Thanks @sorryiasked for thread title

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@Yeknom and @ClaraLane Thank you both Smile will look out for the Aldi event.

@17caterpillars1mouse Thank you for the Melissa and Doug recommendation. It has excellent reviews and really good to know that your children play with it lots. My daughter keeps asking for one but I was worried she’d soon lose interest.

@wherethewavesarehighest
Contigo West Loop!
I bought 3 different people this last year as I love it so much. I drop mine all the time Blush and it's survived without leaking. Really good at retaining heat too.
It's about £20 on Amazon but I kept an eye out and think I got two for £20 last year. Possibly from Groupon. might be worth waiting and seeing if prices drop anywhere if you don't have to get it too soon.

@STARE2016
Great minds and all that Grin

My 86 yr old mother has actually come up with something she wants for her birthday soon but I’m struggling to find it so hoping you guys might have some ideas or recommendations.

She wants a compact mirror for her handbag - she has a nice very neat lightweight one from an old Clinique gift with purchase that has a normal mirror on one side, and a magnifying one on the other,it’s square and has two sides so you can either hold the side you’re not using S a handle or if you’re at a table or have a surface you can bend it back on itself and acts as a stand. When done, just fold it together to shut it safely.

She has seen one a friend of hers has, very similar but with a light that comes on when you open it so you can see what you’re doing much better and it’s still pretty light.

I’ve managed to find similar - but always missing something so no light or heavy and clunky or no magnifying mirror etc...

Just wondering if anyone has seen the holy grail of light-up, lightweight, 2 mirror, compact mirrors please? Cheers!

buckeejit · 04/09/2020 15:55

@wibdib there's a few on amazon that look to fit the bill

@sorryiasked that was me! Thank you, will take a look!

bookish83 · 04/09/2020 16:38

@silky86

Teas and coffees are always a great idea eg the starbucks individual sachets. Asda do a good selection! Or posh cordials for a treat on their breaks

Or individual bags/bars eg thorntons so all staff can pick their own out of a selection!

Or £5 individual gift vouchers for coffee places so they can pick their own drinks up as a treat on the way

Or a bigger gift voucher say for m&s so they could order a treat lunch

Cash/cheque for the ward so that they can buy other patient treats like nail varnish, magazines, contribute to things like a ward ipad

Cash for their xmas do (tho they may not get one this year 😢)

Individual thank yous if there are any staff in particular you think were great

Donation to the ward/dementia society in your mums name.

Xx

@wherethewavesarehighest - another Contigo travel mug lover here. You can get them in Tesco - £12-£15 depending on the size. They keep drinks hot for ages and don't leak!
Mine has lasted over 2 years already - been dropped and kicked across car parks on several occasions!

Shhhsleeping · 04/09/2020 17:22

Thanks for the beer 52 link

CottonHeadedNinnyMug · 04/09/2020 17:22

@WineandDine Curious if the Neom discount worked on the wellbeing pod or not, it implies not in the blurb but its on my Christmas list and will flag it up to DH if so! X

Fingermoose · 04/09/2020 17:30

@wherethewavesarehighest

Thank you for the Minecraft t shirt, my wee one will be over the moon with minecraft and sequins!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent but bargainous travel mug? Ideally no more than £20. It's for dp and his mugs usually end up getting lost at work, though last time he managed to run it over with his van Hmm

I bought a contigo Byron travel mug for DH which has survived in the van. He loves it. I got it from Tesco Online with my food delivery for £12 which I thought was a bargain, at the time I hadn’t seen it cheaper than £20. Then I saw one a few weeks later in Asda for £9. It was pink though. I snapped it up for myself. Works great when I’m stuck on zoom calls all day!
