www.happymallows.co.uk/
I'd recommend these marshmallow if you like a posh one. We use the giant American kind on the fire pit/log burner indoors but I ordered some of these for this weekend. Taste too good to burn crisp on a fire. We should have been at a festival last weekend and we're all gutted it's one more thing we've had to do without this year, so we're having staycation festival at home this weekend instead. Made a Spotify play list of favourite music from previous years bands, cooking up some yummy food later and having a roaring fire pit tonight.

Cheeky cinnamon churro flavour are to die for not that I've already sneakily opened them, just for testing purposes only Blush

Love your list BTW. I'm an avid bucket list maker.. One for every season. My DD13 made an autumn one last week and ive already started a sneaky winter/Christmas one hidden away. Makes for great memories Grin

While I'm on a roll with gourmet snacks Wink we love these too for special occasions

@MarshmallowManiac, I would check out IWOOT as it's a little cheaper and they have a deal on at the moment.

@anotherwinkywinkybumbum I've ordered from there a few times before. Great site, often a bit cheaper and order arrives a day or two later. I'd forgotten about them, thanks for the reminder Smile

anotherwinkywinkybumbum · 05/09/2020 16:21

@HumphreyGoodmanswife, you are more than welcome. Really glad that I've been able to help on this thread as I felt a bit selfish with all the taking I've been doing!!

DysonFury · 06/09/2020 08:47

I've bought a load of plain canvas bags form Hobbycraft (£1 each) and DC will decorate them as gift bags for Christmas using Sharpies. We've tested them out and they're great! Will also get DD to do a Halloween bag and Birthday ones as gifts.
They also sell plain canvas festive stockings also £1, which she will also decorate in December.

TW2013 · 06/09/2020 09:35

Have ordered a silicone gingerbread house mold as the teens want to up the annual competitive gingerbread competition a notch. Usually I buy identical ones but this year they want to make and decorate. Usually we have guest judges but that might need to be done by zoom this year.

I have also bought some silicone Christmas house molds apparently dh thinks Christmas villages are tacky, I bet he won't object to edible ones.

Think that ice skating will be a must. Not sure what else they can do with friends outside which doesn't cost loads. We would usually have lots of sleepovers. Might try to organise some carol singing on our road (fairly sociable) and suggest they each invite a friend to join them then do hot chocolate and marshmallows on the chimera. Some walks probably.

Has anyone tried online escape rooms which they could do with friends if they can't meet indoors?

MarshmallowManiac · 07/09/2020 17:11

Thanks Humphrey OMG they look fabulous, will have to investigate. Grin

Will look at IWOOT Winky thanks looks like it has good deals. Smile

Great idea about the gift bags Dyson thanks.

TW13 have never made a gingerbread house but would love to give it a try. Your competitions sound amazing! Grin

We have a Christmas movie trilogy. It always includes Elf, Arthur Christmas and Muppet Christmas Carol. We watch all of them over December never tried them all in one sitting!

Monr0e · 10/09/2020 08:01

And thank you for this thread. My 2 are 10 and 14 so I'm able to take loads of ideas from here. I have 2 weeks of at Christmas for the first time in forever. (Worked Christmas day and Boxing day last year)
I can't wait to sit with a giant note pad and glass of wine and go back and read all the ideas again 🙂🎄

SallySeven · 10/09/2020 20:17

Muppet Christmas Carol is excellent.

HumphreyGoodmanswife · 10/09/2020 20:26

Muppets Christmas Carol is our Christmas eve movie.. every year without fail. They can threaten Covid 'cancellation of Christmas' all they like, if we've got muppets on on Christmas eve we're happy Grin. The grinch on Christmas eve eve. Elf Christmas eve eve eve. The other 2/3 dozen plus dvds we have are fitted in throughout the rest of December!

I always insist we still watch Barbies perfect Christmas and the Postman Pat dvd every year too Blush. Youngest will be 11 this year but they all still insist Mummy can watch Postman Pat and Barbie.. Not sure it's only me that loves the nostalgia and memories.. Wink

SallySeven · 10/09/2020 20:27

Postman pat is always watchable imo.

HumphreyGoodmanswife · 10/09/2020 20:29

@SallySeven

Postman pat is always watchable imo.
Very true. Maybe I should dust off the non-Christmas ones in the cupboard too 🤔
SallySeven · 10/09/2020 20:31

The way the TV schedule is some nights.

MarshmallowManiac · 16/09/2020 13:10

Like reading through the thread too Monr0e love Muppet Christmas Carol, Christmas with the Kranks, Polar Express and the Grinch.

Yes it is good to have a Christmas routine Humphrey the kids like it I feel. Will definitely do that this year too. We always have Fish and Chips on Christmas Eve and we go to the sales after lunch on Boxing Day too, and have a Christmas hot choc while we're out. Smile

I've just seen there is a Christmas chronicles 2 coming out in November. The first has already been added to our every Christmas watch list do looking forward to seeing the new one.

monkeyonthetable · 17/09/2020 08:16

Movie nights: make popcorn, serve drinks in tall glasses with straws. Turn off the lights.

Casino night (as long as no one has gambling issues in the family) We played poker with the teens one night during lockdown and we were crying with laughter by the end of it. Cheat is a fun game too.

Board games nights - take it in turns to pick a favourite game

Quiz nights. Get DC to write quizz rounds - 10 qus each then take it in turns to be quizz masters.

Old fashioned parlour games - charades etc. They think it's boring until about 5 seconds in and then they love it.

If they are musical, stage a concert - a couple of carols or Christmas songs done all together and then everyone who has the talent does a turn of their choice. Non-musical people can tell jokes instead.

Cooking and carols. Stick some festive music on and bake together.

MarshmallowManiac · 17/09/2020 15:29

Must look out for that Monr0e thanks, loved the first one.

Great ideas Monkey remember having a cards night with the DC, only snap, BYN and 21 but we had an amazing night! Am also going to buy Christmas Monopoly as think the DC will love it, and looking forward to baking Christmas cookies, cupcakes, mince pies and a chocolate Christmas cake too in the run up to Christmas.
