Hairdressers are open from today here (there was 1 barber in the city who opened at 12:01 in the middle of the night to deal with pent-up demand being interviewed on the radio at breakfast time, so not all just the ladies!!). My hairdresser is now mobile, and I had been going to him (and then him coming here) for years - he rang 2 weeks ago to offer a slot on Wednesday as he has another client near me that day if I could do daytime, and because of WFH I can, so I just jumped at it!!

MarshmallowManiac · 29/06/2020 15:18

Thank you so much Fluffy will definitely try it, and your cherry vodka looks amazing. 70 thank you for all your tips will definitely explore, think I will definitely try my Frys choc cream one as I love it so much Grin They also have an orange and a raspberry one (which I might or might not have tried Wink and think I will include with the vodka yum can almost taste it now.
Went to the garden centre yesterday and bought some tomato plants, and planted them and some sunflower seeds, and also bought a fuchsia plant and a big pot to hold it. Our peas have gone mad atm and think the carrots are nearly there. I am a total novice and appreciate any tips, but slowly slowly the garden beginning to look like OUR garden.

WreckTangled · 29/06/2020 15:26

Biddy that's perfect! Hope you enjoy your fresh new cut

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 29/06/2020 17:22

First day back at school today. Was very strange but I enjoyed being back at work :)

Weather rubbish here though, 15 degrees today so I was in a long sleeved dress and tights!

CrazyBaubles · 29/06/2020 19:02

Do you usually do a lot of camping biddy? DH is trying to convince me to do part camping part b&b if our holiday abroad is cancelled in a few weeks. I'm not convinced but my memories of camping are from years ago and are just of being freezing and not being able to afford a meal out so we just struggled to kill time everyday. If I say yes at least now I'll be able to crochet / cross stitch and we can actually see and do things!

I'm hoping I can get my haircut soon as I have a few hairdressers in the family. I don't want anything fancy but it's just got so long it's getting on my nerves.

I hope your DDs hands feel better soon Wreck. I suffer psoriasis and eczema and it's really irritating on your hands. Has it been itching or making her uncomfortable?

most it has been awful today hasn't it? I'm too tight to pay to heat just the one room I work in at home so I've been snuggled into a woolly wrap and warm socks all day (on top of my clothes & cardi).
DH wore shorts to work though - he said they heat his school so much it's always boiling 🙄

Today was manic at work so I used the momentum when I finished to sort out my spare room bookcase which was full of random boxes of craft stuff, then I tidied the kitchen and cooked lasagne for tea. And now soaking in a bath with an awful smelling treatment on my scalp. Once I'm done I will be settling back down to my cross stitch - my Coo almost has a full nose 😂

WreckTangled · 29/06/2020 19:15

I hate camping. We've only been once but it chucked it down.

Crazy she gets eczema in her elbow creases but not awfully. She's quite prone to various rashes though. I have psoriasis. It's not itchy it's sore and she said he fingers feel swollen when she moves them. At least during the summer holidays her hands will get a break.

Most pleased you enjoyed being back

Mrsmadevans · 29/06/2020 20:45

Wreck l hate camping too, it's always wet, freezing, boring and noisy the showers and toilets are always filthy and the noisy sex from the neighbours gets on my nerves too, Bloody awful! I appreciate l went years ago and things may have improved lol .Good that you got Steroid cream for Dd too Smile
Biddy you are so lucky to get a hair appt Grin
Crazy your day sounds very full & hectic lol ! You deserve a nice relax enjoy! Smile

Mrsmadevans · 29/06/2020 20:47

Most it's been freezing here too, l can just imagine you in one of your lovey dresses today Smile

KVlovesWinter · 29/06/2020 21:19

Evening

It's been a really windy day today got quite a lot of washing dried on the line. Dd was on washing duty while I was at work, she did well 😁

Crazy yeah I'm originally from Newcastle, my Dads side of family are from here and my Mams side from Northumberland so spend a lot of time there as well.

I've just noticed that Movies 24 Christmas in July starts on Wednesday morning 🎄

MarshmallowManiac · 29/06/2020 21:45

Just been on One Pound Sweets to order some retro pick and mix, think will use them for some stocking fillers too (and of course a treat for myself while I'm at it) Grin

BiddyPop · 29/06/2020 22:02

I’ve averaged 2 camping weekends per year for the past 5 years, having not done any for 15 years. I’ve learned the importance of insulating the floor of the tent, having a comfy bed, spare blanket, woolly hat, sleeping in thermals unless it’s super warm, and bringing a hot water bottle for in my sleeping bag. I actually took the plunge and bought a new rent this morning - high enough to stand in the bedroom so I can change, and with a canopy to cook under if it rains. On Cub trips, there’s very little quiet time. On trips with DD, it’s more relaxed but we go where we can hike and we enjoy relaxed cooking on fires and play lots of cards and dd swims no matter the weather (I’m not quite so hardy!!).

CrazyBaubles · 29/06/2020 22:53

Biddy DH is a big camping fan and goes several times a year with his friends (uk and abroad) so he already has a good tent that even he can stand up in, with a canopy thing and 3 separate spaces. He's trying to persuade me by showing me very comfy looking tall inflatable beds and promising to do all the washing up 😂
We used to own a caravan and I much preferred that to a tent but on the flip side, I really want to go away!

Christmas in July movies KVloves? That sounds like it could be very nice background noise while WFH 🤔
Also, I** am reading all your posts in a Newcastle accent now Xmas Smile

MrsMad have you braved Cwmbran recently? My mum went food shopping today and said the queue for Primark was nuts!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2020 23:07

I'm not a happy camper. I'd rather stay at home! DH used to camp loads and he wants to take the kids. I'm not going though!

I'm glad you got DD sorted, Wreck. My hands are so painful when my eczema flares up.

Cross stitch is coming on now. I'm just over halfway!

Biddy sounds like you have got it off pat Grin
Fluffy l would rather stay at home too can't bear camping urggh so horrible , insects , cold, wet , muddy filthy amenities Envy.
This is a lovely Scandi Christmas x stitch , you are motoring through it like hell! Grin
Crazy we went once , a week ago it was horrendous , we felt really unsafe there, the shoppers seem to have forgotten there is a pandemic on Shock l don't think we will be going for months again.

CrazyBaubles · 30/06/2020 07:01

🎄 178 🎄

CrazyBaubles · 30/06/2020 07:04

Agree about Cwmbran MrsMad, they went to the trouble of planning the one way system etc and people were just ignoring it 😡

I'm up and at my desk. Hopefully today will be less manic than yesterday.
Plan is to work in my office until 11, then put a pasta bake in and work downstairs until lunch. Zoom meeting at 1:30, another at 2:30 and finish by 3:30, just before DH gets home 👍🏻

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/06/2020 07:06

Cross stitch is coming along so well fluffy!

I was so cold last night I spent it wrapped up like a caterpillar in a king size duvet. Doesn't look very nice outside today either!

DS and DH want to go camping, I have suggested glamping!

WreckTangled · 30/06/2020 07:33

Wow crazy you are up and ready early! I'm in the office again today but then that's it until Monday...

Looks like rain today, it's quite dark we've had to turn the lights on this morning for the first time in a while.

NerosFiddle · 30/06/2020 08:13

Morning.

Camping is my idea of hell. Center parcs is as close to nature a I get.

Another cloudy day here but no rain forecast until this evening.

CrazyBaubles · 30/06/2020 08:42

most I was freezing when I got into bed but I'm a hot sleeper and found myself uncovered with the duvet on the floor at 3am 😂

Wreck I like to get my day started early so I can finish early - my office hours aren't that flexible but WFH means as long as I do the right amount of hours, when exactly is up to me.
It's amazing the difference having no commute has made. I have energy to do chores that I put off until the weekend so my weekends aren't stuffed full by trying to fit in seeing friends, family, food shopping, sorting the house out etc. I can organise my meals and not feel so burnt out all the time.

Oh dear Neros, there are not many happy camper stories!

I'm sat at my desk watching a blackbird stealing berries off a tree in the neighbours garden. He comes everyday, as does a robin and I think they're making me become a twitcher.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/06/2020 09:11

Morning!

I'm in the office this morning. We have to move everything so the office can have a deep clean, so I'm here this morning and then driving home at lunch time.

I'm copying discs and sending them out to medical agencies. Exciting!

Bah all you non-camping fans Grin! DH is with you all!! I used to manage it, but when I HAD to learn to deal with sleep for Cubs, I learned to keep warm and no Cubs see my HWB but the other leaders, while laughing slightly at the wussy girl, are also careful to fill the burco for both the 20 million gallons of tea for leaders to drink while the Cubs slowly settle to sleep AND my HWB when we get back after campfire. DD has asked to go again this year on a girls trip. And DH has accepted that my camping chair is the best chair for back garden lounging....so I may persuade him yet!!

But a nice lodge in CP is also great!!

Not the nicest day outside, the sun that was shining this morning is gone, relatively calm wind, not terribly warm, but best day expected of the week so today is yoga day on the green.

Work bananas, I spent last night doing paperwork for Scouts, tonight will be junior sailing, tomorrow is a zoom call for Cub parents and other scouts paperwork. But I have re-started the latest scarf (needles pulled out of the last effort when it was 2' long, but I'd already made a number of mistakes so ripped it back), which is a basic one to keep my hands busy when I do stop. Ugh, phone going, chat later....

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 30/06/2020 13:18

Hi folks. May I be added to the list of you all that hate camping. I didn't mind it too much, till I went one year with my boyfriend at the time, and it was knee deep in mud and we argued for the whole weekend, apart from a couple of hours respite watching the Radio One Roadshow. (Yes I am that old).

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/06/2020 13:53

Some of DS' stuff for school has arrived :) They have to have a pair of wellies and a rain coat in a bag to be kept at school. The additional bag is for his PE kit :)
