That sounds lovely Cherry, our DC and me all love eating out, and the festive menus are always fantastic Smile

@Plastictattoo

How about a Come Dine With Me? Set a budget, let them do the cooking and a cheesy prize for the winner? Everyone picks their favourite TV Xmas special and take it in turns to watch them?
We did a ready steady cook with my teen in lockdown . At the point I could do the shopping so we picked different meats and could use the contents of the kitchen. I think it was one of the most enjoyable things we did
MarshmallowManiac · 16/08/2020 22:22

Sounds fab Starlight would love to try that thanks Smile

Just wondered what vouchers/experiences have your teens loved for Christmas time. Smile

OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 17/08/2020 11:50

That would be possible for this year, TIA

OP posts:
ShaunaTheSheep · 17/08/2020 17:03

Personally I wouldn't be buying vouchers unless 100% certain they can be used. Having said that:

U-17 driving experience
Artisan Sourdough baking class
Go Ape
Giant Scalextric racing
Dry ski slope/ringos
Karting
Theme park tickets/annual pass

MarshmallowManiac · 17/08/2020 17:15

Thanks Shauna, you've just sorted out our experiences in one fell swoop Grin My DS would love the driving experience, theme park and Go Ape, DD1 and DD2 would love the baking, DH would love the Scalextrix has one under the bed Really would love to make this Christmas extra special as 2020 has been so horrible. Sad

Think kew will still have the lights.

I have booked a room a few days before Xmas £100ish right in Leicester Square. Can cancel up until day before if it looks like there won't be much on.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 17/08/2020 17:39

Buy or make gingerbread men, buy a few tubes of writing icing and jelly sweets .... decorate blindfolded. Did this at a Christmas party once - absolutely hilarious

MarshmallowManiac · 17/08/2020 17:59

Thanks Bollocks would love to go to Kew, will look that up, and would love to go to London but maybe will go a little earlier as it's always so packed. love your user name Grin

Think the gingerbread house is nearly a certainty Rocking have been looking them up on Amazon [santa]

@MarshmallowManiac

I've been twice to kew -it's lovely. Last year with kids so not quite so relaxing.

Hoping to go this year with a friend so can make it a more adult occasion and have a drink!

MarshmallowManiac · 17/08/2020 21:40

It looks awesome, I would love to go. Do you think teens would enjoy it? Smile

Bollocksitshappenedagain · 17/08/2020 22:14

@MarshmallowManiac

I think so. The lights really are amazing. It's very Christmassy as well. Some food stalls at the entrance and also half way round also a couple of old fashioned fairground rides. (To be fair probably for younger ones!)

MarshmallowManiac · 17/08/2020 22:28

I think they would like it Bollocks, I think I will get them with the food Grin cause you know what they say, when you don't know what to do with teens just feed 'em Grin Grin

I love all the baking and board game suggestions from people who clearly don’t have teens

MarshmallowManiac · 18/08/2020 00:32

Merry haha, my gang love baking, but I struggle to get them to play board games Sad not giving up though Grin saw some Christmas based ones on Amazon might give it another go this year glutton for punishment

My teens love Ticket to Ride...

ShaunaTheSheep · 18/08/2020 07:24

@merrygoround51 I have 3 teens so obviously have no idea what would appeal to them Wink

ShaunaTheSheep · 18/08/2020 07:27

We had 'What do you meme?' game last year, played with 3 generations it was hilarious - the teens thought they were good at it but the adults were funnier. DDs asked for 'cards against humanity' for this year.

Rainbowqueeen · 18/08/2020 07:35

Christmas games

  1. Wrap one gift per person. For us it’s usually an edible treat that they can’t recognise - specialty stores are good hunting grounds. Everyone starts with a present. Find a Christmas left/right story on line then read it. When the story says left everyone passes to the left and vice versa. At the end you unwrap and keep the present in front of you

2 wrap up a bunch of random stuff where it’s hard to guess what it is by shape. Some good stuff and some things no one would want as a gift. Everything goes in the middle. Take turns at throwing a dice. If you get a six choose a present from the centre. If you get a one you can steal someone else’s. Keep going until all presents are gone from the centre. Unwrap and see what you were fighting over

Do some volunteer work. There are lots of places to get a good meal on Xmas day but what about all the other days? Donate, visit someone lonely, help someone walk their dog or clean their house.

I have had teens and they loved baking and board games (tho I expect DS would never admit it to his mates...)
TenCornMaidens · 18/08/2020 10:27

Best game for teenagers IMHO is One Night Werewolf. My two ask to play it endlessly. Needs 4 or more. Absolutely brilliant.

Also, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is good with teens - can be played with two or more.

MarshmallowManiac · 18/08/2020 15:33

Thanks for all the awesome ideas guys, will have to try those boardgames. Think my DC would definitely think that they would smash the memes too Shauna they probably would Grin and yes like me too Wink

Rainbow these sound really fab, something for the whole family I feel. Grin I help out in a foodbank and would love to get them involved Smile

Thanks *Maidens will look all of those up Smile

Scrawl game has worked well in our house.
Everyone is busy in every round and it’s fast paced and funny. I think there is a “adult” version but the green family one probably works best.
