our new heating system I don't need to be so stingy Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 22:35

We rarely get a frost. But the lounge was below 18° and that's my limit for the heating going on or not (Victorian semi, not known for heat-retaining!).

FireflyGirl · 24/09/2020 22:36

We have the heating set to come on at 18 degrees, but it's not cold enough for it to kick in yet.

Although it's colder upstairs, actually, because I struggle to sleep at the moment unless it's Arctic, but the Hive is downstairs so it won't kick in.

I would have been gutted not to be able to spend Christmas at home while at Uni, although I lived at home anyway so wouldn't have been an issue. It was always going to be a quiet one for us this year, but we still won't be able to do half the things we usually do!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 22:37

For the dairy free amongst us, www.dairyfreechocolates.com has its Christmas stock online.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2020 22:38

I'd have loved an excuse to not go home. One year my parents' boiler broke and there was no hot water or heating for the whole period. I went back to uni early!

Mrsmadevans · 24/09/2020 23:05

I told my Dh we had better get a few things in and he was Hmm with me about it , however he soon tucked into my Brexit stash when we were in lockdown!
No heating here yet , shall we see who can withstand the call of the CH the longest Grin
MM it's also my dining room but we eat everything on our laps here , proper pigs we are Grin

Morning!

The days rattle along after you pass 100, don't they?!

I'm getting up for my exercise soon. The excitement! 😂

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 25/09/2020 06:52

Morning!

MrsMad we eat on laps here too, unless its a roast dinner. I actually prefer the table but DH tends to use it to work on in the week so it's always covered in schoolbooks, pens and random pieces of paper.

I didn't end up putting me heating on. I sat on the sofa in fleece pjs, thick socks and a blanket on my legs - DH sat next to me in boxers and T-shirt and said he didn't feel cold at all 🙄

Now I'm just putting off getting out of bed. I got up at 5:45 to put the dog out and he was whining for a wee (unusual) and it was bloody cold, like a Christmas winter morning Xmas Smile

pussycatinboots · 25/09/2020 06:57

Crazy you and your DH are the opposite way around to me and mine. I'm wandering around in long shorts and a t shirt and he's got 4 layers and a fleece on and is frozen Grin
I've put the heating on already for DH, and taken him a Brew in bed Halo
The cats have had their first breakfast of the day and are now asleep on my dining table. Hmm

WreckTangled · 25/09/2020 07:12

Our heating is set for 18 too. It's 20 this morning. Chilly outside.

BiddyPop · 25/09/2020 07:51

Morning all, Happy Rudy Day!
DH caved yesterday too (I didn’t put any pressure for a change!) and turned on heating a few hours a day. Manic day for both of us today and his snoring was awful last night so I’m feeling very meh 😑. Very early night needed. But there is a lovely smell in the kitchen still after last night’s baking - Pity I only read about this cake lasting well about for 8 weeks before it starts to dry out after it was in the oven (I’ll feed it whiskey to keep it moist I think).

pussycatinboots · 25/09/2020 08:05

Biddy that's a shame. Unless you use this one as a trial run and do another for Christmas 🤔 You won't be as anxious making the next, now you're an old hand at it!

NerosFiddle · 25/09/2020 08:11

Morning.

It's raining here but not cold.

Dd woke up at 1.30 crying that she was afraid of the dark. I think she actually woke up because it was so cold and she was in short pjs. She'll be wearing fluffy pjs tonight.
