Here we go!

I've got a busy day tomorrow, so I'm starting this now, ready for when it's needed.

I know DD's school was running at about 96% when they first went back. I don't think we've had figures since then though.

And I've not seen figures for DS' school (they're linked infant and junior on the same site, but separate schools).

I'm still annoyed we're lumped in with the Merseyside lockdown when our figures are less than half of Liverpool's and almost half of Wirral's!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 19/09/2020 08:40

We were at 96% when we returned too fluffy

Made great progress on the Grand Plan this morning. Had to abandon the Sitting Room last week due to toe. Had professional carpet cleaners in this week and they moved them for me and did underneath them :) DH did the skirting boards, doors and window frames this morning. Only thing left in here now is to collect the sofa skins from the depot and book the local handyman to repaint as DS has destroyed the paintwork with his greasy hands! Going for the wipe clean stuff I think this time Grin

I did the doors and skirting boards in the hallway and we will get the handyman to paint that too as it still has the cheap paint the builders used 3.5 years ago and it looks awful.

Once the painting is done both will look perfect :)

The builders came this week to do their final paint of the porch and garden gate so those look lovely and smart again. The last mow of the year will be done this weekend too and that will be the garden largely sorted.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2020 08:45

I need to do a mow too. The kids are now unsure about cross stitch hurrah! so I may have time later on to do it!

Maybe our attendance has plummeted too. 🤔🤔

NerosFiddle · 19/09/2020 08:51

Most how is your toe now?

Ds starts school on Tuesday but we have been warned that everything could shut down if there's a certain amount of cases. Don't know what number that is though.

Fluffy I'm all mixed up in my weeks.

I'm having a bacon sandwich as my Saturday morning treat.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 19/09/2020 09:18

Toe is back to normal size and has full movement so great progress. The cut is still quite bad and prone to small amounts of bleeding but it is getting better.

We are off to B&Q in a min to get paint testers. Then the depot for the sofa skins :)

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 19/09/2020 09:21

Just had an email about another case in DS' school, not in his year thankfully.

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/09/2020 10:44

Most that sounds rough at work. There's bigger fish to fry currently than the length of school skirts. Glad to see your toe is improving. Housework is dangerous!

Fluffy your cross stitch looks amazing. I'm making a Christmas Cwtch for Woolly Hugs and decided to do a fancy border. It's taking forever.

MrsMad glad to hear DD2's move went relatively smoothly - hope MrMad is feeling better today.

Biddy smart move to introduce smaller groups for your Cubs. I hope your session is going well.

MM I'll check that book out. Even better if there is a kindle edition.

sueelleker I'm off to Poundland as soon as I am released into the wild next weekend.

Crochet and tv (again) today. I did watch Die Hard last night which was fun.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2020 11:24

Well, Christmas has officially started if Die Hard has been watched sorry, not sorry, Crazy! in the Woolly household!

How are you feeling today, Woolly? Hopefully not too sore. Can you move it straight away?

So far today I've done my roast potatoes and put them in the freezer, a batch of sweet potato and squash soup with DH, and I've just made gingerbread shapes (no men!) with the kids! I can clean the kitchen knowing all the mucky stuff is now done. 😂

I'm in much less pain Fluffy I still don't have a great range of movement but I'm optimistic that the physio will sort that out.

Self isolating is going well 🤦🏻‍♀️ I woke in the early hours (not in pain but I think it's habit now). I tried to get back to sleep but couldn't, so I got up and went downstairs for a cup of camomile tea. While I was there I sorted out some yarn for my next project and started the yeast for today's bread. Went back to bed and slept until DH got up to supervise DS's karate class. While they were in one room I was in the kitchen making the bread, putting dinner in the slow cooker and having my breakfast. DD1 was still in bed and DD2 was at work.

I went back upstairs when karate finished. Sorted 2 baskets of clean laundry and filled one for the machine I'd forgotten how much I despise the weekend uniform turnaround DH put that in while I hibernated. Both DC went back to their rooms so I baked the bread and hung the laundry out. I've also done 2 loads of washing up and cleaned the kitchen surfaces.

I'm back upstairs now and planning on staying here.

Your potatoes and gingerbread shapes look ace.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2020 13:56

You've been very productive! I'm loving the isolating just being in a different room of the house!

I've now cleaned the kitchen / utility / dining room woodwork / hall woodwork / living room door, frame and skirting nearest the door. Time for my shower while DH goes to give blood. I'm in a few weeks as it's a longer wait between donations for me.

It's like a carefully choreographed ballet 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2020 14:29

There was a game on Whose Line is it Anyway?, many years ago called Standing, Sitting, Lying, played by 3 people (you can guess how it works by the name!). I'm imagining it's similar to that, in a way! 🤣

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 19/09/2020 15:16

Is DH joining in Woolly? Grin

DS woke up this morning with a lovely new, 'continuous' (by their assessment) cough, so we've cancelled everything for the next couple of days (cats' boosters at the vet's, my flu jab, my swimming session, my midwife appointment) and DH is taking him to get tested after tea tonight.

He always gets a croupy cough when he gets a cold, but I'm pretty sure school wouldn't let him in without a test. Hopefully we'll have the results on Monday (at which point I'll be shoving him through the gates! Grin)

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/09/2020 16:01

Firefly we are like those statues on town hall clocks - as one goes in one door the other one goes out 😂

Hope your DS is ok. I think most tests come back quickly so you may be lucky for Monday. Bummer that you had to cancel all your other appointments but good for you being proactive and cautious.

We are going to have to cancel DD2's (already postponed by 6 months) 21st birthday meal. Everybody but us is in lockdown and I'm not convinced it will be over by half term. Plus I don't think it's sensible to be travelling into a lockdown area never mind if it's allowed. I know travel to Leicester was only advised for work, health or caring purposes and I haven't heard if it's allowed again 🤷🏻‍♀️

MarshmallowManiac · 19/09/2020 17:30

Evening everyone.
Our school is running at a lower staff level which I feel is quite dangerous, as we work with vulnerable children and young adults. Every time I look at the cover list it gets longer. Visited the range today because my DD needed a craft knife, and its Christmas range is massive, I might or might not have bought some Christmas chocs Grin

Hope next week is easier for you Most

Amazing C/S Fluffy I wish I was as organised as you.

There is Woolly

MarshmallowManiac · 19/09/2020 20:56

Lovely Mrs it's great to see our DC build their life before our eyes isn't it, and it is wonderful to be a part of it. Smile

WreckTangled · 19/09/2020 21:57

Woolly sounds like a productive day I hope you're taking it easy

Mrs so pleased for your dd it's been a long wait it feels like!

Fire pleased you managed to book a test at least. Hope the results are quick.

Most so much stress for you!

We've had a quiet day. Dh worked 8-6. Dd was at a sleepover last night then went back there this afternoon and ds was at a neighbours most of the day so it's mainly just been me. Nothing exciting to report really.

Anyone use reusable sanitary towels? Thinking of getting some for dd as she isn't keen on normal towels but there's so many out there and a massive range in price. Some are ££££ which I can afford.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2020 22:48

Firefly, I hope you get DS' results soon. What a pain!

Woolly, I'm sorry about your DD's birthday. What a total pain. How is she feeling about it?

Mrs, I'm not a fan of the chair either! 😂

Wreck, you can apparently make them yourself. But have you thought about period pants instead?

I've just finished my cross stitch. I might have a framing night tomorrow! (I still need to frame the Christmas one from last year.)

I do wreck and they are so much better than disposables. I have multiple brands and without a doubt Imse Vimse are my favourite. However I agree that for a teenager period pants might be a simpler option :)

Amazing work on the cross stitch fluffy. Does it have any back stitching?

I was just looking at Merejka kits for once I have finished my Christmas one. After Christmas I need something that makes me think of summer to get through Jan/Feb so am thinking of one of the Venice ones.

Had a nice relaxing day yesterday, planning a walk in the sun today :) The local handyman is booked for next weekend.

WreckTangled · 20/09/2020 07:08

Fluffy I don't do making. I have yes but have you seen the price? You're looking at £80 just for a starter set.

Most she's only 10. I really can't afford the pants, not many go small enough and those that do are £££.

Ds has football today but I'll stay home with dd. She's got homework to do and I need to roast a chicken.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2020 07:09

Morning!

It's allotment day today. Apparently the bitey things are out in force, so I'll need lots of Smidge putting on!

My quads ache from running. The 'squats' from clearing / weeding will be kill or cure! 😂

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2020 07:12

Oh, I hadn't refreshed!

Most, there's a tiny bit to finish the window frames off, but that's it. Nothing too arduous.

£80 is a fair amount! Have you looked on Facebook Marketplace? I bet someone does them cheaper than the shops.
