Think it would be fantastic with a timer Sandy, but think they would be killing each other! Grin

The new Top Gun film is released on the 23rd so go and see that.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2020 17:14

My DD isn't a fan of cooking but DS will rustle up a Chocolate Crispie Cake wreath
Round tin, line with clingfilm , put a glass in the middle .
Put some Smaries or M&Ms in the bottom , load in the chocolate crispy mix , allow to set , take out the glass , the film, turn Smartie side up. Admire . Dig in Xmas Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 21/08/2020 18:02

Didn't realise that Sally, think DS would like that. Smile

That sounds fabulous 70, he does like baking with DD2 stirring the mixture etc think he (and DDs) would like that especially with the M&Ms Grin

Ooh, like the chocolate wreath idea 70. Think we'll have to make one of those this year Grin. Last year we had a bake off competition in our house with gingerbread. Team DCs made an amazing gingerbread wreath, was fantastic. Team parents made a dodgy santa scene with reindeer that looked more like flying cows with sticks coming out of their heads Blush

We normally make a wreath from individually wrapped chocs like Celebrations/Quality Street and a florists wreath ring. Tie the chocolates onto the inner and outer rings with short bits of raffia. Squeeze as many on as possible to make a nice fat, chocolaty wreath then enjoy ripping them off to eat when you can't hold out any longer!

We play the dice game with 2 packs of cards. One pack dealt out between everyone, one person is the caller with the other pack. As they read the cards one by one the person with the same card gets to choose a present. Once all presents are taken the remaining turns get to steal from others until all cards are used.

Can't beat Christmas games/crafts Grin

TenCornMaidens · 21/08/2020 19:21

These are all brilliant. Was just thinking about gingerbread house from scratch.

Also thinking about Christmas mockgails in glasses with rimmed with crushed candy cane .... They'd love that.

HumphreyGoodmanswife · 21/08/2020 20:39

Christmas mocktails, that's an idea I might steal @TenCornMaidens.

We have gingerbread house silicone mould from Lakeland. It comes out every year. I made my DS a birthday 'cake' out of chocolate using it years ago, went down very well with all the birthday party guests

MarshmallowManiac · 21/08/2020 21:41

Great ideas, love the Christmas Mocktails, and chocolate wreath think they would go down a storm. Grin

How many boxes / tubs of chocolates do you need Humphrey? Was thinking they would make good presents for a couple of people I know who have December birthdays
HumphreyGoodmanswife · 22/08/2020 11:06

Rocking I use up to 2 tins Blush. I ram them in, I think it looks nicer but that's just me. Bearing in mind you need the ones that are wrapped and twisted at the ends to have something to tie the ribbon on to. So there are always some flavours that can't be used.
One year I made the mistake of not checking how the chocs were wrapped and ended up with a tin that hardly any could be used from.. Came in handy for the munchies whilst wrapping presents Wink

Crackery · 23/08/2020 14:09

Crispy cake wreath!! Love it! Any pics by any chance @70isaLimitNotaTarget ?!

Mine (16,18,20) are obsessed with board games. And one loves baking. We’re looking at our first Christmas with no visitors since before the kids were born if travel restrictions are still in place, so I’m a bit boggled. Christmas is for a house full of relatives and busy - I’m freaking out a bit Grin so watching this thread for ideas.

MarshmallowManiac · 25/08/2020 22:25

You're so right Nach it's so lovely at Christmas or on any holidays really to have a house full of family and friends. Smile Yes need lots of ideas too, everyone is so helpful and lovely on here and give us lots of ideas. Smile

I’m toying with the idea of clearing the garage out and getting it so we can actually use it as a workshop. I was actually going to try and do it anyway so that MIL and dh could spend some quality time pottering (dh wants to learn to make stained glass). One of the DD’s in particular is v crafty so I was toying with some sort of festive project? Or maybe we can make things to mail to people after the holiday? Glass snowflakes or something? So we’re sort of thinking about them if they can’t be here-ish... (is that ridiculous?)
It is an intention to sort the garage anyway lol. I’m not going full fecking Santa’s workshop for two weeks as a pop up 😂

stayathomer · 26/08/2020 15:35

Board games-monopoly, articulate, Cluedo, labyrinth, Scotland yard, charades, also set up your own version of 'The Cube!' Movie nights, gingerbread house competition and after that just drives or walks around lit up houses!!

MarshmallowManiac · 26/08/2020 18:31

Definitely am going to try some of these games Stay Christmas Monopoly looks fab too Smile

Great idea Nach love stained glass, maybe you could do some choc wreaths (look up thread) Smile
