I thought it might be nice to have a thread to chat about advent calendars.

My dc are trying to pick between Lego Starwars

Lego Harry Potter

and pokemon

I’m thinking of getting dh either a marshmallow or a more sensible coffee advent calendar.

I really like this Mr Holmes mystery one but can’t think of anyone who’d appreciate it.

How have all the advent calendars performed? We got a paper one, which has been lovely.

I've ordered myself a Nespresso Vertuo one today. I only got my Nespresso machine recently (good offer on Amazon Prime day) and am using it lots as wfh during lockdown so thought it would be a good way to start each day of December

This will be the third year we've bought an Advent of Change calendar - it's lovely because buying it donates to 24 different charities and you see a new one you've helped every day. We get the standard one but I can see they do a children's one too on the website ( adventofchange.com ) - probably the best year for it, especially if you're stuck for new ideas or don't want the extra plastic etc.

i thought they were both excellent value - 25 mini bottles of wine for £50!

The Paperchase advent calendar is currently 30% off if anyone is interested. I was considering it for myself but I’m not entirely sure. I cannot decide on one. If I could find one that was nice bath stuff I’d be happy. I don’t really use beauty products. I’m bored of chocolate.

I have bought the Haribo calendars for the kids DD18 & DS15.
I usually do a December the first box with Christmas themed PJ's, socks, treas plus the Advent and when they were small a Christmas story book and colouring book & Christmas crafts ect. They are too old now but used to love doing the crafts!
I have the Look Fantastic Calendar - dont know whats in it as just ordered it! Very excited!
Last year i had the Debenhams one and I've kept the empty boxes so think I will refill it for DH as am struggling to find one for him.

I love Advent Calendars!!

Last year I made DP a sock advent calendar using paper bags that I decorated, pair of socks and either a couple of chocolate coins, a mini bag of haribo, or candy cane in each bag along with the socks. Went down really well but can't possibly follow it up this year, so will read the thread with interest!

Treated my comic book mad son to the zavvi collectible coin advent calendar which is right up his street even if it was painfully expensive even with codes.. also got dh the bonne maman calendar mentioned earlier so thank you for that! Just need something for me now... really want a treat but not into the beauty calendars as prefer to pick my own bits..

Anyone have any ideas for my 15 year old ds please? He has had Lego advent calendars the last few years but would like a change. Into photography, gaming and would possible like the remote control advent but has anyone had it and is it any good?

I have the glossy box advent calender (which is already sold out) I've already opened a few boxes as I really wanted some of the stuff now. I'm not patient at all.

I'm struggling with ideas for my teenage son. He doesn't like lego and had the funko marvel one last year.

Dp doesn't care about advent calenders, and never opens them so I don't bother with him

DD has Lego Friends, DS has Lego City (both old models from ebay but brand new. Cheaper than this year's calendars).

Bunnies and cat have a treat calendar each Grin

I just remembered we had this one two years ago, and it was lovely. I would very much recommend. They are sturdy cardboard, reusable each year, and build to a nice ornament.

We took turns for each day, and each had a Cadbury’s calendar too.

Thanks Anyone, last time I looked, Ocado didn't come this way but they might now. I have just texted someone who did the Traidcraft catalogue as I discovered that they sell them. The ones I saw on Amazon were something like £9.99 for 2 packs!
