NerosFiddle · 07/09/2020 22:19

Evening all.

I wrote out something hours ago and then got distracted by matching Christmas pyjamas and lost it. I was good though and didn't actually buy anything.
I haven't loved the Matalan/alder hay ones the last few years but I suppose it's for a good cause.

Mrsmadevans · 07/09/2020 23:49

Nero l bought 4 pairs today in the Matalan clearance in Newport and for £3 a pair l love them Grin
They are alright tbf, very stretchy they need to Grin

Morning. I've got a work appointment today in Brighton. Miles away. It's out of town so can't even do anything nice whilst I'm there! Long drive too.

Morning!

The Alder Hey pyjamas haven't been that nice the last couple of years. I popped in on release day last year and was really disappointed with them. Good cause though!

We're surrounded by local lockdowns / watch list towns here. As I barely leave the house I feel safe! 😂

Neros, where were you looking at pyjamas?

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 08/09/2020 08:05

Morning.

I was just looking on amazon. They were £2 each for the dc and £7 for adults. But there was no reviews and for that price you could probably spit through it.

Off out for breakfast with my friend this morning. Her dd is at school so it'll just be my 2 to harangue.

CrazyBaubles · 08/09/2020 08:07

Morning!

Not sure if this is of use to anyone but Aldi have their heated airers available online. I've just ordered one (have been after one for ages).

I didn't start crocheting woolly, I couldn't focus on it due to migraine but I found patterns and checked my stocks Xmas Smile

Well done on not spending Neros! Enjoy your breakfast.

How long a drive do you have Wreck?

I feel a bit rubbish today - my head feels full of pressure and I also have the delightful migraine hangover so dull headache, upset stomach, feel weak and shaky. Can't wait to get work over and done with tbh

WreckTangled · 08/09/2020 08:09

Oh no crazy hope you feel better. It's probably an hour and ten without traffic but I have to drive through the centre so more like an hour and a half.

NerosFiddle · 08/09/2020 08:54

Crazy I read a trick to help with headaches. To put an email ce pack on your neck and to put your feet in hot water. Apparently the extremities help it.

Wreck that's a long drive to sitting in traffic.

It's my birthday next month and Dh is asking what I'd like. I'm thinking I'd like a spa day or weekend sometime in the new year. All in the hope that there's a vaccine by then.

CrazyBaubles · 08/09/2020 10:49

That's one hell of a drive Wreck!

Neros I've been using that principle but using 2 pairs of socks to heat my feet (one cotton, one fleece) and 2 cold gel masks - one on my eyes, one on the back of my neck.

Could you mix the 2 ideas together for your birthday - a weekend away at a hotel which includes a spa, so you can do spa day, meal out, drinks etc?

I'm feeling rubbish but festive today and I think I can handle some noise in the background while I'm working now so going to look for a Christmas film to watch, ideally a made for tv one that's extra cheesy Xmas Smile

BiddyPop · 08/09/2020 10:54

Morning all,
I must start looking for our Christmas PJs. We haven't actually had a Christmas pattern to them for a few years now - just new PJs at Christmas. DD likes the flannel type ones that Primark do - and her last pair have literally fallen apart from so much wear! So I need to go there and have a look (if we don't get locked down this week - Dublin is having particularly high C19 infections at the moment). DH and DD are going to the DPs/DMIL on Friday night with a car load of things for their houses and to collect a trailer for the boat - back on Saturday. I need to visit DBro on Saturday afternoon (after Cubs) to drop things to him.

Was just up knocking the last of the moss stuck on the roof down towards the gutter (a bamboo cane out of DD's window worked really well as it's dry today) - i'll throw a few jugs of water down to move the small loose stuff later and climb a ladder to the gutter in the next few days with a bucket to clear it fully.

But that was good to get fresh air ahead of a long call with my boss - finally!! And he's already repeating himself 15 times ….save me!!!

WreckTangled · 08/09/2020 10:58

I see the sea!

We're all a bit in limbo for that sort of stuff, aren't we Nero's.

DS started back at school today. Skipped off without a backwards glance. Think I was more emotional this time than last year when he first started!

Some of the other mums in the group chat were saying how awful it was for them, as their kids were crying and really didn't want to go. DS beat the teacher in!!

I've been for a swim, and am now trying to decide what to do with the next 4.5 hours without my little shadow!

NerosFiddle · 08/09/2020 11:15

Back from breakfast now. I had poached eggs on toast and dc had sausage, egg and toast. Under 5s eat free so it was cheap.

They are saying that there will be a vaccine by the new year but I trust Matt Hancock as far as I can throw him. But I'll still look for a break next year. If it can be arranged me and a few girls can go to center parcs and do the spa and stay.

Biddy are you thinking another Dublin lockdown? We're as bad here, but it's thankfully mostly in the east around Belfast and Antrim.

Crazy i practically gave a hot water bottle attached to me for most of the month.

Wreck lovely view.

Fire it's good that he's not scared.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 08/09/2020 11:17

Great view there Wreck.

mosscarpet · 08/09/2020 12:32

I am rubbish at keeping up with this thread - sorry! But popping on to announce my Chirtsmas Cake is in the oven!!
DC all back to school yesterday and I have 4 blissful days of annual leave. Grin

pussycatinboots · 08/09/2020 12:56

Afternoon Wink
Been shopping to Morrisons this morning, all of the barriers and one way signs have gone. The marshalling you to a queue has ended too. Lucky it was quiet - I wouldn't like to fight my way around there at a weekend or a festive period in about 100 days time

Wreck last time we were down that way, we walked DH made me from the railway station to the racecourse. I didn't get a chance to look in a single shop! It was about 30 degrees, my feet leaked once we got there and I took my trainers and socks off Grin Then I found out about the free shuttle bus 🤦‍♀️ I haven't let him forget that!

Firefly I hope you're both having a quiet day and Crazy I hope you're feeling better now. Nero I might have to do sausage and egg for breakfast tomorrow now. Xmas Grin

Biddy Brew I'd hate that. He'd make my eye twitch and I'd feel the need to stab something with a pen Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 08/09/2020 13:13

Is the repeating boss the same one who 'has a plan' he hasn't told you yet?
Also, I'm wondering what the neighbours think when they see you hanging out of the window with a cane 😂

Firefly DH has said the parents have been fretting and calling the school because they're convinced their dc aren't going to cope with going back but the children are actually fine.

Neros I think your trust of Matt Hancock is on a parr with mine and most of the country

Thank you puss. I am feeling loads better, just weak. Am also a bit Blush as I somehow messed up changing my password so now have to call IT, who I know are overrun as Im involved in outsourcing some things so they don't frown, to get them to fix it!

Am also starving (and dreaming of a sausage and egg sandwich but I don't have any sausages) so need to go and sort some lunch out.

WreckTangled · 08/09/2020 14:17

Fire I'm pleased ds went in happily nothing worse than them being upset.

Puss you didn't?? The place I went to is just before the race course did you walk up the massive hill?! I would be sick Grin

I'm home and eating for the first time today. Don't feel that hungry though. Accidentally went into tk maxx and bought a new coat Blush plus a simple x little mix face wash for dd's stocking and Ronaldo boxers for ds' stocking.

They had a handful of Christmas smellies out.

pussycatinboots · 08/09/2020 14:31

Wreck yes I did!!! I walked up that massive hill!
I bought 3 bottles of water when we got there, drank one, tipped one over my feet and the third between my boobs to cool off Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 08/09/2020 14:37

I made the mistake of walking that hill on my induction day, from the station like you did. I got a taxi the next time I had to go there Grin

pussycatinboots · 08/09/2020 14:45

Well, yes. Smile If we went again we'd park at the track tbh. We were staying at a premier inn at Fontwell, so DH thought the train might make it a nice day out.🥵

BiddyPop · 08/09/2020 14:48

I've done my twitching - yes it's the same boss, we got halfway through and he had to take another call, so we are due back at 2.30 (which has just turned into 3pm...…) Just trying to remind myself of the Girl Guide law, specifically "A Guide smiles and sings under all difficulties"....Wink

Neros yes, Dublin seems to be quite bad at the moment so I think the Govt may need to do what they did to Kildare, etc (and possibly for Limerick as well) - we're not really going out that much anyway, but it would mean Cubs and DD's hockey stopping again (but I think they would want schools to stay open).

Ah Crazy the neighbours are all used to me being a little bit crazy... Grin besides, no one ever seems to look up at the roofs of the houses.

That view is fab Wreck, and you walked UP that hill Puss?! Fair play to you.

I hope you enjoyed your quiet time Firefly and that DS comes skipping out as happy.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/09/2020 14:53

moss you are ahead of me. I put my fruit in to soak yesterday and I'll bake in a couple of weeks. I've asked DH for a hand mixer for an anniversary present so I'll wait until I have that to mix everything up.

Lovely to hear your DS skipped happily into school Firefly.

Hope you're feeling better Crazy. Does anything in particular trigger your migraine?

I saw the consultant again today and he wants to do another procedure at the end of next week. I'm in danger of the tendons forming scar tissue so he wants to sort it out quickly. So I've got another lovely Covid test to look forward to.
