Here we go. We're still a chatty bunch. We're going to knock any previous thread count into a cocked hat!

Go, go, go...

Biddy no way will dh be finished today! He needs to undercoat it today then he will still need to paint it. Also need to paint the bedrooms, I've told him to just slap it on and get it done but today he's filling so then it'll all need sanding once it's dry... the dc are back on the 7th. We're going away Sunday though so that should be nice.

CrazyBaubles · 28/08/2020 11:32

Neros could you buy a plain one and some Frozen stickers so she can make it a frozen one?

Very autumnal here too. Not enough for the heating or DH to move from shorts to trousers but I've put my favourite fluffy cardigan on.

I've done one meeting this morning (video too so I had to look presentable) and have one (non video) one to go. I'm also suffering horrendous period pains so have AF to look forward to soon 😫

My plan for this evening is to settle down and start some actual Christmas present planning. I want to shop local & ethical so need to be organised.
And to get me in the mood, I'll be going back to the online JL Christmas shop where I found these yesterday....

Ah no crazy. I am dosed up in painkillers today as it's the heaviest day for me :(

DS' bus pass just arrived for school. Pleasantly surprised by how convenient the bus stop is, less than five mins walk from the house.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2020 12:25

Well, my work system is having a dicky fit and claiming there's no internet connection. There is. So I'm sitting here waiting for it to stop arsing about!

We're making chilli jam at lunch time. The chillies aren't going to ripen much now as it's gone cold, so we're just going to use green ones.

That's good news re the bus stop, Most.

Sorry about AF cramps, Crazy and Most. I'm lucky that I don't suffer too badly (ovulation, however, can floor me!).

Good to know that Erddig is worth visiting. I love NT membership for lunch stops on the way to places. Booking is a bit of a pain, but hey ho!

It's miserable here. Very wet and cool. I still haven't made it to the allotment to pick fucking beans as I've not been motivated. I'll have to go this afternoon. I'm chilly. Will need to find a blanket!

Fluffy our work phone system crashed about the time yours was messing about. Friday gremlins maybe.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2020 14:54

Telling us we shouldn't be working today, Most! 😂

Nice bulb collection there. I hope they all come up for you.

I made chilli jam. It always smells a bit odd afterwards, what with the boiled apple cider vinegar!

Right, DPs have gone off on holiday, so I have spent the day catching up on the thread.

Hope your DM is doing okay, MrsM.

I have made summer (autumn?? Blackberries, rhubarb and some apples that had seen better days) fruit crumble for after tea, and been looking at the Holiday Grand Plan with grand ambitions to start it the week after next when DS goes back to school. I get out of breath going to the loo, and can't bend down or get back up, so I'll let you all know how that goes... Hmm

Neros I posted a dressing table on the bargain thread yesterday (muddled my threads a bit). You could easily jazz the white one up with some blue & white glitter (I'd use festival glitter!) and maybe some decals like these. Then if she stops liking Frozen before she outgrows the table, you can paint it back plain.

Jam looks good, Fluffy.

Definitely get a bulb planter, most!

NerosFiddle · 28/08/2020 16:50

Fire and crazy dd is only 2 so I can pretty much talk her into what she thinks she wants. A plain white one will fit in with her room so much better. I've got her some Frozen plastic tat jewellery for her stocking so that can be the Frozen element of it.

Fluffy the jam is looking good. It reminds me to make a start on my chutney. Though I usually forget about it and find it 6 months later.

For those dealing with af, you have my sympathies. I spend 2 weeks every month in pain. My hot water bottle is my best friend then.

I've also spent more money because of the bargain thread. I got my granny the 4 coasters on photo box. That means I only have to get ds and dp something and I'm ready to wrap.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2020 17:00

The only advantage of menopause is the release from the monthly cycle ( though it brings its own trials , hot flushes , fatigue that destroys , thinning head hair and amazinly springy chin hair !)

Love a BH weekend , the feeling of four days ( I don't work Fridays )

Defrosting the freezer at the moment (oh the glamour)

I need to buy some bulbs I reckon, a couple of tubs of daffodils maybe . I have nastursiums in pots , no flowers on them, we grow them for caterpillars . They've been devoured , not Cabbage White caterpillars , but looks like Small White . Good enough .

CrazyBaubles · 28/08/2020 19:57

There must have been something in the air for the work systems Fluffy as teams would not cooperate for my last meeting, then emails went down altogether 🙄

What do you eat the chilli jam with? I'm intrigued by it but can't imagine what you match it with.

Firefly I think your version of the grand plan should be listing the most important jobs and booking either DH or someone else in to do them for you!

I disnt realise your dd was so young Neros. In that case, ignore me, but the nice white one and spoil her with frozen bits and bobs.

70 I probably wouldn't mind if my cycle was monthly - I have a hope that if it was, it wouldn't be as painful. Hormone issues means it comes whenever it fancies (sometimes months in between, sometimes days) and it's the second worst pain I've ever experienced (pancreatitis being the worst). And mine comes with hot and cold flushes, exhaustion and the wonderful PMT that DH is very wary of

I'm settling into my cross stitch now. I've started present research but taking a screen break.

pussycatinboots · 28/08/2020 20:04

most We've got a bulb planter unless I chucked it. It's hard work on your thumb/wrist joint. I use a narrow trowel now or get DH involved Wink
70 thank you for reminding me, I need to defrost the freezer compartment in the kitchen fridge.

MarshmallowManiac · 28/08/2020 20:11

Evening everyone.
Definitely autumnal today, windy, rainy and cold full set Grin

My Rex order of stocking fillers should be coming tomorrow Most Hope you are feeling better, love the bulbs. Smile

Mrs hope your DM is feeling better after her fall. Flowers

Love crumble Firefly

It was so much easier when they were little Neros Smile

Definitely need to defrost freezer 70

Wreck he sounds like my DH with his 'filling and sanding' Grin

Enjoy Christmas planning Crazy

Headed to Lidl for shopping today, and couldn't believe not 1 bottle of Olive Oil in the place. Shock Hoping to pick up car and head to IKEA tomorrow finally for our Uni trip. Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2020 20:36

Crazy, anything savoury really. Cheese toasties are good, cold meats, as a dipping sauce for samosas / spring rolls etc. Loads of uses!

I'm so bloody cold. I succumbed to 'testing' the heating for half an hour earlier. Brrrrrr!

I defrosted our chest freezer on my lunch break the other day. It was brilliant.

I'll look at the HGP next week too. We're hiring a carpet cleaner next week. The lounge carpet is filthy! I need to bundle DS' 4-5 clothes up too and get them sold. If I can get £25 I'll be happy!

Mrsmadevans · 28/08/2020 21:21

Lucky you MM our nearest is Cardiff 🤤🤤🤤

MarshmallowManiac · 28/08/2020 21:44

You and me both Mrs, I also need an official embargo to stop me buying towels. Grin The only thing is our nearest JL is a little one, our nearest good sized one is almost an hour away. Smile

FireflyGirl · 28/08/2020 21:58

I wish we had a closer IKEA - nearest one is about an hour away. Probably best for the bank balance that we don't, though!

Nearest JL is about an hour away as well.

Have lots of Lidls, though. I do love their pretzels!

MrsM I'm sure our robovac is a Eufy, I can try and help?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2020 22:06

Hallowe'en Duvet Covers Xmas Grin ( Prepare for choruses of is this a thing now ? )

I need a restraining order on TeaTowels though in my defence I use them as handtowels .
Christmas ones (of course) fir trees and holly
Easter - rabbits
Hallowe'en ( one hanging up on the oven door right now) with black cats , also have pumpkin ones .
Obviously being the CatSlave to 2 DSH moggies (black) allows me to use it all year Wink

HomeSense (now absorbed into TKMaxx in my town) is a great hunting ground though I cannot be bothered with the TKMaxx bit

MarshmallowManiac · 28/08/2020 22:07

Our nearest IKEA is almost an hour away too Firefly Sad

WreckTangled · 28/08/2020 22:07

We've got a John Lewis home about forty minutes away in our nearest big town. Our nearest IKEA and full John Lewis are both in Southampton which is about 90 mins away.

I love the Halloween bedding mrs! our nearest matalan in a good forty minutes away too but in a different town so I rarely go. Probably best Grin
