Go, go, go...

Sorry I have been MIA. Had a bit of drama here but mostly sorted now.
Have had a scroll through what I've missed.

Wreck your waffles yesterday looked delicious 😋
I know I shouldn't but I always feel sorry for hormonal teenagers. I remember being that age and everything was just so hard and everyone was annoying and nobody understood you because you were being driven crazy by hormones but you already know everything so you don't want to talk about it
I clashed loads with my mum but her response was to try and micromanage me and all it did was make me fight against her.
My dad on the other hand, he would be short and sharp with outright rudeness but stroppiness was handled by either copying me to show how silly I was being / making it funny or giving me a cuddle whether I wanted one or not.

Hope your DS is enjoying his school Neros
My dm still likes to tell people that she was worried about taking me in but I was so excited I ran in and didn't look back Blush I don't think she's ever forgiven me 😂

What book are you reading Constantly?

I don't get on with Pointless either. I like a fast moving quiz so Mastermind or the Chase (although I only really like the cashbuilder & final rounds).
I used to really enjoy the Weakest Link too.

I'm having a bit of a stressful week with work and it's making me exhausted. It's also rained non stop here all day so I'm not looking forward to walking ddog later.

In other news though, I have my teapot now and it's lovely 😊 No drips, very pretty and meant I could have 3 cups of tea to keep me warm while on a meeting (I told my manager what I was doing and now she wants a teapot too)

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/08/2020 14:58

I've got masks to cut out and make but my sewing machine is in the garage and it's raining so I'm not doing it this afternoon.

I met my friend at a local country park for a picnic and a walk today. There were conkers on the ground and it felt very autumnal.

My sympathies Wreck. I've got an eye roller. I count to ten a lot. It gets better.

pussycatinboots · 27/08/2020 15:22

Only Connect is a favourite here too. I'm not too bad at the connecting wall - sometimes I surprise myself with the amount of random crap circulating my brain!

Wreck Have you shown her Harry Enfield/"Kevin the teenager"?

Crazy have you crocheted a lovely warm blanky tea cosy for your pot yet?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 27/08/2020 15:28

I have not heard of the Connect programme (I do appear to live under a rock). I have got a bit bored of quiz programmes these days.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2020 15:51

I can do the wall and the missing letters rounds, Boots. I'm awful at the other round though!

Why, it's hosted by Victoria Coren-Mitchell on BBC2, usually before University Challenge. It's a tough viewing hour, ha ha! Xmas Grin

Puss I have. It resulted in her storming off upstairs and slamming the doors because I was apparently making fun of her Grin

There's no way she worried about going back to school she's looking forward to it.

I'm back at work a week today and I'm really not looking forward to it.

It was autumnal this morning, bright and sunny with dewy grass. Been raining all afternoon though.

Oh no crazy your parents sound like dh and me!

We're having sausages and mash for dinner. It's that kind of weather.

DH has is repainting the bathroom but trying to sort out a slightly flaky bit of artex (yep that's right) ended up with the whole thing coming down Hmm

pussycatinboots · 27/08/2020 17:05

Wreck she can take a joke then! Grin My uncle took my cousins bedroom door off because she kept slamming it - she got a curtain instead...much harder to slam quieter Grin.
DH managed to remove plaster skim from one bedroom ceiling. He said the paint was too heavy...

WreckTangled · 27/08/2020 17:22

I told dh I just wanted him to freshen it up and slap it on because we're hoping to move in a year or so but he gets carried away and is such a perfectionist he wants things done properly. Only trouble is he never finishes them 🙃 I've threatened removing the door I might have to do it!

Mrsmadevans · 27/08/2020 18:13

Evening everyone Smile
I have been so busy it's not true, Mum fell yesterday , she's ok but we needed to rearrange the bed and the dining room to stop her from falling again and give it a good clean afterwards, so we have been doing that today for 6 hours . Me , Dh & Bobbo getting in the way of us two Hmm
Consequently we are knackered , l came home and had a hot bath in lavender Epsom salts . I could feel the stress lifting from me as l lay in the water it was gorgeous Smile
Wreck it will take the patience of a saint l know Flowers
Boot love Only Connect too , am useless at it too Grin my Dd2 seems to be able to get it, so l wonder if you just need a head full of loads of trivia like she has to do be able to do it lol Grin

NerosFiddle · 27/08/2020 22:35

Evening.

Every time I've went on mn today I went into the bargain thread. Bad mistake! I've spent a small fortune but I've got a good load of presents bought.

I'll try and catch up tomorrow.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/08/2020 22:44

The bargain thread is both amazing and dangerous. There was quite a niche item suggested this evening. 🤯 Hope you got some goodies Neros - I'm still kicking myself over missing a board game bargain but I'm hoping it will pop up again. Maybe Black Friday or similar.

Night all.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2020 23:26

Woolly, I saw the name of that item and was a bit Xmas Confused and Xmas Blush by it. I didn't click on the link as I do not want that sort of targeted ad with small kids around!

Did you get your vanity table yet, Neros?

Sounds like a busy day, Mrs.

Which board game did you miss, Woolly? I sit on my hands loads so I don't just buy random shit!

ConstantlyCooking · 28/08/2020 06:27

119.
It feels v autumnal this morning so will be wearing tights and ankle boots for the first time since about April!

WreckTangled · 28/08/2020 08:19

Autumnal here this morning too although forecast 22° by next weekend...

NerosFiddle · 28/08/2020 08:52

Morning.

Dh is threatening to put on the heating tonight if it stays this temp (11 degrees yesterday).

Fluffy I think I'm going to hold out for the Smyths £10 off. Dd would love the Frozen one but I'm going to go for just a plain one.

Woolly I missed out on the ticket to ride game. I don't know what it is and dc are too young but I wanted it anyway 😂.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2020 08:54

Morning!

There is definitely an autumnal chill here. It's weird, even when it's - in theory - warm enough in the house, it has a bit of a chill to it! We won't be putting the heating on though, it's not that bad yet!

I didn't wake up until 7.40. I'd stayed up to book NT tickets for our drive home on Weds. We're stopping at Erddig in Wrexham. I'd never heard of it til I was looking for a suitable stop off point!

Not long til we dip below 100 days and Mr Firefly's birthday!. Exciting times! Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/08/2020 08:56

Constantly tights and ankle boots sound cosy. I had my boots on yesterday for my walk.

It was Ticket to Ride Fluffy. By the time I'd dithered over whether we'd play it and if it would descend into anarchy like Monopoly it has gone back up in price (£12.99 bargain to £30+ normal). I've set an alert and will be reasonably happy if I can pick it up for less than £20.

School shoe shopping and a trip to Wilko/stationers for school supplies today.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2020 08:56

@NerosFiddle, someone on the bargain thread said the Smyth's thing isn't happening this year, but then didn't come back to clarify if they meant the £10 off £50 promotion or not.

Oh, we'll put the heating on in the holiday cottage if we need it. Damn right! The owner has said we can arrive whenever we like, so we'll likely leave here at about 10 and then go for a wander when we get there.

WreckTangled · 28/08/2020 09:12

I bought some toms paxton boots the other day. I've been wanting some for ages and found them half price plus 10% blue light discount. So pleased.

Dh is doing more painting today and the dc are moaning that we aren't doing anything so another fun day ahead...

NerosFiddle · 28/08/2020 09:17

@fluffy I saw that, but then I tweeted Smyths and they said they couldn't confirm if there was one this year but to keep an eye out. It's on bargain pages on fb that it'll be on either 22nd or 29th.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2020 09:33

Ahhhh. They're always so cloak and dagger! The fact it's happening will please many people!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/08/2020 09:50

Morning all. Just bought a load of stocking fillers and little gifts on Rex London. The rain is finally easing here so hoping to go for a walk later. Weekend looks quite nice, cool but dry with some sun. We are planning to explore a bit more of Monmouthshire.

BiddyPop · 28/08/2020 10:23

Morning all, truly miserable - very wet, windy and cold here too. I'm bundled up in a hoodie today, and DH is wearing trousers!! (I've been mostly wearing just tshirts, and DH only wore trousers yesterday because of needing to meet people in person, it was his 1st time since early March!! Today it's for heat purposes....). No sign of nice heat next week either though....you were all dying in the heat wave recently and we were hovering about 20 degrees [brr], it feels like we haven't had a summer at all!

MrsMad, I hope your DM is ok after her fall, is she sleeping downstairs now?

I'm afraid of the sound of "niche" bargains...I think I'd better wait until I am looking from my ipad not the work pc Hmm Grin

Wreck hopefully DH gets finished today, you can all enjoy the fresh surroundings and then do something together tomorrow. Are DC going back to school soon?

Damn phone ringing

pussycatinboots · 28/08/2020 10:30

fluffy we went to Erddig years and years ago (it was only 15 miles from my parents house) It was really interesting. The gardens were lovely.
Raining now, but we've managed to sort through last years daff and tulip bulbs. I went a bit OTT in Morrisons and bought a load more. B&M next week for more compost then I can get them in. I suspect DH has mixed up my snowdrops with the rest🤦‍♀️

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/08/2020 10:34

Forgot to say fluffy that Erddig is lovely :)

We are going to visit the Kymin this weekend mrs
