Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@naturalblondyeahright was it something like Dawson's? The department store, I mean? I seem to remember P&P was high but the bargains were amazing!

JacktomyDaniel · 18/08/2020 22:05

Ordered 3 smiggle orders just over a week ago. 2 arrived yesterday to two separate houses (Xmas stuff to hide at mums) and both boxes were bashed beyond recognition. No packing materials inside so just stuff rolling about. One pen clip was snapped and the books were crushed.
The other order was for 2 x filled hardtop pencil cases reduced to £12. After 6 days they refunded because they were OOS and no suitable replacement. Emailed to complain as it took nearly a week to tell us this. There are almost identical sets online now but full price and they are refusing to replace with them. Not impressed at all.

ClaraLane · 18/08/2020 22:07

@overweightcat

Ooooh can I join? I'm hoping to start early this year so I'm not panicking later on as I usually do.

Keeping an eye out for nice electric toothbrushes for my DM and DF as I think they will really like them.
Love the ted baker set @EvilHerbivore I think I might get it for SIL.

Out of curiosity what would you get a very young looking 70 yo lady who has tonnes of jewellery, makeup she never uses some still in original packaging and a large spare bedroom full of clothes?
She's a brilliant cook and baker and very keen gardener.

A Stackers jewellery box? I love mine!
NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 18/08/2020 22:15

@friskybivalves not Dawson’s, just had a look at their website to check. Yes to the bargains but high postage though. It might come to me. Thanks though

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 18/08/2020 22:37

I'm not sure if this will be any good to anyone but I have this code NEWAPTC for a new cranberry moisturiser at Dr botanical should be £19 but with the code it will be £7. 96 with free delivery this week.

sorryiasked · 18/08/2020 22:46

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight Jarrolds?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 18/08/2020 22:51

@sorryiasked yes! That’s it, well done. I was after something I’d seen before.

Ehunt1 · 18/08/2020 23:46

@JacktomyDaniel I had a similar problem with Smiggle recently. Their customer service is shocking.. no one answers the phone and takes them days to reply to an email. I eventually got a refund for my faulty item

We live in Norwich where Jarrolds is based - their food hall is amazing!

Thank you for saying John Lewis code can be used on games, 2 orders completed and a game each for the girls Christmas eve box! No llamas for llama mad dd2 and linkee for dd1. Now if I can convince dh to let me use his email address might find another game! (Code is MYHOME - takes £10 off no min spend on home/garden. Make sure signed into your account and signed up for the John Lewis card)

My contribution - tkmaxx is great for make up gifts, loads of heavily reduced eye shadow palettes, individual make up and brushes/tools. I always buy my mascara from there for around £3/4 each always brands ive heard of and are much more in boots etc.

Thank you for hmv tip, popped in and got dd1 a funko pint size heroes display cabinet reduced to £5.99 will go perfectly with the advent calender on her birthday. Plus Downton Abbey cluedo for my mum £9.99 and a feisty pets sloth for 99p.

The entertainer had some whos your llama teddies reduced to £2 each - I got my llama mad daughter one dressed as a baby, a banana and a peacock. They are the same colour as her favourite toy ever, the peacocks willy shaped llama from a few years ago 😂

Bluewavescrashing · 19/08/2020 05:50

Just went through DH John Lewis account to use the MYHOME offer again for £10 off a 3 pack of thirsty gardener craft beers. £12.99 so only cost £2.99.

Now I'm looking for a gardening type gift for a mid 30s male who has just got into veg growing to go with it. But not a book. If anyone sees a bargain please let me know!

Bluewavescrashing · 19/08/2020 06:00

The JL sipsmith gin set is now sold out online. Good work, troops! 🎅

LikeSilentRaindrops · 19/08/2020 06:23

Littlewoods / Very have a bit of sale on for toys - you have to do some judicious filtering, but there are some decent looking bargains. Some Fireman Sam stuff reduced, Little Tikes coupes have got £20 off and I’ve got £8 off a horrendous unicorn thing for unicorn obsessed DD 🦄 Grin

IamChipmunk · 19/08/2020 06:59

Im Cross with Very. I ordered a reduced playmobil set which didnt arrive. Tracker said with courier. Rang Very to chase and they said they would register it lost but couldn't reorder for me, I would have to do it.
Had to quibble over also getting my postage back. Finally persuaded them. Went on to order and its out of stock. I suspect she knew that but didnt tell me.
Still waiting for refund and deciding whether to buy same set on Amazon at a less bargainous price.

Put me off ordering some other bits I had in my basket.
Also nothing seems to come up for click and collect option. Only paying postage.

Methenyouplus4 · 19/08/2020 08:00

Looking for guitar for 8 year old if anyone sees any.

The Entertainer sale has some good reductions, got a Nerf laser game (good reviews) for £15 from £45 (no bullets required so very appealing).

Also a funny identity the smell type game for £3, mixed reviews but thought it would be a laugh for crimbo day for all ages.

DelurkingAJ · 19/08/2020 08:17

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight

Boswells had some really good sale offers three years ago?

RaggieDolls · 19/08/2020 08:27

Thank you to whoever recommended Cath Kidston on the last thread. I got 4 x cosmetic bags down from £20 to £8.

Two are for DDs of a friend I always buy for. I will fill one with nail varnish and a gift voucher for my niece and the final one is for DD's stocking.

UselessInDisguise · 19/08/2020 08:28

Just wanted to share this saving for hair clippers at boots. DH wanted some since lockdown made him realise he could DIY! £70 down to £35 plus I added bonus points and free del.

hair clippers

princessbear80 · 19/08/2020 08:33

This Chad Valley Race Track is on clearance at Argos. Can thoroughly recommend this, DS age 4 has played with it loads. We bought it on sale at £20 earlier in the year, it’s now £16.99 so even better value for money. And it’s a big toy/box, looks much more than it is. It’s similar to scalectrix.

nc600 · 19/08/2020 08:38

My photo coasters have come. Really good quality, I'll be buying more!

AnnaMariaDreams · 19/08/2020 08:40

Got Lego dots sets 2 for £15 at Argos, normally £13 each.
Also Lidl had scratch and draw books for £2.99.
Nearly finished for the girls I have to buy for.

PinkDaydreams · 19/08/2020 08:51

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts can I ask which category you got the games from please on John Lewis ? I went through the toys category but can’t get the discount to work, I’ve tried 3 different games but no luck :(

PinkDaydreams · 19/08/2020 08:51

I should have said, I am a John Lewis card member Grin

ZIGGY911 · 19/08/2020 09:02

I know I’ve seen it somewhere but can’t find. Where are the coasters from please and how much are they?
