I love the look of that Tiffin Wreck Yummy! Grin
Boot must confess we have all of them too plus Poirot, Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes , even Basil Rathbone ones, Pd James series with both actors , Father Brown with Kenneth Moore, The Thin man series , Lord Peter Wimsey both actors but Ian Carmichael is my hero Grin
New Tricks, Columbo, Kojak , Softly Softly, Starsky & Hutch, Cagney & Lacey , Z Cars. Cracker, Frost, Dalgliesh, Vera, Rockford Files, Taggart , 'it's Murduh Jim' oh l could go on and on Grin. We , Dh & l both love the genre thank God Grin l love murder mystery whodunnits , m listening to radio audio plays atm they are fab Grin
You know l read all the Lyndley novels by Elizabeth George and the casting really let it down imho, the sergeant was totally miscast, in the book she was plump and awkward , in the series she was this tiny little actor , it put me off. Hmm
I didn't realise wine could blow like that ! Shock
Fluffy am very glad your wine didn't blow like Boots did !

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/06/2020 01:37

Hi folks. Rocking the nightshift here. Boots the winey icicles made me laugh out loud!! Is it wrong I really would like to have seen those?

Morning!

It chucked it down overnight! And it's hit and miss today. Though thankfully not as bad where we're off out to.

The children are being irritating. Joy!

Xmas Grin No winey-icicles here but I did put a bottle of J2O in the freezer and when I eventually went back to it the lid had been forced off by abot 8cm of frozen drink. ( No idea how , I need a bottle opener to prize those lids off ")

DH put the wardrobe together for DD ( it took hours but he insisted on only having help where essential )
It looks good , 2 white doors+ a full length mirror door . (Ikea Pax) rails and baskets . We ordered a ready organised one rather than buying the carcass then choosing all the fittings ourselves , I got lost down the rabbit hole of Komplent fittings Xmas Grin

When he unwrapped the doors (having assembled the main wardrobe) he was "Eh, the doors are blue "
Turns out it was a protective peel off film ...thank goodness , visions of hauling two doors to IKea or waiting for a pick up - No ta.

Fathers Day rest for him, bottle of whiskey and some Netflicks .

WreckTangled · 21/06/2020 08:34

We've had rain over night too but it's meant to be 20° lager. Woken up to cat sick everywhere luckily that will he Dh's job.

Pussycatinboots · 21/06/2020 08:49

why the "exploded can of diet coke in a Vauxhall Astra" was (not) funny too! It stank of pop for weeks after - luckily it was so cold I chipped most of it off the upholstery and inside windows Shock
DH doesn't know about the wine-y icicles Blush but I do buy boxes instead of bottles now!
70 I've frozen J20 in the top of the fridge before now (but caught it before it blows) it's quite nice with it's own ice cubes.
Someone I used to work with returned a bath because they sent a "blue" one HmmGrin
Mrs I've got and read all the Lynleys too. It's odd that Lynley is blonde in the books, but Havers (on TV) was always quite scruffy in the earlier episodes. It annoys me that she calls a Hall an Entry - they're not the same! Have you tried Val McDermid books - The Wire in the Blood was particularly chilling.
fluffy DH mentioned cleaning the windows, so - yes - it will rain later.

Pussycatinboots · 21/06/2020 08:54

Wreck poor little fella (the cat not DH).

KVlovesWinter · 21/06/2020 11:10

Morning!

It's sunny but quite breezy today, had some heavy rain through the night which soaked the washing I'd left out.

Had the worst sleep ever, DD who said she was staying at her student accommodation last night woke me up at 2am knocking on the door, didn't get back to sleep until around half 4 😴

Late breakfast time now, big mug of strong coffee with croissants and cinnamon swirls 😀

Morning.

It's pouring down here and we're all watching Shaun the sheep. Well dc are watching it and I'm sitting on my phone trying to organise birthday/ Christmas presents for everyone. I'm also still looking at holidays to Florida for 2022. It's pointless because the flights aren't released yet and with everything that's going on the prices could jump or fall significantly by then.

I forgot to say my x stitch came on Friday and I attempted it last night. I already know it's not for me. I didn't see the instructions with it and just tried to do it myself based on the picture. It does not look good. I did it as a sewing stitch rather than a cross stitch. The clue really should have been there for me Grin.
Oh and it was tiny. Smaller than the palm of my hand.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/06/2020 12:50

Lovely looking tiffin wreck and your allotment looks fab fluffy.

We have just had a delicious lunch from a local cafe, pics attached.

I am so tired after two bad nights with DS, I hope he is happy to have a relaxed afternoon! Feel bad but he is in nursery tomorrow and I intend to charge through all my work in the morning and then have a nap in the afternoon!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/06/2020 12:51

Need to pot on some sunflowers though. They are too big for the propogator now but will be vulnerable if put out just yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2020 14:09

Our sunflowers have definitely fared better from being put out when they were bigger. They're going great guns now (there are 12).

Nero, that's hilarious re the non cross stitch! Maybe it's not for you!

We're on the way back from Dunham Massey. It was lovely. There was a tiny shower, but nothing drastic. The kids (mostly DS) collected a carrier bag of sticks and bark to build a bug hotel with at home.

Boots, any rain yet?!

70, that's funny re the 'blue' doors. 😂😂

Sunflowers potted on and the big ones already in the ground have been staked as they were starting to lean alarmingly Grin

Pussycatinboots · 21/06/2020 15:23

fluffy yep. it rained half an hour after he finished!

Nero you could unpick it and have another bash? If you run out of a colour, I've probably got it in my stash. My first one was when I had chicken pox at 15 and was a tiny birth sampler - pink crib and a few little flowers with name and date - that my mum thought would keep me busy. 2 days later...she was back at the shop buying something a bit bigger/more complicated to stop me scratching and complainingGrin I could put something tiny/simple together for you if you want? Just to get you going...

The order I put in ended up cancelled - no stock! - so I went direct to Heritage and bought a couple from their sale instead. Both feature rather rotund ginger cats 😺😺 funny that, as Charlie is on a diet Shock

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2020 16:27

Lovely cross stitch and lunch too, Most!

Sod's law on the rain, Boots.

I'm doing the toy shop one next, so thought I'd do another simple / quick one before getting into the next 3-monther!

I've just spent ages losing broad beans. So much effort for so - comparatively - few beans! 😂

KVlovesWinter · 21/06/2020 16:40

We've had a lovely long walk out this afternoon, little bit of a scary moment walking through the field with cows in. Someone ahead of us had their dog off the lead and it started chasing the cows, the cows panicked and started running towards us. We managed to detour and climb over a fence, phew 😅

Back home and doing some cross stitch while Ds is watching the football, should keep him entertained for a while.

Fluffy the bug hotel sounds adorable

Most those lunches look so good!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/06/2020 16:41

Boots I had a can of red bull explode in my Vauxhall Astra, the smell of fruit salad sweets lasted what seemed like forever.

Pussycatinboots · 21/06/2020 16:50

why it wasn't just me then Grin
It was that really cold winter a few years back when everything when white. I started DH car up (at 5.30am in the dark) to thaw it out for him to go to work and realised the inside was more frozen than outside🤦‍♀️ DH ended up taking my car while I cleaned up the mess in his!
It appears from my scientific research, that Diet Coke will explode at low temps before full fat Coke as the other can had only "bellied" at the bottom and not blown the seam.👩🏻‍🎓

WreckTangled · 21/06/2020 16:51

We've been to my parents. It's been pretty windy but still warm enough to be outside.

WreckTangled · 21/06/2020 17:00

I'm wondering if Kew at Christmas will be on this year, even with Covid I would be happy doing that, it's all outside so I hope they do as I'll definitely book it.

NerosFiddle · 21/06/2020 17:03

Boots thank you. I think it is beyond repair though at this stage. I'll order another cheap one and give it another chance.

Pussycatinboots · 21/06/2020 17:09

Neros find something with decent instructions - Heritage instructions are very good and they do some easier kits than the ones me or fluffy do.
Try to get all your x in the same direction, so do them /// before \\ (or tother way round - as long as they're the same) iyswim.
And if/when you get stuck ask us for help!

NerosFiddle · 21/06/2020 18:33

Boots I've ordered this one. It's for ages 3 plus so hopefully I'll be able to do it Blush
