We have rain here as well now, it went so dark out. Had to do a mad dash to get the washing in from the line. Luckily it was under quite a thick tree so wasn't too wet.

Temperature has dropped and a little bit windy now feels nice and cool out

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/06/2020 17:50

Very dark here, have my lamp on to do my cross stitch! Elephant is coming along well :)

The rain didn't last long here, it's bright but cloudy now.

That's a lovely colourful elephant most. *

I've just ordered this small Christmas cross stitch, haven't done one for a few years. It's getting delivered tomorrow 😁 can't wait to get it started

We had torrential rain about 10pm last night (poor DS got drenched on his way home from work, it's only 5 minutes walk but he was drowned rat )

Thunder , heavy heavy rain.

I need to get DH to check the gutters but the garden is flooded and the shed is full to the rafters of 'stuff' so he cannot .

I need to Stealth Visit the shops tomorrow to pick up some last minute presents for DD .
She wants me to make her cake, so I'm planning fruitcake ( I have to use the marzipan somehow Xmas Grin ) and some iced fairycakes ( not butter icing)

I was looking at 18th cakes and got distracted onto Hallowe'en cakes ! (My 2nd favourite time of year after Christmas .....I wonder if Hallowe'en will be do-able this year though? )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/06/2020 19:06

DH needs to get to the shed to get the ladders that should say !

KVlovesWinter · 18/06/2020 20:17

70 Halloween is our 2nd favourite time of year after Christmas as well. Have been thinking about this a lot and how different are things going to be this year.
A lot of our Christmas traditions are going to outdoor events, no idea whether any of it will go ahead as normal this year. It's all a bit strange

Mrsmadevans · 18/06/2020 21:16

Have been busy today , did another 308 tablets for 2 weeks of Mum's med boxes, then did ours . Cleaned the bedrooms & bathroom, Dh went to the GP for an overhaul with the nurse, his BP is so high when he goes in (white coat syndrome it always happens Hmm). l have to do it for a week twice in the morning and twice at night then give them the form back for them to see if he needs Tablets. We went to put flowers on my Friends memorial in Cwmbran but when we got there we were not allowed to put them on ! They are only open between 8-3 on Sat and Sun. l didn't think they wouldn't be open , so we have decided to leave it until later to go again.
Came home & helped Dd2 sort out 5 bags of clothes and assorted bric a brac for charity . We were ruthless Grin . Have to wait for them to open now Smile
Mum was a pita with Dd1 today , refused to have a shower, wanted tea and crumpets and to read the paper before she let Dd shower her. l was so cross she is so horrible sometimes, the kid is as good as gold to her fair dos Hmm
It has rained ALL day today , very muggy though we need a good thunderstorm.

WreckTangled · 19/06/2020 04:20

I've been awake since 2 and now the birds have started up... 😴 gonna be a long day...

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2020 06:56

Morning!

Wreck, awake since 2?! No point going to bed almost! At least you don't work today!

Mrs, your mum is a horror. She's like a small child, lashing out at loved ones because she can. Except she's old enough to know better. Tell her you'll stop going; give her shit over it. She's not a delicate flower so give her grief and read the bloody riot act.

70, stealth shopping sounds fun!

Our rain stopped by about 8 last night, so the washing went out and there's another load in the machine to go out.

I'm giving blood later. If they don't cancel it again! Hopefully they won't.

I've done as much as I can on the baby cross stitch now, so I've gone on to a Christmas one!

I think I got back to sleep around 4:30 😴 I need to go and collect the food shopping today.

NerosFiddle · 19/06/2020 09:05

Morning.

We were supposed to have torrential rain last night according to the bbc. I'd say the ground is damp at best.
I saw on bbc breakfast this morning that England is to have a heat wave next week. Scotland, Wales and Ireland are not Hmm.

KVlovesWinter · 19/06/2020 10:05

Morning, hope everyone is doing okay

It's another cloudy day here but quite humid, hopefully the washing dries on the line before the rain comes later.

We had some really heavy rain late last night, I got drenched putting the bin out.

Today is the first time I've had a lie in all week.

My cross stitch is out for delivery and currently 8 stops away, going to start it later this afternoon

Pussycatinboots · 19/06/2020 10:20

Morning.
Neros I hope BBC are wrong (they normally are) I don't like heat.
It's currently peeing down - perfect growing weather for my carrots Grin
Mrs I agree with fluffy In your DDs shoes, I would have given her the option of a hose pipe Shock or left her to it. You and your DD are not her personal waitress service!!
Wreck what you need is a siesta Wink
70 how is the "Halloween" themed 🎃🎂18th cake coming on?? Grin
waits for photo of orange hands

Pussycatinboots · 19/06/2020 10:24

Firefly forgot to say, your DS is bringing Christmas early with his "Die Hard" phase Grin I know me n fluffy watch them every year 🍿
please start calling him Bruce 🤣

FireflyGirl · 19/06/2020 11:31

Funnily enough, boots I told him to go put a t-shirt on over his vest this morning as he's spending a couple of hours at Grandma's (DMIL is a single adult household, so we've merged 'bubbles'), and he chose a Christmas top Grin

It's just chucked it down, but has temporarily stopped and my netting has just arrived for the brassicas, so I'm going to risk a couple of hours at the allotment in peace!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2020 12:38

The 'Die Hard phase' made me laugh! DS does that sometimes!

It's been raining here on and off since just after 11. Thankfully the washing got almost dry before coming in.

My John Clayton has arrived today. Plus my Spicery Mexican recipe book and spices. 😋

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2020 12:51

Butt update: full, would be overflowing!

Chucking it down (we had a bucketful yesterday, as in a yellow bucket got filled to the brim, not metaphorical!). ☔️ ☔️

Puss I was watching some YouTube videos ...one Haloowe'en cake had red jam (they mixed raspberry with red colouring) , a layer of white fondant icing then slashed with a blade , like it had been clawed .
Or my favourite was black icing and a skeletal hand done in white buttercream reaching over the top of the cake .

Don't think either is appropriate for a beautiful 18yo Birthday girl though Xmas Grin

Mrs the way older people resort to being almost infantile is so frustrating - often they do not realise it , but I think other times it's used as a control mechanism. I have seen many families in shreds trying to care for an elderly relarive . Sometimes they are fixated on routine and time or think nothing else exists except them .

Just been to the shops (queues) then the laundrette to wash duvets and heavy cotton duvet cover . Its brushed cotton/flannellete and king sized . Our male cat likes to adorn it with his filthy little paws so it's Stars'n'Paws .
I'm on the lookout for some new Christmas bedding , now is as good a time as any to start thinking about it ... Xmas Wink

WreckTangled · 19/06/2020 13:12

We had a shower overnight and are due a shower Sunday morning but that's it for the next ten day's. It's still muggy here.

Pussycatinboots · 19/06/2020 13:21

70 I had a football shirt cake for my 18th Grin it looked so much better than it tasted though. Far too much red fondant that stuck your teeth together, and you needed a huge mug of tea with it as it was a very dry sponge. I think at least half went in the bin.

FireflyGirl · 19/06/2020 15:45

I've managed to get the brassicas in and netted, by dashing in and out of the shed to avoid downpours. Don't know if you can see how much it's raining from this photo! Anyway, progress Grin

Plan tomorrow is to get the tomatoes, peas and beans in!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2020 15:49

That looks very wet, Firefly! Much like here!

I'm debating sowing another lot of peas. Can't hurt! I've got a pack in my shed at the allotment, so will get them in tomorrow. After digging their location!

@NerosFiddle our Derek the weather told us we are going to have a heat wave next week from Tues on Grin l do hope so cos it is blinking freezing here today ! Brrrr!
Ohhh Christmas bedding don't get me going 70 Grin
I know what you mean re the older people everything revolves around them and it is used as a control mechanism to make us do what they want ! Hmm
@NoWordForFluffy Yay to the John Clayton arrivaI! l know what you are saying Mum is very spoilt, she's just like a child Hmm . Trouble being l should tell her off but she is so difficult , makes our lives a misery and makes us feel guilty , she is horrible you are dead right there! So today l give her the news she is very soon able to return home once Mark Drakeford allows us in about 2 weeks and she is really not wanting to go home ! I didn't see that happening l can tell you! Shock Your x stitch for new baby is just lovely Smile
@Fire l can see how bad it is love! Well done on the Brassicas too!
That is lovely for Ds and his nanny to spend some time together bless him Smile
@WreckTangled how was the shopping pick up ? I have noticed that when you do the shopping in person you can pick up stuff that they say is OOS online but they have plenty instore. I bought 40 pkts of curry Noodles today because we had run out, they didn't want to sell them to me l could tell, despite them having loads of boxes left, l didn't take them all l wouldn't do that there were loads left . l am trying to get my stock back up to pre Brexit/Covid level in case of a second wave Hmm
@pussycatinboots that cake sounded lovely l bet you l could have scoffed the lot Grin l love fondant icing Grin
We have tended to her every whim but she has gotten worse since my Dad died, despite having Bob in tow Hmm IT REALLY IS HOPELESS Hmm
Dh is watching old Minders of an afternoon so he is in seventh heaven, we did a tip run which we had to book up online 3 weeks ago for , got rid of lots of rubbish and clothes in the clothes bins , it was a relief to see it gone Grin

Pussycatinboots · 19/06/2020 16:52

Mrs It's not fair that you get Derek and we get Owain.🌧☂
About your Mum, just turn your back and walk away. Every.single.time. It's that or the "Naughty Step" and I guess she might be a bit big for that! 🤣
She doesn't want to go home, because she won't have Poor Bob at her beck and call 24/7 when you're not there!

WreckTangled · 19/06/2020 18:40

Mrs it was a click and collect. Everything was there though.
