Here we go. We're still a chatty bunch. We're going to knock any previous thread count into a cocked hat!

Go, go, go...

I consider it a good day if I get 1-2 questions right on UC, Woolly! 😂😂 I'm pretty sure they gen up on all sorts of random things prior though (as you would with things like African countries / the periodic table for Pointless!).

Neros, I sobbed with DD. I was a bit better with DS! I'm glad he enjoyed himself.

Wreck, ouch re the waffles. I hope they were worth it!

We have sun now too. On and off. It's definitely washing-drying weather. Biddy, DH went downstairs to put the washer on after we'd come up to bed. I remembered after I'd got upstairs! Blush

I've not done cross stitch for two nights. I've been busy buying uniform bits and sorting holiday trips next week. So time consuming.

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 26/08/2020 11:48

I've got to sew on name tapes to DS's new bits of uniform. Only 4 items but 😴 and I can't do laundry markers because the name tapes are compulsory.

Then I need to make more face masks. I think DD1 will need at least one a day following the government's wishy washy guidance about wearing in corridors. She's got training days next week so will hopefully have more idea of school policy by then.

MarshmallowManiac · 26/08/2020 11:56

Morning everyone.
Mad morning after car dying yesterday trying to source a car for work next week! We are going to look at one later today, so fingers crossed. Smile

Biddy almost got lost in Connemara one year, and love Clare especially the Cliffs of Moher.

Neros Flowers

I always leave the name tags to the last minute Woolly hate the job.

pussycatinboots · 26/08/2020 13:22

Nero If I get to go on Millionaire, I'll need a phone-a-friend Grin re the sticker, surely the teacher should give it to you for being brave, not DS? Wink
Woolly Uni Challenge is a favourite here. We play along and keep score. DH hates us finishing last.
fluffy you need to watch the Christmas specials - they're more my level tbh.
Wreck That's a nasty shock Shock hope they were worth it.

WreckTangled · 26/08/2020 14:34

The shock of paying for ds' football training was even worse Shock it's been an expensive day.

Also we usually love the cafe we went to but with Covid they're now serving everything on paper plates with wooden disposable cutlery which is not ideal for waffles and then they had all the fans on full blast so dd and I ended up with maple syrup in our hair after shivering the whole time Hmm will give it a miss from now on for sure.

Neros please ds enjoyed himself!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2020 14:38

Wreck, I've started saving the £50 swimming fees per month again. We haven't gone back to swimming though as the skanky twat teacher carried on taking money through lockdown, even after I asked him not to as I was furloughed. And then didn't pay it back when I asked him to! 😱 Anyway, relationship totally broken down there. And the replacement lessons we arranged are at DW, so the teacher needs to see what SD are going to do with her contract now they've taken it over. So we're out on a limb for now.

The waffle experience sounds a bit rubbish. Definitely not somewhere I'd go back to either!

Felt very autumnal today :) Ordered £45 worth of bulbs from Wilkos and also the sofa skins so excited for all those to arrive.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/08/2020 19:15

I cannot get on board with Pointless

I'm never at home on work days for Tipping Point or The Chase but at my DParents we watched it on Challenge ( better than The History Channel or repeats of Heartbeat )

I was thinking though that Ben Shephard is someone I have never heard anything bad about and if someone did find some dirt I'd cover my ears and La La La
Maybe he bites hos toenails ? Who knows ?

We pay DS guitar lessons , during Lockdown they were 1:1 on facetime . Far more ££ but in a class more pupils = more individuals to pay fees .
DS likes both group class and 1:1 so he could do the same if he couldn't get to class .

ConstantlyCooking · 26/08/2020 19:18

Biddy -I am in awe of your energy!

Re quizzes - DH and i record Mastermind so we can enjoy competing against each other!
I am brightening my back to work experience by re-reading a favourite Christmas book ( in my defence it is almost autumn Xmas Grin)

Mrsmadevans · 26/08/2020 19:54

Wreck that is a shame bout the waffles love Hmm
They looked gorgeous too .
Glad l don't have to pay fees for anything anymore , it was really expensive at the time , the piano Lessons were a tenner 18 yrs ago! For half an hour !

WreckTangled · 26/08/2020 20:46

Dds piano is £82 a month Blush Luckily mil pays half.

Dd is being so awful again honestly she just can't say anything nice to anyone ever. She picks on ds on all the time and just rolls her eyes. She's been like it for months and months but it's getting worse, it was just the odd day but now it's every hour of every day. I don't know if I should come down hard to tip and stop it now or pick my battles and try to keep her on my side as much as I can. Also I'm sure I was a teenager only a year or two ago so not sure how this has all happened Confused

Mrsmadevans · 26/08/2020 21:21

I'm sorry Wreck it must be hormones surely?
It reminds me of the horrible sister in the Mr Kiplings advert who tells her brother to 'GET OUT' when he is only bringing her a cake. Seems as if it may be quite common if the ad is anything to go by Flowers

WreckTangled · 26/08/2020 21:26

It most definitely is hormones but I can't handle another six or seven years of this Shock

MarshmallowManiac · 26/08/2020 21:47

I would say pick your battles Wreck, my lot have their moments but usually when I don't say anything they usually apologise later. Know it is horrible, and sometimes really find it hard to button my lip. Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2020 23:25

Wreck, I won't allow rudeness, so I'd probably sit down and have a chat with her and see what's going on, whilst telling her that persistent rudeness won't be tolerated (not angrily / nastily, just matter of fact).

£82 for piano?! Ouch! Has she remote lessons like 70's DS?

I've done a bit more cross stitch tonight. I hope I remember to take it to Wales at the weekend!

120 good morning !
Fluffy i have just noticed that there is no template on the xstitch - does this mean you're doing it free hand or is there a guide ? (Haven't attempted decorative sewing since school).
Wreck teen hormones are awful ! It is a bit like the toddler years only much longer! However, they do emerge from it eventually. I tried to prioritise so I wasn't always negative (unlike the teens!) and did some strategic ignoring. I didn't allow rudeness or unkindness but didn't notice eye rolling (painful tho it is) if they were doing what was asked. Good luck - it is horrible. The teen version of DD made guest re-appearances during lockdown Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2020 06:50

Morning!

There's a pattern, Constantly (2 sheets of A3!), then you count to make sure you're putting them in the right place I often go wrong!. I try not to stray too far from where I already am. 😂

Is your school opening again today? Good luck if so!

I really have to go to the allotment after dinner tonight. I think I'll be donating beans to my neighbours though as we've no freezer space!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 27/08/2020 07:28

Dh says it's because we're so similar we clash a lot. Thanks I will try to pick my battles a bit but she is rude all day, she shouted at me to shut up two days ago so I took her Alexa away for a week.

I've had the worst nights sleep, didn't get to sleep until about 3 and alarm set for 7 as dd has a physio appt today at 9. When I booked it I assumed we would be able to do something nice afterwards but I don't think that'll be happening.

Fluffy to be fair she usually has two half hour lessons a week. She had her first virtual one last week and I think it's got to carry on like that for now. It's a shame as she should have done her grade 2 over the summer.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2020 08:54

Similar personalities do clash, I did with mum and DS does it with DH (who still hasn't learned how to not wind the poor boy up; it drives me bonkers!).

Hopefully you can have a lazy day after the physio given the lack of sleep.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 27/08/2020 12:40

Fluffy you and mum clashed spectacularly. My son clashes with his dad as well. I have a day off today so doing my cleaning and my food shop was delivered so totally living the dream life.

pussycatinboots · 27/08/2020 13:46

I'm a celeb is from Gwrych Castle this year. Grin
That should be nice and warm for the celebs don't think it's got much roof left

MarshmallowManiac · 27/08/2020 14:05

Afternoon everyone.
Not bad day at the moment, think rain is on it's way though. Went to town today, bought shoes for school, notebook, scrapbook, food and we went for a nice Hot choc in Costa. Smile Heading to the cinema tonight to see Tenet apparently kids choice Bought our car should be able to pick it up at the weekend maybe we'll get to IKEA this time Grin

Maybe she's a bit worried as the date to go back draws nearer Wreck , I know my DS is. I don't like rudeness at all, but I have been giving them a little slack, as I know that they are worried. Smile

Wow Why sounds fab, have a good day. Smile

BiddyPop · 27/08/2020 14:31

If I can, I love to watch Only Connect - even if I only rarely manage anything like a connection!! Or else Countdown (which is usually the "* out of 10 Cats do Countdown" nowadays, cos of work).

Wreck I hope the appointment went ok and you found something you could do together after, I agree with others about similar personalities and teenage hormones! I occasionally get a (rugby tackle) hug or a quiet "thank you" for something, in between the growls and comments - but its so hard not to react to it (except to be clear when boundaries are being unacceptably crossed).

I managed to sew 2 face masks last night - we were trying a slightly different method to fit better which was somewhat successful, but not entirely, but at least DD has enough to manage the start of school. Most of what I'd mentioned in the last post was done over a full week away on holidays (with nowhere to go so I had brought my sewing machine in the car), and the past 2 weeks of holidays at home. And this week, I am bored of work (its a tedious admin project) and waiting on my boss to ring me (once he escapes his builders in the house) about it so distracting myself here, with Scout and HGP stuff for 20 minutes every couple of hours, to give me a break between the tedium. I feel a bit bad, but I am actually making progress and others are really swinging the lead around me at times....

It was pouring rain all morning, but the sky is starting to clear now (although radar says to expect more rain late afternoon) and yesterday's wind has blown through so its calm again. I hope you are all having a good day.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2020 14:43

Ooh, Biddy, your mention of masks reminds me that I've ordered Christmas ones (2!) for myself! A woman on my allotment site makes them, so I send business her way.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2020 14:54

Oh, and I love Only Connect too. I'm shit at it though! 😂
