Thank you @nickdrakeslovechild for thread title.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

2am shopping @EvilHerbivore but that track looks fab! Have ordered for my nephew - thanks for the link.

EvilHerbivore · 28/08/2020 02:20

No problem! Glad someone else is up playing Santa too 😁

Givealittlebit · 28/08/2020 02:48

Wow I ended up missing most of the second thread!
With the Disney book advent calendar an alternative is a Christmas book DIY one. We have 24 books (charity shops) that start winter and get more and more Christmassy. Each get wrapped up/put in a Christmassy box at night and he gets one to unwrap for a bedtime story each night

DaisyChops · 28/08/2020 04:25

Can't sleep either! I was sat her thinking who would want 24 DIY books but I see what you mean now, that's a great idea!
I got the Disney book advent calendar last year. It looks great. It's really big and has the wow factor but if I'm totally honest we've not read all the books as they are very little print and kids lost interest. I'll try again this year.
Also bought fancy advent calendars, paw patrol, lego. Hatchimals. Quite expensive for multiple kids and they really just wanted a chocolate one so I ended up buying a chocolate one aswell, house was full of advent calendars and all the plastic shit from them, so as much as I am tempted by the fab advent calendars, I am sitting on my hands and getting them a chocolate one this year and a Christmas book each instead!

I can’t remember who was looking for potions ideas, but poundtoy have a selection of things that might be suitable. I’ve never tried any of them out, but they have things called Gellibaff, oozebaff, cracklebaff, as well as fake snow and slime. I think you just add the powder to water. I’m having the slime shivers just typing this post. Hate the thoughts of all those “sensory” things. But it might be useful to someone Xmas Smile

20% off bareminerals.co.uk with code FF20

tiddledpink · 28/08/2020 06:48

The Entertainer currently has £5 off £25 spend both instore and online using code 5OFF25.

not quite the normal offering but good for any small bits that people need to pick up 👍

Givealittlebit · 28/08/2020 07:07

@DaisyChops biggest perk is we just reuse the books each year, as they spend the rest of the year in the loft! 😂 this will be their third year of use

Someaddedsugar · 28/08/2020 07:08

Another thank you for the dinosaur track! That was on my list for DS and hadn't noticed the promotion. Although I'll have to give it to someone else to give to him as DP appears to have noticed the ever-growing present pile 😂

Tigger83 · 28/08/2020 07:13

20% off Molton Brown and up to
40% off gift sets

InDreamland · 28/08/2020 07:13

Molton Brown has 20% off for 4 days and up to 40% off gift sets (most are 20% but a few nice ones at 40% like the hand care gift set was £25 down to £15). No code needed, all reduced on their website.

AlaskanSnow · 28/08/2020 07:37

Just posting to say thank you to all that share on here.
I have 29 people to buy for and finding these threads last year really saved my bacon.

I'm quite keen to get going now!

IggyAce · 28/08/2020 08:00

Hophop26 · 28/08/2020 08:06

@DaisyChops this is exactly us with advent calendars too, was a real lesson that actually simple can be a really good option. I’ve tried a really lovely white company fabric one that you fill the little pockets, the toy types and books only to end up with the £1 chocolate calendars anyway A house full of advent stuff and the expensive offering being so unnecessary.

I’m tempted to do the traditional cardboard advent calendars this year (Baker Ross have ones kids can colour and make) and add to the nativity set each day

whoknows1230 · 28/08/2020 08:06

@Methenyouplus4 I’ve been looking at these lasagne dishes. They’re glass but come with a plastic lid so you can freeze the contents then just take off the lid before putting in the oven

recklessgran · 28/08/2020 08:18

£2.50 off diffusers using code diffuser250 and free delivery on orders over £30 at Hoods Honey. Offer valid from tomorrow to midnight Monday. I can vouch for the fabulous quality of their stuff and I've used their free gift service during lockdown to send gifts to people that need a bit of propping up. [I'm not anything to do with them but have been trying to support small businesses since Covid hit.]
On another matter, please can anyone recommend a dashcam for DGS no particular budget but not too ouchy? I have absolutely no clue and prices vary wildly from my initial research. Thanks.

DaisyChops · 28/08/2020 08:27

@recklessgran dashcam is a great idea but can I mention fitting, I got one for Christmas and when I took it to get fitted it was £50! Couldn't afford it so I waited ages to get it fitted and the price reduced luckily, think it went to £25 or £35. I notice that Halfords now do fitting vouchers to buy so might be an idea for someone else to give that?

MrsJamTart · 28/08/2020 08:30

We fitted our dash cam ourselves
We were bought one for Christmas from amazon, no problems but not sure exactly which one it is.

Spam88 · 28/08/2020 08:36

We've had a couple of dashcams from amazon for around £30. It's a few years back now so couldn't tell you which ones but as long as reviews are good you're probably safe. Not sure what fitting includes but ours just plug in to the lighter and the camera suctions on to the windscreen.

recklessgran · 28/08/2020 08:36

@Daisychops thank you for that very useful heads up!. I'm a serious technophobe and had no idea about needing fitting. I though it was like a satnav. Dummy. What if DGS changed his car? I assume it could be "unfitted"? Sorry, I'm really thick when it comes to tech stuff.

Smileatthesmallthings · 28/08/2020 08:45

The Naked Marshmallow Company have released their Advent Calendars (2options) for preorder. Think someone was asking about them a while ago.

Cherryrainbow · 28/08/2020 10:02

For any sonic mad fans this was only 16.99 in b&m. Just checked online now and its 24.99 on amazon. My son will love having a playset for his figures x
