Here we go!

I've got a busy day tomorrow, so I'm starting this now, ready for when it's needed.

I can't decide whether to continue with the dc swimming lessons or not once they resume. I love their teacher so much so I think that's affecting my decision. It's £64 a month so not cheap. They can both swim as many lengths as needed and have done life saving. They haven't learnt to dive and still struggle with butterfly but is that even necessary? They do enjoy their lessons but they could go swimming twice a month without a teacher for much less money...

pussycatinboots · 06/09/2020 12:49

Wreck if they fell into a pond/pool - would they survive?? You're not going to do butterfly to escape a shark Grin... I'd cancel (mainly because that's over £800 quid!!!) and have a few more days out in the school hols.

pussycatinboots · 06/09/2020 12:50

I meant over 800 quid a year. That's got to be enough for a holiday camping trip?

WreckTangled · 06/09/2020 12:56

I know it is a lot of money isn't it? They could definitely service falling into a pond or even falling off the side of a boat

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2020 13:01

Wreck, I'd stop in your shoes. We're changing teacher as the kids have learned in a small pool so can't do lengths yet. Once they're capable of that, and and done some life-saving, I'll stop.

Woolly, I've harvested parsnips, runner beans, green beans, sweetcorn (standard and baby), a handful of blackberries, 3 strawberries, rhubarb and raspberries. I might pick some straggly lettuce too!

No heavy work today. I'll save til next week when I'm not as stiff.

M&S said a few weeks for the duvet cover etc.

Bugger the duvet...I think there's a bigger queue for the cushion Grin although if when-- I buy the cushion, I might need the duvet to go with it...

That's a lengthy parsnip Shock

pussycatinboots · 06/09/2020 13:09

Hmm my crossing things out crossing things out was a bit funny...
I still NEED the cushion Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2020 13:27

I feel a rush on the cushion coming on! Xmas Grin

I accidentally damaged the parsnip with my fork as I underestimated its girth! My feet are size 8, so it and its friend are hefty beasts!

pussycatinboots · 06/09/2020 14:07

Parsnip crumble? Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2020 14:21

Elbows everyone out of the way for the cushion Grin

Now at the garden centre. Have picked up some weed membrane for the allotment and also some 'mums to put in our planter at the front of the house. Will out spring bulbs in then the 'mums on top so it doesn't look empty for months. Have gone for some nice autumnal colours.

pussycatinboots · 06/09/2020 14:43

Parsnip Roulade?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/09/2020 14:43

Parsnip trifle?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2020 14:46

most if you plant one scar side down in a pot, and cover it in about 1" of compost you will grow a tree

When my DC were little they loved gathering conkers , there's a park about 3 miles from us , huge trees . Trying to pick the right weekend when the conkers had fallen but not all been ransacked .
Going with a couple of bags to gather up the treasures Xmas Grin

Where DH works (when he's in the office) has some gorgeous mature trees so it was nice to pick up a few winfall cnkers in the skins .

We tried growing a plant over a jar of water with the conker suspended on a ring of thick card , just it's base in the water then you get the roots growing and plant them in compost .

Apparently if you put conkers in the corners of a room, it keeps spiders away .
No idea if this is true though ?

NerosFiddle · 06/09/2020 14:49

'Ello 'ello 'ello

I've barely sat down the last couple of days. I've been clearing out all of our rooms and found so many old pictures and momentos.

At the weekend I'm going to bring down my countdown solider from the attic. It only has up to a 99 day countdown otherwise I'd have it up all year round and rival fluffy 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2020 14:49

It feels like we're reading The Gruffalo with all of these parsnip ideas! 😂

I need to buy the cushion first as I saw it first. Ha! I shouldn't have told you lot. Xmas Wink

Good choices, Most.

My wildflower section is out of control! It looks messy, but the bees were loving it! I had to put a retaining fence up as it was hard to get onto my plot.

The pond weed has really taken now too, so the pond is really clear thanks to the oxygenation. Something plopped into it while I was pulling leaves out earlier. No clue what though! 😂

Sweet n sour Parnip?

I've not tried conkers in the house - but have heard about their spider repulsing powers - as the cats tend to be too inquisitive and would lick/eat them 🤦‍♀️🤣

NerosFiddle · 06/09/2020 14:54

70 an old wives tale is to put a conker in the 4 corners of the house and that'll keep the spiders out

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2020 14:56

My mum has conkers in the corner. I've never asked if they work! We just let the spindly ones stay. They're helpful for repelling eating the big ones!

Neros, your countdown may be more accurate than me. I'm waiting for @FireflyGirl to let us know it's her DH's birthday, so I know we're at 100! (Then I'm at 50 days!)

Have you been in your house long, Neros?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/09/2020 15:00

Spiders don't last long in our house due to the cats!

pussycatinboots · 06/09/2020 15:02

How can I get a cushion first
🤣🤣

Sporting spoiler:

The F1 has been red flagged after a crash, the marshals have just dropped the crashed car onto the barrier🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣
Hamilton is probably going to get a penalty, so will be last.

Oh, and a fielder has just bust his finger at the Cricket fielding a low catch which he didn't keep hold of

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2020 15:02

My FemaleCat ;ikes to walk round carrying things in her mouth - bottle lids , hairbands, elastic bands . We have to check the floors carefully to make sure she cannot find things and she tipped over a box of DD hair things to steal hairbands Xmas Shock

They would bat the conkers round the room to trip us up (then eat our bodies as we lay helpless )

Yesterday - Sainsbury Mince-Pie from the Bakery . Shortcrust pastry .
Delish Xmas Grin

And yes , I know it's September but that's me fine for a couple of months .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2020 15:03

most what shop is that ?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/09/2020 15:04
