Here we go. We're still a chatty bunch. We're going to knock any previous thread count into a cocked hat!

@CauliflowerCheese30
Yup. forgot cauli. DH doesn't like broccoli so he'll have to eat extra carrots Grin

CauliflowerCheese30 · 03/09/2020 21:26

We love trees in this house pussy Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/09/2020 21:35

I've never tried roasted cauliflower but roasted brocilli is Food Of The Gods .

I'm planning a trip to Costco tomorrow -for my supply of loo roll obvs -and if there's Christmas Stock in I might let my eyes stray across it ......

Good Luck in the new job Fluffy you're in Law IIRC?
My DD starts her Law Degree soon , she's so excited , but she knows it'll be a LOT of hard work

FireflyGirl · 03/09/2020 21:38

My Fitbit has updated itself this evening, and they've changed the way they log 'active minutes' which means it has lost the 93 minutes I logged today!! And as we all know, if Fitbit doesn't record it then it doesn't count Sad

I may have to lodge a complaint Wink

FireflyGirl · 03/09/2020 21:47

I agree about roasted broccoli, 70.

I love roasted cauliflower too - I found a recipe for cauliflower burgers, which are lovely, but as part of the recipe you coat the cauliflower with paprika and salt and roast it, and I always have to double up on that part of the recipe as I'll just eat the cauliflower like that straight out of the oven and sometimes I don't even bother making it into burgers Blush

Hope your DD enjoys her course - one thing I will say, studying law has absolutely no bearing on practicing, so don't get disheartened if she finds all parts of it boring. If they have a mock advocacy club, definitely get involved because that's the fun part!!

WreckTangled · 03/09/2020 21:57

Roasted cauliflower is the best. I love roasted broccoli too especially with some feta. Most veg tastes better roasted.

Fire I haven't updated my Fitbit to the new one her maybe I shouldn't...

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2020 21:57

I didn't do a full law degree (I've been told it's dull!), 70, I did Eng. Lit. and then the GDL conversion course. That was hard bloody work. The LPC after that was a piece of piss!

Crazy, there isn't much difference between the two jobs at all other than the Glassdoor reviews!. But at least I'll be WFH, which saves me £140-ish per month on the train.

Cauli, yes, new job doing the same job but for a very well known national company.

Crazy, how many more nights on the coo?!

How are you?

I am fine thank you lovely girl Smile Good to see you back where you belong Smile I think that is so good of you to do the first aid for the school , it's quite a responsibilty Flowers
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/09/2020 22:18

My DC both knew if they tried to follow me into NHS Healthcare I would put them under House Arrest and poke them with shitty sticks until they changed their minds Xmas Grin

Though I think my daughter was secretly proud of me when she was little .
She used to tell them at Nursery that "Daddy works on a pakoota (computer) and Mummy goes shopping" Xmas Shock

CrazyBaubles · 03/09/2020 22:41

I still haven’t tried roasted cauliflower Blush Every time I see it mentioned here I think I have to try it then I forget.

I’m saying Coo will be finished this weekend Fluffy. I’m doing the single thread stuff at the bottom - just the final colour to go (off-white) then have to do the finishing bits (back stitch I think)

70 not that long ago my nephew was asking about jobs and my mum told him I work in an office. My sister later heard him telling his cousin Uncle Crazy is just a teacher but Auntie Crazy is a Boss 😂 (I think I’m the only person he knows that has an office job as his dads family all have trades and dsis and dm work in retail).

I’m in bed, I’m still bone tired. I’m assuming it is hormone related as I have god awful cramps other charming symptoms 😩

CauliflowerCheese30 · 03/09/2020 22:53

So my Dh has just had a work email come through, 22.45pm, slightly taking the piss? He's local council and it was nothing important!!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2020 23:04

New thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/Christmas/4013873-Countdown-to-Christmas-2020-Thread-10-the-one-with-the-Very-Important-Participants?watched=1

Cauli, what was the email about?

Crazy, feel better soon. Flowers

I've been beavering away at my cross stitch this afternoon. I've done a fair bit, given how fiddly it is still can't count, mind!.

Morning!

Apparently it's Friday, but I've no clue, given my week off. 😂😂

Today is porch-painting day for me, plus we're doing the dining room as well. DH will do the carpet, and I'm on woodwork / windows / touching up paintwork detail. I'll probably sort the toys too, if I get a chance.

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 04/09/2020 07:03

Morning.
DH is painting the skirting board in the ensuite. It's water stained so it cries through the gloss after about 6 months.
He's just heading to the garage now mumbling about what he needs and left with "...I dunno where any of it is, so there might be some shouting in a minute..." Xmas Grin

pussycatinboots · 04/09/2020 07:18

As predicted, there was shouting "surprise me, where've you hidden the paint?" cheeky bastard erm, under the sink with the rest of the paint if you bend your back you'll see it
"Where are the brushes"...in the plastic box with all the other brushes and new roller heads, obviously - if you open your eyes and look on the shelf, you'll see them too.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I've shut him in there for now, the paint fumes should keep him quiet for 10 minutes or so. It' my own fault. The garage is my domain!

FireflyGirl · 04/09/2020 07:32

I have a lovely system where all the paint is on one shelf in the garage and all the accompanying detritus is in a storage box labelled 'decorating'. DH still struggles to find it Hmm

No decorating for us, though; it's our adventure day. As Magna is closed, we're staying closer to home and DSMIL is coming to us for takeaway tea.

DH wants us to sort the new car, but I've put my foot down. Adventure day today, we'll sort the car tomorrow!

WreckTangled · 04/09/2020 07:33

DH deals with all the paint etc I wouldn't have a clue where it is.

We're going to asda today which is an adventure for us as it's so far away Grin need to get the dc to try on their uniform first.

CrazyBaubles · 04/09/2020 07:58

Morning

Cauliflower DH often gets work related emails at random hours - but his are from parents. It infuriates me, especially when they come through at 10pm and end with "I expect an answer by 9am tomorrow" 😡

You've done so much so fast on they cross stitch Fluffy! I'm seriously doubting whether I'll be able to get a Christmas one done by Christmas at my slow pace.

puss 😂 When DH does that I don't answer anymore, except to say "I'm not the keeper of all things, you'll have to keep looking"

Have a lovely adventure day Firefly (& Wreck) Xmas Grin

I'm working a slightly shorter day today. New job means I set my own hours and as I worked on a bit here and there last week, I'm owed an hour or so which I'm taking today so I can cross stitch
TMI - cramps are getting worse so I'm hoping DH will sort ddog and tea so I can have a chilled evening

pussycatinboots · 04/09/2020 08:11

Crazy Get that Coo finished and then promise yourself you'll do some each night, there's ages 112 evenings left yet Xmas Shock Xmas Grin
He's finished - it was 10 minutes of prep moaning 10 minutes of painting and 20 minutes of cleaning up and putting away.
Cauli DH is ex Council, we found it was worse when he worked in the Private sector. He was part time, but would get emails and phonecalls on the days he wasn't paid for and they'd expect him to respond. That job didn't last long, tbh. They were taking the piss so DH packed it in.
Firefly and Wreck have a good day.
fluffy I've gone wrong somewhere on mine. I've counted and counted and it's right, but it's still 1 stitch out!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2020 08:49

Enjoy the trip to Asda, Wreck! Only one parent is allowed at school, so I've cried off this morning! I'm collecting DD's school tights from Sainsbury's in the village and posting birthday cards to Why (for the kids; I might be a bit late for DNiece!) and chilli jam to Crazy (who has the longest, most-Welsh, address ever!).

Then it's home to the porch.

I quite often can't find things at home, because DH puts them in stupid places, usually (or has left them on a surface, not where they live). I can find paint etc though. In the main.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2020 08:51

Boots, are you sure you're matching the right line when you're counting? Sometimes that's my problem when I've gone wrong: misalignment!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 04/09/2020 09:13

DS has his first wobbly tooth! He's taking ages to eat anything, bless him. We didn't realise and DH was getting impatient with him to finish his apple, which he'd given to him whole - it's one of the front ones that's loose, so he couldn't bite it! I hadn't noticed because I usually chop his apple, because I like my apples chopped (I even have a sharp knife that I keep at work specifically Blush).

CauliflowerCheese30 · 04/09/2020 09:29

Morning!! The message was something unimportant, no need for it to be sent so late!!

CrazyBaubles · 04/09/2020 09:35

puss I need to get my Christmas cross stitch done but I also have some crochet projects I'm meant to be finishing as gifts (I need to make a penguin for dnephew, a little Santa for my mum and a bookmark for my friend) so I'm not convinced it'll be done on time. I'm so slow!

Fluffy I wondered if you'd struggle with the address 😂

Firefly it was a running joke on my old team that I can't eat fruit like an adult. I too have a knife specifically so I can cut up apples (I like them in slices) bananas (to avoid dirty jokes if you eat them whole) and strawberries (to chop the green top off).

I've done one big task off my list so taking 5 before starting the next one...

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2020 09:41

Awww, Firefly, bless him. Mine are hanging on to their baby teeth like nobody else I've ever met. Still none lost at 7 and 6! 😂
