Here we go. We're still a chatty bunch. We're going to knock any previous thread count into a cocked hat!

Go, go, go...

Mrs I like those stags.

I'll have to get a run out to B&M and Home Bargains. The range usually starts to put their Christmas stuff out around now but haven't seen anything in my local one.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/08/2020 19:21

Hi everyone. Hope all well? We have had such a busy active day at Bluestone. DH has just gone to get fish and chips and DS and I are in our PJs. I have done over 23000 steps today Shock

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2020 20:17

My DD makes herself Cold Coffee but I would baulk at Cold Te too .

I like my coffee about 1/3rd soya milk , but tea has to be properly mashed so it's Builders Tea and Milk In First otherwise its cold and soya milk has a reputation for being temperemental in tea .

CrazyBaubles · 21/08/2020 20:23

I like tea stewed for a few mins, 2 sugars, milk in last, not too strong and a little bit too hot to drink so it lasts!

23000 steps most? Your feet will fall off if you keep that up!
What is open in Bluestone? I really liked the spa there.

Love the idea of lots of battery operated candles at Woolly Towers 🕯

What sort of decs does everyone have?
I try for a nostalgic feel, my tree has coloured and white lights, rough green gold and red theme (but we collect baubles from wherever we go so it gets more mismatched every year). We tie string along the picture rail for cards (like both our nans did), DH usually puts my spare fairy lights up in the hallway. I have a very kitsch set of plastic snowmen lights that are either in the kitchen or dining room and I have various ornaments that I rotate based on what I fancy.

Thank you MrsMad for the kind words about the job. I've read so many policies and tried to learn so much I think my head is full. Good thing DH is away this weekend!

I've had a bath, tidied the kitchen and bathroom and now watching tv with a candle burning (called Christmas Garland), a rum & Coke & my cross stitch.
The wind is howling here, I'm in the mood for something festive. What can I watch? I'm even wearing sloppy warm leggings and a jumper like they do in Hallmark Christmas films Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2020 20:31

In that outfit you need The Holiday, Crazy! 🎅🏻 🎄

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/08/2020 20:53

Deffo either The Holiday or a cheesy Hallmark jobbie.

I love the sound of your nostalgic theme. Our house is modern and doesn't have sort of features that would allow us to that. I really miss my mantlepiece.

We have: Red, gold and ivory on our main tree in the living room. This also has some random bits and bobs - personalised baubles and some homemade ones from DS at primary school. Cadbury purple and gold in the dining room and the tree in the hall has a rough theme of peacock colours. I do a fresh greenery wreath with red ribbons to match the door. I've been to a couple of courses but I think I'm going to freestyle my wreath this year. Hoping to forage for the greenery - maybe why will come and keep cavey for me 😂

I'm usually a rum (Bacardi) and coke gal but I have lemon gin and lemonade tonight.

WreckTangled · 21/08/2020 21:00

I like the hallmark film about the fireman and the cat (only true Christmas lovers will know it, I've watched it many times!).

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2020 21:12

You need "Angels in the Snow" Crazy
Kirsty Swanson ( Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the film) is in it .

And if you get to the end without wanting to marmalize the youngest daughter you're a better woman than me Xmas Grin

It's quite sad , there's A Twist .

pussycatinboots · 21/08/2020 21:41

Wreck I've seen that one Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2020 21:55

the fireman and the cat

I know the one you mean, not watched it though . ( Google tells me The Nine Lives of Christmas . Ginger cat ? )

Yes Grin it's a great one! I love them all actually
NerosFiddle · 21/08/2020 22:05

My favourite is called the 12 dates of Christmas. It is Zach from saved by the bell. If you have Disney plus it's on that.

My decorating could be described as tacky. It's a bit of everything thrown together. The more lights the better Xmas Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/08/2020 22:10

Ooh Woolly I like the idea of assisting with foraging. Put my name down on the volunteer list 😀

MarshmallowManiac · 21/08/2020 22:11

Glad you had a great day Most Used to walk that far but not since I hurt my ankle Sad

My tree has coloured lights Crazy we have green, gold and red decs also.

Don't mind Frostinos but only drink about 1 cup of ordinary coffee a week. Think I went off it first when I became pregnant. Smile I love a good cup of tea in a teapot but usually drink fruit tea on a daily basis. Smile

CrazyBaubles · 21/08/2020 22:13

I'm partway through The Holiday. I enjoy the cheesiness and it kind of balances out for me - I don't like Jude Law in anything, but Jack Black makes up for it (for me anyway).

Neros I'm adding that film to my list. I loved Saved By The Bell specifically for Zac. I think he was my first little mini crush (I must have been about 7 😂) and the soft spot is still there.

Your house sounds very colourful at Christmas time Woolly, and perfectly suited to a newer house.
The house we have now has high ceilings and lots of original features so vintage seems to fit. No idea how I'll manage if / when we ever buy because anything with features here goes for £££.

I always mean to sign up to a wreath making course but forget until they're all booked. Doubt they'll even run this year, but I have a trusty artificial wreath that's going well, along with one my mum was going to throw out - there's nothing wrong with it, she just wanted one with big, glittery flowers and my dad moaned about her having 2.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/08/2020 22:35

Crazy there's lots of YouTube videos about making wreaths. The course last year was brilliant and explained all the stuff that previous ones seemed to think were state secrets. Basically it's covering a wire wreath form in moss and securing it with wire. Don't cut the wire. Gather greenery in bunches of three. Wire these on to the wreath - the first bunch pointing outwards down towards 8 on the clock and moving clockwise wire each new bunch alternately pointing outwards and inwards. 8 or so bunches should cover the wreath. 10 at the most. Add decorative bits - wiring them on. Cinnamon sticks, pine cones, dried citrus, small baubles etc. Add a hanging loop with ribbon or raffia at the top. Add a decorative ribbon at the bottom. Use sharp secateurs to cut the greenery and the wire.

Greenery could be holly, ivy, laurel or anything evergreen. I'm hoping I can incorporate some of my rosemary bush.

This was mine last year

CrazyBaubles · 21/08/2020 23:16

That wreath is beautiful Woolly. Did you dismantle it to keep the baubles etc?

I'm all likelihood I'll end up reusing my wreaths until they break. The one we bought is a bit sentimental as DH bought it after me wanting one for a few years and not being able to afford it. We got together so young we had no spare money for anything then one year DH got a bonus and took me to buy decs.
Funny to think of it now, we walked around with me putting stuff in the basket and DH adding it up on his phone to make sure we didn't go over budget. We had to put a few things back too, including a cheaper wreath, then DH came home with the one I liked a few days later. It cost £30 which was a fortune to us then! Xmas Smile I'll probably just add some lights to it.

I'm in bed now, and suddenly boiling. Still cross stitching but my eyes are starting to ache now so it'll be tome to sleep soon....

CrazyBaubles · 22/08/2020 00:57

🎄 125 🎄

Oh dear, I was meant to go to sleep but I got lost down an internet rabbit hole.
I start looking at Christmas bedding - I've attached pics to show how it went Xmas Grin

That's it, I'm stepping away from the iPad now!

I love the middle one Crazy.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/08/2020 07:27

Morning!

I like the colours, but so much faff in pictures 2 and 3! Can't be doing with cushions and throws etc! 😂😂

I'm harvesting today. Possibly all day! So much to pick including more runner beans; kill me now!.

Tomorrow is weeding day.

I think DH will bring the kids to help get the potatoes up. Hopefully we won't damage too many. I'm beginning to regret growing in a trench now though, even though earthing down is easier than up! I have to go down about 18 inches. 😂😂

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 22/08/2020 08:53

Morning.
NDNs cat has been fed and watered - he's currently asleep on our doorstep.
DH has been in NDNs back garden, trimming our tree which overhangs a tiny bit. Oh, and he's checked on the Hamster and watered the Bonsai.
Busy morning.
fluffy make sure you have a bath and Wine later. You'll deserve it!
Crazy if I swapped our bedside lamps for trees or put one in each of our bedroom windows (3) DH would think i'd seriously lost the plot! It would look great in a lodge/hotel etc, but with my cats...there's be tinsel and baubles and fur everywhere Grin probably in pursuit of a rogue moth

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/08/2020 09:04

Xmas Grin yes the 2nd/3rd photos look very Disney Film / Hallmark Christmas Movie Ski Lodge bedrooms .

Dreadful journey through blizzards to get there then tumble into bed after hot chocolate to wake on Christmas Eve in a Winter Wonderland of snow and tartan Xmas Grin (or "plaid" as they'd call it )

ConstantlyCooking · 22/08/2020 09:29

Good morning. I am impressed by your wreath woolly. I like the idea of making my own but currently have 3 shop bought ones (last year I forgot i had bought one in the sales).
DH and I are gardening this afternoon because everything has suddenly grown after the combination of sun and rain. We also need to decide where to re-plant our apple trees because we hadn't realised how shaded they would be by next door's tree - it is deciduous and so we didn't notice when we planted. Hopefully next year there will be one or two apples to go with the gooseberries- I might even manage a pie!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/08/2020 09:51

I love Woolly's wreath AND door! 😂

A whole pie, Constantly?! Get you! The MN professional under-eaters would say that's gluttony!

I'm off to the allotment to harvest. I'm almost dreading it as there's so much I've no clue where to start! Nice problem to have, I know.

Anyone for beans?! 😂😂😂

NerosFiddle · 22/08/2020 10:18

Morning.

I bought a wreath last year, hung it on the door and when I went out the next day it was on top of the neighbours car.

If you ever get a chance look at Dunnes for Christmas decorations. The used to have stores in Liverpool and Glasgow but I think they're closed down now. But you can still buy online.

Crazy I'm away down the rabbit hole. We've a new bed soon and that'll mean new bedding.
