Could we have an advent calendar thread?

I thought it might be nice to have a thread to chat about advent calendars.

My dc are trying to pick between Lego Starwars

Lego Harry Potter

and pokemon

I’m thinking of getting dh either a marshmallow or a more sensible coffee advent calendar.

I really like this Mr Holmes mystery one but can’t think of anyone who’d appreciate it.

Oh 2Rebecca I wish you hadn’t posted that - I’m so tempted for me Grin

I buy one for me because if I don't no one else will. I also got one for my son who started a tea club at his uni when he was there

I’m a single parent with young kids so definitely no one else would buy me one!

I love pu erh etc. Very tempted.

I used my boots points to get the macmillan beauty Advent calender. It was half price and looks fab. Never had a Advent calender other than pictures or chocolate before

I phoned up Nespresso today to get the vertuo advent calendar. Normally 32 but I have a monthly subscription and am at expert level, so it cost me £28. There's biscottis and a mug in there as well as a daily coffee.

Was showing out of stock on website so I tweeted them and they said to call.

Has anyone sampled the lone wolf gins? BrewDog are doing a lone wolf 12 find of Christmas & I was wondering whether it’s worth getting for DH. Any other suggestions gratefully received!

Hello trying to decide between rituals and l’occitane classic advent calendar - familiar with l’occitane stuff but never used ritual before - but like the look of it more. Both gifts for family. Anyone got any thoughts as to which might be nicer??

Just ordered DH a SockShop advent calendar - £59.99 full price but there's a Groupon code for 20% off at the moment, making it £48 for 25 pairs of socks. £1.92 per pair! What a lot of socks you may exclaim! But he really needs to bin a lot of his threadbare socks... Hopefully this will encourage him!

Thanks, @2Rebecca. I’ve ordered it so hopefully it’ll be good Gin

Dd8 has the L.O.L advent (doll version) and a Lindt ball that DP created at a Lindt shop.

DS12 has a Lindt one also and another one I’m not quite sure of.

DP has gone completely over the top and got himself 4...

I don’t usually have one because I can never usually find one with chocolate I like all of.... but today I did... a Cadbury’s one with whole nut, milk and caramel....

I have one magnetic one on the side of my fridge. It's a Christmas tree with the numbers on and small magnetic matching disks to take off each day. I also have a Milky Bar one as I love white chocolate! Xmas Smile

Has anyone got an idea of a calendar for a 15yr old girl that isn't make up based? DS still likes the Lego ones but she's not into that either....

I got my DD the Harry Potter cosmetics calendar from Boots. £40 and might be reduced but it was so perfect for her I didn’t want to risk missing it. It’s children’s make up - colour changing lipstick, bath shimmer etc - but beautifully packaged in individual boxes with tissue paper item wrapping like an adult calendar.

My DDs got Harry Potter lego, lego friends & peppa pig last year. Didn’t rate the lego friends so going to change it to a makeup one for my makeup obsessed 6yo. I found one that apparently has lots of glitter in it. Sticking with Harry Potter lego and peppa pig for other DDs.

@78percentLindt the divine dark chocolate coins (in snazzy green and red foil) are widely available, inc. Ocado, if that helps?

Report
78percentLindt · 23/10/2020 22:28

Thanks Anyone, last time I looked, Ocado didn't come this way but they might now. I have just texted someone who did the Traidcraft catalogue as I discovered that they sell them. The ones I saw on Amazon were something like £9.99 for 2 packs!
