Here we go!

I've got a busy day tomorrow, so I'm starting this now, ready for when it's needed.

Boots my close, personal friend, the minister for health, Stephen Donnelly 🤣.

Wreck there's a number to phone up if you don't get the results within 48 hours.

Fluffy I'm considering buying a steamer so that I don't have to iron.

WreckTangled · 16/09/2020 13:08

There's is neros but they're too busy to take any calls

WreckTangled · 16/09/2020 13:09

Puss not yet I'm waiting for the result. I'm going to though. The council haven't given the schools any additional guidance which is rubbish, yet typical.

It's hot here again today.

pussycatinboots · 16/09/2020 13:25

Overcast and warm here.
We've finished putting all of the spring bulbs in this morning and had a trim and tidy of some of the plants. DH now relaxing on a chair probably asleep 😉😂
Wreck it's just really crap isn't it? The sad thing is this will probably happen to every family at every school more than once through the autumn, winter and spring.
Did they send some work for her to do?

pussycatinboots · 16/09/2020 13:26

Nero I wouldn't be allowed a steamer. I'd end up taking skin off with it🤦🏻‍♀️🚑🩺🩹

WreckTangled · 16/09/2020 13:30

Yes we have some work but she's awful for doing work at home.

Apparently PHE advise against checking temps in school...

pussycatinboots · 16/09/2020 13:36

And I wonder why PHE do that?
Is she argumentative and a PITA? if so, she's fine and should go back tomorrow and explain why she hasn't done any of the work set for her and you deserve a Wine later.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2020 13:55

@WreckTangled

Yes we have some work but she's awful for doing work at home.

Apparently PHE advise against checking temps in school...

I'd be telling them that and saying that, even if they did, a strip thermometer isn't adequate. Your thermometer didn't show an elevated temp, and hasn't at any point since, so no!

Afternoon all,
Grin at trying to figure out our Minister for Social Distancing!! Grin Yup, twas amazing just how fast his test was done and reported....it's taking a couple of days at least for most people to get as far as testing, but at least the reporting is generally only another 24 hours or so (at least, around here that seems to be the case). But a local primary has 5th and 6th class staying at home due to positive cases, and it is rising in the area. So our level "2 and a bit" seems odd....(in the brand new plan they announced yesterday … Hmm ).

Oh dear Wreck, hopefully school takes them back soon.

MrsMad I was laughing between tears at your antics with MumBob, you deserve a medal for dealing with all that. Hopefully they are starting to consider the realities of their needs...and good luck to DD with getting the keys, sounds like she is well organised!

I know I'm missing loads of news and chat sorry, I can't keep up with you all. Its getting overcast here now, although it was nice once the morning mist had lifted. Work is bonkers busy, but I was too tired (and depressed after the 6 o'clock news) to do any crafting. Tonight is a small amount of mending and then some real sewing. And finishing clearing different piles of papers off the spare bed (it's my office too so old job, new job, Cubs, sailing, hockey and other work stuff each have a pile, and my work backpack, and a few other bits tossed there....but shouldn't take long to clear and then I can retreat in the middle of the night if DH decides he wants to imitate a train again...).

DH and DD are both back to drinking milk (they go through phases but not often both at the same time), so the 3l we bought after dinner on Monday evening was already gone before breakfast and I bought another 5l this morning, have 4l due tomorrow afternoon. But as I had to get it in Lidl, I noticed they had cleared their "seasonal" double shelf space, so I reckon we should have some Christmas goodies arriving by the weekend. And I am also going to be baking my Christmas cake - fruit has been soaking all week, I am so excited!!

Gotta go renew house insurance for some fun distraction, then back to more work...

CrazyBaubles · 16/09/2020 16:42

Oh dear Firefly. What has your DH said about the tyre?

Fuffy you could have used the kettle boiling time to check christmas food stocks etc - anything except ironing! 😂

Fingers crossed for DDs test result Wreck 🤞🏼

Biddy I don't understand the way the Covid plans are working here either.
Another country (RCT) is going into lockdown but not until tomorrow evening and the pubs and restaurants etc aren't closing so I don't see the point.

Am also 😡 to see that general public have to wait to find a test and to get results but politicians can get them in a few hours.

Headache has reduced to a dull thudding now. GP has told me to increase one of my BP medications until Friday (the stronger one), continue monitoring and she's going to call me then. I think she wants to get it under control first then we'll look at possibly changing my medication.

I've finished work now so I'm going to take a cool bath then going to have a relaxed evening. Despite the headache I'm in a good mood after a FaceTime call with my nephew (he answers DSis phone). His speech is coming on slowly and he spent a long time picking up toys, telling what they were and making the appropriate noise (car - brum, dat (cat) - wow (meow), no-saw (dinosaur) - ROAR). He's so cute, he cheers me up no end.

lachy · 16/09/2020 17:33

My Delia Christmas Cook Book arrived this morning Grin

DH isn't impressed...he's packed all but one (two now!) of my cook books.

Oh well ha ha Xmas Grin

FireflyGirl · 16/09/2020 19:37

He's pretty easy going about stuff like that, Crazy. More than I would be the other way around. It definitely confused the mechanic to see us back again today though Blush

DH had the day off for his birthday, and as he is still very anti going anywhere we just spent the day chilling at home together without DS wanting to talk 100mph at us about Robot Wars or spaceships. Well, until school kicked out, anyway.

DS is tired out by school already, though. He's started answering us back and being rude. I'm really uncomfortable at the moment - I can't get comfy sat, stood or laid - and I snapped at him this afternoon. It really shook him, as I'm usually quite good at keeping my temper with him (helped by the fact he's usually really well behaved and easy going - we never even had the terrible 2s. I've a feeling the universe is planning to make up for that with DC2). I hope we can stamp it out quickly, though, because I will have even less tolerance when I'm juggling two of them...

Mrsmadevans · 16/09/2020 23:16

Back on night shift and this one is lasting forever as I am at a patient's house and the chair is one of the most uncomfortable ones I have ever sat on. Me and my colleague are taking it in turns to moan about the situation. I had hiccups which lasted for 30 minutes which he found hilarious. On a plus side I am switching bank accounts and have chosen from 4 gifts to have a year long magazine subscription. I have chosen Good Housekeeping just for the Christmas edition 🤣

pussycatinboots · 17/09/2020 06:31

Morning
You need to start carrying a cushion why 😁
I bought some hair clippers on Monday, so I trimmed DH hair last night (they had to charge up first). I think it's turned out ok, and he's said I can do it again He was so against me buying them, but the fact they pay for themselves in less than 3 cuts it's a no-brainer.
Decided to go shopping early this morning, while it's fairly quiet. Have added Minstrels to the list as we've either got a mouse that can break into a fridge freezer or DH has eaten them🤔

WreckTangled · 17/09/2020 06:38

Oh I haven't switched bank accounts in a while I used to do it often. Might look into that although I quite like the rewards I get with RBS.

Still no results I'm not sure what to do tbh. I want to phone school and say it's ridiculous but what if they say they can't go back? I could phone my GP couldn't I? But having worked in a doctors surgery for a long time I'm very aware that they hate their time being wasted especially when it comes to pedantic schools.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/09/2020 06:54

Boots I do have a cushion in the office fondly termed my nightshift cushion but people like hiding it so I can never usually locate the bloody thing and I did not realise there would be no facilities (no idea where the toilet is, I will be hurtling home with my legs crossed). Wreck I often change accounts mainly for the financial incentive. I hope the app is better with this account mind.

ConstantlyCooking · 17/09/2020 07:26

99! Good morning all! I am trying to catch up with the last week - once I get a day behind the thread seems to develop a life of its own.
Although it's forecast to be warm and sunny later, I have just had a lovely crisp autumnal walk to the station.
The days will start flying by now.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/09/2020 08:00

Why, I also changed account (and do so often for the cash incentive!) yesterday and chose the same gift for the same reason (and the other choices were a bit crap!). Do you get the MSE email? That's what prompted me!

I went for a jog this morning. Yes, I know! I used to walk loads when I was in the office, but barely move now. I want my cardio health to improve, so have decided to go out first thing before work. It was only 25 minutes / 2.3 miles, but better than nothing. And I'll get faster / further in time.

It'll rocket along, you're right, Constantly.

Mrsmadevans · 17/09/2020 08:14

Morning everyone 😀
Slept well last night l was knackered from sorting things with/for Dd2 . She's just gone to work and is going to pop in to check on the house on the way in. She can't wait 😄
Off to do some shopping to Tesco, DH is fretting he has no cloudy lemonade 🙄

pussycatinboots · 17/09/2020 08:52

Mrs This is why I like the Aygo 😁😁 ...about 4 mins in.

why I hope you've got home for a pee.

Wreck You've two choices. Keep them off waiting for a result (possibly for the full 2 weeks) or send them in. Either way, make sure you complain in writing to the head with a copy of the Govt advice which mentions not taking temperatures

CrazyBaubles · 17/09/2020 09:22

Constantly if I miss a few days I skim through but just jump in. We talk lots so we understand 😂

Busy work day today, started at 7. Need to finish at 4 as there's a little tea party (literally mum, dad, me & sister) for my nephew today (his birthday is on Sunday). Will hopefully be home with enough time to finish crocheting the back of the grey cushion and am then looking at starting a Christmas cross stitch.

Headache has dulled right down now but hasn't fully gone away so I'm cautious about overdoing things. Dr made me promise not to exert myself in any way while we're getting my BP under control which means DDog is getting a slow meander rather than a march and DH needs to do more housework so I'm not tempted to exert myself by killing him in frustration. Honestly, he's usually so good, we're a team, I do more in the week, he does his share on the weekend but since the kids have gone back to school he's stopped doing anything and it makes me 😡

NoWordForFluffy · 17/09/2020 09:30

Twat him round the head with the vacuum cleaner, Crazy. Assuming that wouldn't exert you too much. I'd suggest a patio, but not in your condition! 😂

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 17/09/2020 09:30

Crazy don't get 🤬 calm thoughts. deep breath. it's just a bit of dust. 😁 and once you've moved it, there will be more 🤷🏻‍♀️
he can shift his arse at the weekend and do it then.
