I'm in the never, ever, ever under canvas team. I like my holiday accommodation to have indoor plumbing with plenty of hot water and a breakfast buffet that I haven't cooked myself

DS had an afternoon in school today meeting his new tutor and having a bit of a (distanced) catch up with his mates. He's rocking his longer hair and with his zip up jacket today he reminded me of a Gallagher brother.

I trimmed my fringe last night. It desperately needed doing but it wasn't easy trying to get my hand high enough and keep it steady. Let's just say it's a good job I'm not out in public 😂 although I've been informed I have to have a Covid test in the next few days. Very jealous of people who have a hairdresser appointment. My hairdresser is mobile and comes to my house but she's got a family member who is on the vulnerable list so I can't see her accepting clients any time soon.

Most your cross stitch is gorgeous as is yours Fluffy. I've found a pattern for a holly leaf border that I think would look spectacular on a towel or tea towel so I would appreciate an idea of where I can get one or two of those.

Most lovely school clothes. I bet your DS looks adorable in them. Is he excited about school? I think DS only needs a new blazer (changes colour next year) and new shoes so not too expensive

FireflyGirl · 30/06/2020 23:08

I haven't been camping for years! We put the new tent up in the garden, but then I wimped out of sleeping in it. I said to DH, we should get DS to sleep in it, then carry him to bed so I can sleep in the house! I've been eyeing up glamping sites today, but even if we do go we won't book until much nearer the time.

Lovely cross stitch, most.

You're braver than me, Woolly - I haven't dared go near our hair, other than to trim DS's fringe out of his eyes!

I've spent my evening sorting through bags of baby clothes from DS and DNephew. DH's friend is due twins next month, so we're giving them all of the clothes that I won't put on DC2, including all the clothes that are the wrong season.

It was very nostalgic, they're so tiny! I spoke to DSis to see which ones she wanted to keep, but I was pleased with myself that I have still managed to half the amount we had. Then, DSis mentioned that DM has been passing her time on furlough by buying baby girl clothes on eBay...

Morning!

Mrs, I'm glad you sorted the loo. Phew! 😂

It was very odd being in the office. Nice to see other adult humans, but it felt very strange indeed. I came home in my lunch break. I was so much more stressed having had a commute though. It's very bad for me!

Woolly, have you looked at Dunelm? Or eBay? Show us the pattern!

Did your DS enjoy his trip into school? Did your DH take him or was he on the train?

How lovely sorting through baby clothes, Firefly. Only 4 months to go!

Most, loving the elephant. The colours are so vibrant. Cute school clothes too.

Sorry if I've missed anyone; I can never catch up properly!

Gloomy-looking weather today. We got the towels dry yesterday though. I need to retrieve courgettes from the allotment before they turn into marrows. They'll have loved the watering!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 01/07/2020 07:57

Not sure it has properly dawned on DS yet Woolly and I haven't been talking about it much as we don't know what is going to happen in September so don't want to get him all excited and then him not be able to do. Never imagined this when I used to think about him starting school!

Back in work today and need to visit the allotment later, I have been a bit remiss so it will be very weedy Sad

Have a good day all!

WreckTangled · 01/07/2020 08:04

Fluffy I would hate to be commuting on public transport. I'm WFH today and tomorrow and I love it, my drive to the office is only 25 minutes but I really resent it. I've already cleaned and hoovered they kitchen, put folded washing away and another load in. I'll also manage to exercise before I start work.

Fire I loved sorting through baby clothes so exciting!

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/07/2020 08:33

DH took him Fluffy and DD2 picked him up. If/when he goes back in September he'll be going by car which is a shame as he was great on the train and it was really convenient but it's one more layer of risk that we can avoid.

This is the pattern. As far as I can tell the Charles Craft towels that it requires aren't available here.

FireflyGirl · 01/07/2020 10:01

You put me to shame, Wreck Blush

DS woke up at 8, and has been playing in his bedroom listening to an audiobook since. I've got dressed, but been laid in bed reading since. We haven't even had breakfast yet!

Although, I have emailed school to see about DS going back for the last couple of weeks. DH and I have been weighing up the risk vs the benefit of him being able to socialise with other children.

We couldn't fix our washing machine, so we have a new one coming on Friday. There's piles of laundry in the bedrooms and bathroom...

WreckTangled · 01/07/2020 12:05

Applying for another job I'm completely unqualified for Grin maybe one day I'll be offered one.

NerosFiddle · 01/07/2020 12:25

Good luck wreck.

I'm trying to figure out what to do next year. If I should apply to go back to do a new degree or if I should bite the bullet and start my own business.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2020 12:54

What would you do if you had your own business, Neros?

Good luck, Wreck! You won't get if you don't apply, so you might as well!

Ours are having one day in school next week as a transition day. It'll be odd having them out of the house!

Firefly, how long have you been without the machine now? We'd have drowned in washing! 😂

Wreck, the commute to Liverpool is mostly OK, but it's 90 minutes each way. So time consuming.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2020 13:51

We've just walked to the little Sainsbury's in the village to collect an Argos order. I topped up our gift card while I was in there, so have £140 on there now.

I bought the kids vegan Magnums so they're happy now!

Back to work when I get home. Boo!

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 01/07/2020 13:53

I'll not go into too much detail Fluffy, but it's to do with consultancy. I've done a bit in the past as part of a role that I had.

FireflyGirl · 01/07/2020 18:01

Fluffy since last Thursday. It won't go into spin mode. DMIL did a load for us at the weekend, but yeah, there are piles of washing everywhere. Guess how we're going to be spending our weekend... Well, I say we - I spoke to the physiotherapist yesterday (hip/pelvis issues due to pregnancy), and she said no bending to fill the washing machine, so hard luck DH Grin

DM came for a socially distant visit this afternoon. DS said he didn't want to stop playing to speak to her, because he can't play with her 😢 poor thing. He did manage to do a lot of speaking, however!

I've emailed school about him (hopefully) going back from Monday. I would rather keep him home, but he hasn't seen another child in nearly 4 months!

CrazyBaubles · 01/07/2020 18:26

Wreck I'm not surprised you resent your commute, it's such a waste of time - and Fluffy 90 mins 😯 (mine is between 30 and 60 minutes depending on traffic and I hate it).

I also applied for a job I'm not qualified for yesterday 😂

What was yours?

I guess the drs instructions mean you basically need to rest then Firefly? 😉

About half of DHs school pupils have come back, mostly doing a few half days each week. He said they're so excited to be back, a few have said they've missed their desks / classrooms / teachers.

I have a few days off work now - they've allocated out any remaining holidays so everyone doesn't try and take them from September onwards. No arguments here, I've got a few people to see and a cross stitch to work on!

WreckTangled · 01/07/2020 18:33

Fire do as you're told! You've got a while left so you want to do everything you can go stop it progressing any quicker. Poor ds it's so hard for them.

Crazy it's a well-being role with children who are very overweight or obese. It's perfect for me! But I don't need the essential criteria in qualifications. I do have knowledge though so we will see... what did you apply for?

CrazyBaubles · 01/07/2020 19:30

Mine is for a governance role, overseeing strategies and making sure they meet regulators requirements and GDPR. I have some overlapping experience and think I could learn the job fast enough but I don't have some of the essential experience / qualifications either. Never mind - I wasn't experienced at all in the job I do now and got it anyway so 🤷‍♀️ I figured I have nothing to lose!

I'm just back from walking the dog. After being cloudy and miserable all day the sun came out just as I left which was nice. Am treating myself to a rum now...

Mrsmadevans · 01/07/2020 21:41

Have been busy today , sorting through Mum's things and downloading a load of stuff off iplayer for her to watch offline .
Most do you think it may come to that and your Ds won't be able to go ? God l hope that doesn't happen Flowers
Good luck with the job interviews Crazy & Wreck Flowers
Fire is that SPD if so l really sympathise it's damn painful Flowers
Vegan Magnums Fluffy Dd1 loves them. Yes, we are so relieved we managed to fix the handle on the cistern Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/07/2020 22:05

I've noticed the traffic is getting busier now (and did you all know we're now 100 Days of Lockdown? Said on LBC )

At the start , I scarecly passed another car on the road , sometimes got to work before I left home Xmas Grin

Now (depending on where I'm working) it's between 15 minutes to 45 minutes drive , can be an hour at the normal traffic times .

My DS sheets/duvet cover have arrived , I put them away for Autumn.

I don't usually feel the cold but last year I was out searching for a nice warm bedsheet Xmas Grin

Fire yes to rest , no bending , just nice gentle excercising .

We need to complete the de-weeding of the bottom of the garden, get the brambles cut back.
Our male cat was prowling about like he owns it (which he does - his garden , his job to keep the pesky neighbourhood cats own. He only just tolerates his sister in the garden )

Mrsmadevans · 01/07/2020 22:53

70 yes to the traffic almost as normal , not yet here in Wales but we went to Monmouth and the dual carriageway that leads onto Ross on Wye was as busy as ever. Glad your duvet sets cae and you are pleased with them Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 02/07/2020 08:17

Morning! It's raining again, but meant to dry up soon. We're trusting the forecast and the washing is on (sorry, Firefly!).

The traffic was normal driving to Liverpool on Tuesday too.

Firefly, make sure you follow doctor's orders!

We went to the allotment last night to pick a few bits and bobs. DS loves red currants and gooseberries! Funny thing is, if we'd bought them he wouldn't have gone near them. 😂

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 02/07/2020 08:18

Oh yeah. I got a full sack of weeds out of the leek bed yesterday. The weeds have gone mad. FML. 😭😭😭

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/07/2020 08:48

You lot are a bad influence like I needed any encouragement I have bought this tea towel cross stitch kit to add to my to-do list. I'll have a look to see if the holly berry design I like will fit, if not I'll make the kit as shown.

I had my pre-op Covid test yesterday 🤮 so hopefully I'll get the results today.

WreckTangled · 02/07/2020 08:57

Oh yuck woolly!

It's warm here sun and cloud. I'm WFH just did Pilates now logging on for the day...

CrazyBaubles · 02/07/2020 09:31

Thank you MrsMad - if I get invited to interview I'll be quite pleased tbh!

Traffic is almost back to normal here 70

Fluffy DH has started a programme in his school to grow food and said a lot of the kids will eat things that parents said they've refused. I assume it's partly because they're so proud they've grown something

Woolly have you cross stitched tea towels before? Is it more difficult than using aida? I'd like to make cushions but can't get my head around how I could without the clear grid to work from.

Wreck where do you get your Pilates workouts from? I've been doing yoga following a few different people on YouTube but very few are for true beginners...

I've had a very nice morning, a little in, shower, boiled eggs with soldiers for breakfast and now looking for meal inspiration in my pinch of nom books.
For the rest of the day I'll be cross stitching, doing a few errands (picking up a prescription, returning a package) before doing a house viewing.
