Here we go. We're still a chatty bunch. We're going to knock any previous thread count into a cocked hat!

Go, go, go...

Dh thinks it's bad posture. I've been so tense lately that my shoulders are touching my ears.

I can't take ibuprofen because I have asthma. So just paracetamol.

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/08/2020 10:42

Can you have Voltarol gel? That's pretty good. DH has also been massaging my shoulder with olive oil mixed with a few drops of tea tree oil (to stop me smelling like a salad)

NerosFiddle · 29/08/2020 11:09

Fluffy I've just put a load of lights into my basket from we love Christmas. My Dh will kill me though if I buy any more Christmas stuff. My attic is full.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2020 11:11

Be careful if you use the gel. I was sensitive to it and it burned my skin!

I hope you get some relief. Muscular / nerve pain is awful.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2020 11:14

@NerosFiddle, the company is based in my town. We got one of our trees from them. I'm trying not to look, however!

Right we've done the first coat in the dc's room. We've decided not to do ours, it was a bit optimistic. Dh is about to do the final coat in the bathroom then we can do the second coat in the dc room. I've persuaded dh to just slap it all on which he's agreed to do but he keeps ranting to himself about how shit it is and how the paint isn't as good as the trade stuff etc etc Grin I'm tried now and am not cut out for manual work.

CrazyBaubles · 29/08/2020 11:51

Neros similar here with Christmas stuff. I tend to buy it when I'm on my own, then it appears in the boxes of decorations. My faux-innocent "oh didn't I tell you, I picked that up last year / dm gave it to me" is wearing thing though Xmas Grin

We love Christmas is in your town Fluffy? Can you go in and walk around? Do you go often? We have Festive nearby which makes decs all year and open their shop, usually in October. I have to go every year, it's tradition!

Wreck you have my sympathy, I bloody hate painting and would rather go without something so I can pay someone to do it for me Blush

We are being lazy. I had my first lie in since holiday - I slept until 9:30. DH made breakfast and now we're just lazing around watching tv / browsing online.
I will hang some washing out soon, then clean the washing machine, bathroom and kitchen while DH hoovers and mops, then I think we take ddog to the beach 😊

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2020 12:05

I think it's just a warehouse, Crazy. Maybe I should go and find it, just to check?! Xmas Grin

Sounds like you're having a lovely day; I missed relaxed days. And rarely sleep late, even if I have the chance. I think it's an age thing.

DH was looking at Costco online and whittering on , my ears homed in when he mentioned a 5' wreath ( Five feet across yeah Xmas Grin ) and a 9' pre-lit swag .........

Then he blotted his copybook by mentioning an 86" LD or an 85" Samsung TV .....and I mentally dropped off his radar .
he isn'r watching a B/W portable telly with an ariel made of a coathanger

But I have had my doorwreath since forever so I need a new one . And a new bannister swag , we threw out a load of the scruffy ones .

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2020 14:15

You should look at WeRChristmas and their 20% off, 70. That's the sort of stuff they do!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/08/2020 14:38

I'll have a look thanks Fluffy

I do realise I need to clear this with The Cats before I bring any flambuoyant decorations in.

Female Cat with roll up her sleeves and make it her mission to destroy Xmas Shock
I'll be safe with a doorwreath and a swag but not too much fripparties

Wheelyyyy · 29/08/2020 14:39

Marking place so i dont loose you all

MarshmallowManiac · 29/08/2020 16:10

Afternoon everyone.
Have got new car, hoping to get to IKEA just waiting on DD to come home.
Received my Rex order too, happy with everything, but just think that the lunch bags are a little flimsy, good that they are made from recyclable material though.

Crazy my usual get out is 'OMG I've had that AGES!' Think it's wearing thin too Grin

Neros I have asthma too and I find that Voltarol is fine for me, hope you find something that helps you too. Smile

Well we are wonderful aren't we, glad that at last it has been acknowledged! Grin Grin

ConstantlyCooking · 29/08/2020 16:50

MrsMad I hope your DM is feeling better. I think it is evil that the scammers prey on older people. AngryLuckily MIL calls me before agreeing to anything- but she still worries.
Crazy I make chilli jam for Christmas and we have it with cold turkey or cheese (or you can spread thickly on Brie, then wrap Brie in Filo pastry and bake*)
Fluffy* Dh and I defrosted the freezer last weekend and found mini mince pies!
V exciting to hear about advent calendars and decorations.
Last year I had the Macmillan one so I could convince myself it was in a good cause I may also have bought the M&M calendar
I hope your neck improves Nero. I have found volturol amazing but also use a microwaveable pad for heat ( I carry a heavy bag on one shoulder.
Have a good trip fluffy.
now to catch up with the afternoon posts (and avoid buying more Christmas towels).

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2020 18:21

Well found, Constantly!

I've just discovered that you can sign up for Booth's Christmas e-book. So I've done that! I'll like pop over in my lunch break on release day too. Unless I'm in my new job with 30 minutes lunch. I'll go after work if that's the case!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 29/08/2020 20:13

Fluffy SIL always gets me the Booths book. It's ace.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2020 20:22

We're nigh-on equidistant between 2 stores (Burscough and Hesketh Bank), so get a few copies. The kids keep them to plan our Christmas food all year. My children are Christmas nuts like me!

Mrsmadevans · 29/08/2020 21:13

Beautiful Most one of my favourite places Smile

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 29/08/2020 21:31

Really happy. Saw a tip on the Bargain Thread about Lands End. Needed a new winter coat as my trusty Seasalt has holes and got one that was £155 for £59 and looks like I can cope with any weather in it :)

CrazyBaubles · 29/08/2020 21:50

Lovely views most

I hope you enjoy Wales Fluffy

Constantly I was hoping you'd say chilli jam was an acquired taste or goes with something I don't eat. Now I really want some!

We had a lovely walk today - we did Keepers Pond and a little bit of the mountain. Ddog is exhausted!
It's been a really nice day, finished up with a Harvester tea and is watching Goliath.

I'm part of a fb group about Christmas and someone has posted that they put their tree up to cheer themselves up today - and others have popped up to say 'me too / mines been up a while' etc along with pics Xmas Shock
