Thanks @sorryiasked for thread title

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@Isadora2007 I just bought the poshest wrapping paper I’ll probably ever buy (reversible!) and matching ribbon from Cox and Cox.
If you use the £20 off from the referral thread then it’s actually a pretty good price.

Someaddedsugar · 07/09/2020 19:41

@luckiestgirl oooh which one did you go for? I got the stars one and the vintage cars one along with the you are hard to buy for ribbon but always curious to see what other people go for!

luckiestgirl · 07/09/2020 19:52

@Someaddedsugar I got the reversible gold on one side and navy with small gold stars on the other, with gold ribbon. I loved that ‘you are hard to buy for’ ribbon

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 07/09/2020 19:55

Thinking out loud here, I wonder what the copy Oodies are like on amazon. We live in a chilly house but it’s a lot of money for a cosy jumper

Bluewavescrashing · 07/09/2020 20:00

I have a copy Oodie from Amazon (eBay also sell them) and it's fabulous. Really thick, warm, long and cosy. Super soft.

NerosFiddle · 07/09/2020 20:03

The works has 10 children's Christmas books for £10.

WisestIsShe · 07/09/2020 20:14

@UselessInDisguise I just got the Good Food magazine 5 issues for £5 if you fancy a change. The December issue is always lovely. here

TheSeedsOfADream · 07/09/2020 20:20

Where is that offer please? I'd love to buy it for me but can only find £79 for 12 with 20% off (clicking your link)

Trumpton · 07/09/2020 20:23

@UselessInDisguise
I can’t find that Good Housekeeping offer. Can you link please. Thank you

CactusForever · 07/09/2020 20:24

Thanks @RubySlippers77 I just ordered two sets. I'm happy with 50% off but the delivery was a bit steep at £4.99.

I bought them before I saw your message, @Dreamingofwalden, argh! Will keep a lookout for Playmags too!

Luxplus · 07/09/2020 20:30

60% discount on sale items from Småfolk at www.smafolk.dk

Dreamingofwalden · 07/09/2020 20:35

@CactusForever I would just stick to the Magformers as they don’t work with the bigger tiles so it’s even more annoying as you end up with lots of different bits. Grin

UselessInDisguise · 07/09/2020 20:38

The magazine subscription is here www.hearstmagazines.co.uk/jf?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiNPRsuTX6wIVDO7tCh3irgyQEAAYASAAEgI6xfD_BwE however I've noticed online there's some bad reviews stating its quite difficult to cancel the renewal so im rather dubious. It's £3 for 3 magazines.

UselessInDisguise · 07/09/2020 20:39

Oh, sorry, link fail!

Riverhouse · 07/09/2020 20:43

You can read Good Housekeeping for free if you pay for Kindle monthly. Not the same as a paper copy I know but maybe good for a look through before you pay for it.

Riverhouse · 07/09/2020 20:44

Couldn't remember it's name, it's Kindle Unlimited

SingaporeSlinky · 07/09/2020 20:53

Sorry if it’s been asked, but has anyone heard if the normal yearly sales will be happening this year? Like the Argos 3 for 2, Smyths toys, supermarket half price sale etc.

Trumpton · 07/09/2020 20:58

@UselessInDisguise
Still giving me 6 issues for £18.50 . Ah well !

IggyAce · 07/09/2020 21:04

@SingaporeSlinky I believe from previous posts that Smyths aren’t running their usual promotion and I don’t think Sainsbury’s are doing their usual toy sale.

SingaporeSlinky · 07/09/2020 21:07

Oh no, really Iggy 😩

runningpink · 07/09/2020 21:20

Sainsburys might be doing the toy sale. I will post as soon as my relative confirms either way.

thelegohooverer · 07/09/2020 21:22

I’d suggest signing up for Smyths mailing list. Last year they were trying to spread out the bargains a bit more to avoid the mad scenes (I think there were a couple of violent episodes the year before iirc). I’d say there will probably be a run of offers. The 20% sale is as much to clear space on the shelves for the new Christmas stock. I’m hopeful that there might be a few decent bargains to be had,

SingaporeSlinky · 07/09/2020 21:23

Thanks running

SingaporeSlinky · 07/09/2020 21:26

thelegohooverer thanks, I guess they want to avoid overcrowding more than ever this year!

Elpheba · 07/09/2020 21:27

Can I throw connetix tiles into the ring for magnet play? We had Magformers first but they didn’t get huge amounts of use as structures felt quite wobbly. We’ve since sold all our Magformers to be able to buy connetix. They’re so strong and easy to build with. Used absolutely every day in our house- not cheap but such a great open ended toy.
