Thanks @moonbabyandthebeast for thread title

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@liquiddiamonds do you have a reuse centre near you, ours had quite a few bikes a few weeks back if 2nd hand would be ok

Martinisarebetterdirty · 20/09/2020 16:40

@tentative3 Fortnum’s preserves are generally lovely, I always buy marmalade, strawberry jam and rose petal jelly. The one disappointing one I had was mulled wine jam - it just didn’t work for me on toast. Their mince pies are also amazing - but order for a closer to Christmas delivery date - I go in for my Christmas ones the week before as they don’t have a long shelf life (neither does some of the toffee if you are also looking at that, and I can also recommend their biscuits GrinBlush)

@Martinisarebetterdirty thank you for that beautifully enabling reply Grin I'm eyeing up christmas pudding preserve, orange curd and apple and cinnamon curd at the moment. We always used to have their christmas puddings when I was a kid but I've never tried their mince pies so I might just have to. I'd be ordering online probably, unless I can convince myself I need a trip to London in December...

Also, thank you to those who replied about the Phoenix magazines. Very rude of me not to have said thank you until now.

TenCornMaidens · 20/09/2020 17:04

For those with rich rude relatives, I suggest a photo-based gift (we wanted to make it personal because family is soo important, isn't it?) and a novelty tea towel.

TenCornMaidens · 20/09/2020 17:06

Also, for bird lovers

levparikian.com/index.php/shop/

Not all that bargainacious but so lovely!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2020 17:06

Bargainmax has managed the same £10 off £50 etc promotion online, so I'm sure it's not impossible.

ClaraLane · 20/09/2020 17:26

For game lovers I can really recommend the Bird/Cat/Dog/Bug Bingo games - we bought my birdwatching dad bird bingo for his birthday and he loves it. We’ve played it lots with him and my 3 year old and it’s not too hard for her at all plus the illustrations are lovely.

ClaraLane · 20/09/2020 17:36

Ooh another suggestion - there’s a lady called Annie who runs a shop called First Glass Creations on Facebook and Etsy and her work is gorgeous, perfect for hard to buy people: www.facebook.com/FirstGlassCreations/

wizzie021 · 20/09/2020 17:45

I’m always a bit of a lurker on these threads, thanks so much for all the tips so far! Has anyone seen the normal size (not the little version) Baby Born doll for a good price anywhere? DD has her heart set on it despite numerous other dolls!

Also I think it was mentioned above briefly but the Hatchimal Wow is £24.99 at Smyths at the moment if anyone is after one.

Connellschain · 20/09/2020 17:53

@wizzie021 This boy baby doll isn’t a Baby born but it’s an absolute bargain. Is soft bodied, comes with full outfit and booties and fits newborn baby clothes Shock

Lifelike Large Size Soft... [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0767D64D4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_shar&tag=mumsnetforu03-21e]]

UrbanMage · 20/09/2020 17:55

We want to get DD (aged 5) a 10ft trampoline this year. Anyone heard/know of any bargains?

Looked at Smyth's and they want to charge £20 delivery, and I can't envisage being able to go and get one in real life as I don't think I'd be able to go alone to get it!

liquiddiamonds · 20/09/2020 17:59

Thanks for all the bike suggestions. Stupidly hadn't even thought of second hand but I'll be trawling Marketplace now I think!

purplediva · 20/09/2020 18:15

@pasinphoebe

I hope this is allowed I’m know it’s not technically a bargain .. I read somewhere about a Christmas game, mean Santa or bad Santa or something Basically you wrap 6 presents for 6 people, they can be anything eg a scratchcard, lump of coal, a comedy tie.. whatever. You can wrap them beautifully or in newspaper .. then the game is sort of everyone gets to choose a start present and you roll a dice and the presents move eg if you roll a one everyone has to pass the present they have left, if you roll a three you swap with someone older than you .. That’s the gist does anyone know ?! I mean I guess I could make it up I just wondered if anyone knows it!!
we do this for our family get together between xmas - a present for everyone attending all brought by same person (each family group take turns to buy each year) all given out a random and we use the ‘christmas left/right game poem’ - just google to find the poem - our presents are only small items a mixture of nice, funny and def. don’t want ! Its more the laughter and fun playing the poem and seeing what you end up with!
Ewock · 20/09/2020 18:17

Not sure if it has been mentioned but Asda have 20% off wooden toys at the moment. Free delivery over £30 and free click and collect

UselessInDisguise · 20/09/2020 18:34

Someone mentioned the 20% off for your child's birthday at the entertainer, do they just email you two weeks before? It's two weeks Wednesday until my DS birthday but I'm itching to order tomorrow before stock goes!! Not sure how to handle it tbh 😂 I also ordered something click and collect last week and still haven't heard anything, I thought it was only two days to collect in store too...

UselessInDisguise · 20/09/2020 18:37

I'm actually wondering why u ordered something last week when I'm about to get 20% off the day I pick it up 🙄

UselessInDisguise · 20/09/2020 18:37

Why I even!!

IggyAce · 20/09/2020 18:41

Dibor with code organised gets you 25% off Christmas, only valid this evening.

rainingcats · 20/09/2020 18:42

@UselessInDisguise

Why I even!!
Could you pick up ... then return and rebuy? Perhaps be honest To the sales assistant and say you want to use the voucher
user1019273703 · 20/09/2020 18:45

@wizzie021 might be worth a look in TK max as I have often seen them in there along with baby annabell

MsMiaWallace · 20/09/2020 18:47

That is such a good shout about a second hand bike. It's DS's birthday end of November & he wants a bike. I've been stressing a bit about the price before Xmas. I can get a really good one for cheap doing this.

danuta22 · 20/09/2020 18:50

the online home shop has the weighted blankets from £16.99, in blush and grey, looks nice.

CactusForever · 20/09/2020 18:54

@liquiddiamonds there's a great bike buying checklist on the Cycle Sprog site.
